Charity measures for hospitals Charity measures for hospitals: The students cultivated vegetables on college premis- es and distributed them to Ernakulam district hospital, apart from a fund to feed kids affected with cancer with healthy and nutritious food

Financial support to needy people Students identify needy people from news report and ground experience and raise funds through different measures to give such people a much-needed financial back-up.

Adding a note of humanity to its Onam cele- Onam @ old age home brations, NSS volunteers of Al-Ameen college, Edathala, visited Home for the Aged and In- firm of Chunanganveli. They brought a smile to the aged and disabled 70-odd inmates when Prof. Anita Nair, Principal, handed over new Onappudavas to them.

Eat @ Treat The annual cookery festival focuses entirely on healthy food prepared by students and the stalls set up inside the campus sell the delica- cies. The fund thus raised is used for charity.

Literacy survey The surveys tried to find out illiterate people, if any, the panchayat and to initiate them to the world of letters. The students seek the help of continuing education centres to identify such beneficiaries.

Tribal Library @Kuttampuzha NSS Unit,Al Ameen College set up a library at Kuttampuzha tribal colony (ooru) with the sup- port of local self-government, which provided us with a room to house the library. 500-odd books, collected through innovative ways such as Book Challenge, were donated by the stu- dents to two different wards of Kuttampuzha.

Ezhuthumaram We planted on college premises trees in the name of deceased writers. It was meant to create with- in students a deep awareness on writers and their works.

The programme Yestelgia introduced students to the rich cultural heritage of Kerala and encouraged them to imbibe its virtue, by familiarizing them with arts, games and food of days bygone.
