HIWPT starts CWQAP Qualification The Higher Institute for Water and Power Technologies (HIWPT) is a Saudi Aramco and Prometric certified Contractor Workforce Qualification Assurance Program (CWQAP) assessor and training center. This program is essential to evaluate all workers and train them before they start their technician jobs in the Aramco sites in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Since the beginning of January 2021, HIWPT has started delivering CWQAP exams and met ARAMCO along with CWQAP team and authorized centers to receive the updated training materials. In the current phase of the program, HIWPT offers tests and remedial training for six (6) Aramco approved disciplines. These are: Electrical, HVAC, Machinist (Mechanical), Metals Fabricator, Metals Pipefitter, and PCST (Instrumentation). Saudi AlBitek is a new start-up company in the kingdom which is primarily engaged in manufacturing of sanitary pads and wipes. A visit of Saudi AlBitek is part of the plan of the company to check possibilities of a training program for young Saudis in partnership with HIWPT. The Higher Institute for Water and Power Technologies has received a delegation from the National Container Terminal Company Ltd. (NCT), led by ___________________________, in Rabigh last February 3, 2021 to introduce the institute’s services and programs and discuss potential collaboration in training development of young Saudis in facility and logistics management program. NCT is the terminal operator of the container handling facility at King Abdullah Port located in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A delegation from the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, led by ___________________________, Head of the Saudi Water Academy, visited the Higher Institute of Water and Power Technologies (HIWPT) on February 15, 2021. The group’s goal was to learn more about the HIWPT’s programs and training and to discuss future cooperation in the implementation of selected courses in line with the water and power industry. The delegation met with Engr. Tariq AlShamrani, acting HIWPT Executive Director, as well as senior staff members. Engr. Tariq AlShamrani, acting HIWPT Executive Director, received Dr. Hani Abullkhair, Director of King Abdulaziz University’s Center of Excellence in Desalination Technology (KAU-CEDT), on February 21, 2021 in a meeting organized by HIWPT at Rabigh campus to further strengthen the cooperation of the two organizations in industrial qualifications program for engineering students and fresh graduates particularly engaging them in the ACWA Power site plants activities in the region.
