Adverbs of Frequency We often use the present simple with adverbs of frequency such as: always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never, etc. They rarely agree on what to do. ALERT! How long has Jane been trying to get her novel published? ALERT! We do not use stative verbs in continuous tenses, unless they describe an action. I’ve had a bike since I was five years old.
