Page 4 Newsletter HIWPT hosts delegates from Uzbekistan Ministry of Energy, Science Academy On May 25, 2021 in Rabigh, the Higher Institute for Water and Power Technologies (HIWPT) hosted delegates from Uzbekistan Ministry of Energy (MOE) and Science Academy. This visit is intended to familiarize the delegates with the experience of HIWPT, the flagship training institute of ACWA Power, in areas of technical and vocational education in industrial fields. Accompanied by ACWA Power representatives, Uzbek Officials led by Ubaydullaev Adkham Israiljanovich, Deputy Director of Project Office of Uzbekistan MOE, was able to join in an organized luncheon meeting and presentation of HIWPT headed by Engr. Tariq AlShamrani, Executive Managing Director of HIWPT consecutively a campus facilities and workshops tour and an interaction with trainees. Following agreements signed in March 2020 between ACWA Power and Uzbekistan Government of Clean Energy construction projects in the region, the visit is a part of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of both parties for the development of a training center to enhance the technical skills of Uzbek students and professionals. Accordingly, ACWA Power is committed to training and upskilling 1000 local employees in Uzbekistan during the project’s construction and operation phases, generating long-term, socio-economic value through knowledge sharing and job creation.

He said that Moodle is an electronic platform that provides training to meet the needs of the job market. It aims to expand training, cover all regions and develop the skills of students, job seekers, and employees. He added that the program targets all secondary school students, ages between 15-20 years old, both males and females. The e-summer program runs until July 15, 2021, and has initially registered 100 participants, from different cities in the kingdom. This program comprised of various online training courses such as English language, computer skills, health and safety, fire safety, safe driving, time management, dealing with others, and principles of small and medium projects. Across various modules, the program is designed to accelerate learning and provide new avenues for students to safely engage with each other in fun activities.
