DHOBI The current COVID 19 pandemic situation is affecting the health,education and the jobs of already vulnerable population. Development of urban areas and urban population living in bustees has become very necessary and important in current scenario. Since many migrant labours from metros have returned to small towns and bustees and the existing population the poor ,weak and the marginalised are the special concern. Migration, loss of jobs has affected life in poor households which could increase poverty and reduce households access to much\u2010needed health services, specially for women reproductive health, menstrual hygiene education for all and specifically girls the school closures and online learning on internet with fewer resources and facilities has added to their misery. Inner Wheel Club of Jamshedpur East has initiated the process of Supporting the Rajak samaj people in Manifit Bustee with the objective to provide integrated approach for their sustainable development to provide healthy living environment and catering to their basic needs of education ,health and their economic empowerment We have proactively listened to their concerns and involved them in the development process. We focussed on a multidimensional integrated development approach which is pro poor and women and girls oriented we have done projects which will sustain. Community based water and sanitation project by renovation of public functional toilets for women , cleaning and hand washing facilities by extending water connection and tap inside the Devi temple, drinking water facilities by installing water connection adjacent to the community hall with storage tank and water station and hand washing basins. For waste water management we renovated the hand pump and the drainage and are in the process of creating a soak pit for ground water conservation. IWC JAMSHEDPUR EAST has also created a poshan vatika by providing facilities for plantation for environment protection and addressing nutritional needs of the small and adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating women, by planting fruit bearing trees which are all hybrid plants in the name of the girls by the girls and also watered and looked after by the girls themselves and their families. The women\u2019s group has decided to sell the fruits at very nominal price and keep the proceeds. Here it is important to note that the site selection for plantation is done in such a way that the waste water of the dhobi ghat leads to the plantation area for ground water conservation.","Skill Based Vocational Training For Economic Development Sustainable development means meeting the diverse needs of all the people in the community promoting their personal wellbeing , inclusion of all segments of the population and creating equal opportunities for them and improvement in the quality of life. IWC Jamshedpur East has established a saheli centre in community hall of the bustee we have donated 4 sewing machines to the ladies club, it is a self sustained centre. The trainees have learnt stitching basic clothes members have also donated old clothes for stitching bags with organisers ,many young girls and women are benefitted through this centre. We have also donated functional computers with tables, UPS and accessories for youths in the community .Trained youth from the community have started taking basic computer classes for the children. We have Established pad bank and given sanitary pads for sale to the ladies club within the community. The profit earned by selling pads will be an income to the ladies club. Awareness programs on general health, nutrition, menstrual hygiene, hand washing and maintaining basic hygiene by children ,sessions on domestic violence, yoga competition, moral education for girls conducting various other drawing competitions, celebrating children\u2019s day, Diwali and other festivals have been our key engagements with the community. Pandemic COVID 19 IWC Jamshedpur East started awareness programs on hand washing wearing masks maintaining distance and distributed mask to the women, children and youth in the Rajak samaj bustee. We identified poor, disabled and widows in the bustee and distributed ration for 3 consequetive months, we also supported a few differently abled persons with cash support. A Manual sanitiser dispenser was donated and placed in the community hall for maintaining hand hygiene. Pictorial message about dos and dont\u2019s on COVID have been displayed at prominent place in the bustee. We have to collectively take small steps and actions to make our dream to come true. The task ahead is manifold and which will require resources and integrated approach with other stake holders organisations and institutions like JUSCO, NABARD, SHRAMIK VIDYAPEETH , LEAD BANK, GOVENRMENT DEPARTMENTS ETC.
