Marketing Division Performance Highlights 2019-2020 R&D CENTRE
Introduction The scal year 2019-2020 has ended on a dif cult note with the COVID-19 crisis gripping the world. However, IndianOil’s Marketing Division has ensured availability of fuel at all fuel stations, consumer pumps of institutional customers, kept kitchen res burning, and fuelled defence aircraft and air ambulances, etc. The global outlook at the dawn of the new year projected our country’s oil demand to rise at the fastest pace in the world to reach 5.05 million barrels per day in 2020 and reach 10 million barrels per day by 2030. However, in just a span of three months, all forecasts have become subject to revision. India has a large appetite for energy and we hope to regain lost ground at the earliest. Our low per capita consumption, far below the global average, presents us with a huge future potential. Amid the COVID-19 crisis, the oil and gas industry kept its promise and the nation leapfrogged from the BS-IV fuel emission standards to the ultra-clean BS-VI standards. The mammoth task was completed well before the deadline of April 1, 2020 with IndianOil leading the way. During the year, 1,400 fuel stations including 664 Kisan Seva Kendras and 271 CNG stations were commissioned - the highest in the industry. The opening of the fuel retailing sector will only give the Corporation more opportunities. The fth phase of the Dhruva program was rolled out, covering 12,000 fuel stations. The total network coverage under the Dhruva programme has now expanded to 23,000 outlets. The launch of Dhruva 2.0 tech platform will help focus on implementation and speeding up all pending activities. In a signi cant breakthrough, nearly 100% of IndianOil's retail network has been fully automated. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over an LPG connection to Ayesha Shaikh in Aurangabad last September, the target of eight crore connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was achieved seven months ahead of target. IndianOil played a pivotal role in the implementation of the scheme by releasing more than 3.75 crore connections. Riding on the success of the PMUY scheme, sales of LPG reached an all-time high of 12.3 MMT, a year-on-year growth of 6.6%. Indane is now selling around 27 lakh cylinders every day. The Corporation has always put the nation rst, and maintained uninterrupted supplies in the aftermath of Cyclone Fani, and monsoons in Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra, including arranging supplies from alternate locations. Asia’s rst international pipeline, built by IndianOil, connecting Motihari (Bihar) and Amlekhgunj (Nepal) was inaugurated in September, 2019, ensuring easier supply of fuel to Nepal. To meet the requirement of world-class fuels for the Indian Navy, IndianOil launched High Flash HSD
Introduction and IMO 2020-compliant marine fuel and lubricants for the global shipping industry. Another innovation came in the form of special winter-grade diesel for the high-altitude regions of Ladakh, with a low pour point of -33 degree Celsius. Such measures highlight the Corporation’s adaptability in this ever-changing business landscape. 2020 is the Year of Digitalisation, and the Marketing Division is set to embrace processes and technologies that will boost our operational ef ciency, while helping optimise costs.
