About Obudu Association in North America (OANA)OANA IDENTITYOur Identity is made up of Six (6) distinguishing symbolisms:1. THE TREE represents life.2. THE HILL represent the obstacle that must be overcome in our socio- economic landscape for the benefit of our community.3. THE AMERICAN AND NIGERIAN FLAGS represent our common goals in promoting unity, and exchange of ideas in our cross-continental heritage.4. THE BOOK represents an incubator of knowledge that can subsequently unleash the talents, ingenuity, imagination and foresight to do things that can improve the quality life in our community.5. THE BIRD represents the agent of hope and freedom. It signifies how far and high we can reach when our bright ideas or various viewpoints coalesce constructively to enable us achieve a desired goal.6. THE SUN represents the light and positive energy that guide our innovation and continuous effort to make changes as needed on the road to accomplish our mission.OUR STORY FUND RAISING AND PROJECT INFORMATIONOANA is a 501c 3 Non - Profit Organization formed in July 2014. The TB CENTER RESTORATION PROJECT FUND – PHASE 2goal of OANA is to bring to bear the collective experiences of Obudusons and daughters in the diaspora to lead and facilitate, sponsor Last year we undertook a bold initiative of asking you to donate to ourand build capacity and skills, in order to develop opportunities for tuberculosis (TB) center restoration project in rural Obudu community in Crossworld-class education and self-sustaining programs for Obudu River State, Nigeria. We set out an aggressive goal of raising $50,000 tocommunity at home and abroad. OANA is focused on three core implement the project. However, our fund raising efforts fell short of targeted byprograms. about 95%. We could only raise $5,000, primarily through our raffle sales. The funds helped us to complete the following component of the project at the TB1. EDUCATION ACCESS PROGRAM center.This program is geared towards providing supporting andidentifying educational resources to current educational facilities. 1. Built four (4) new toiletsProjects under this program are: RECYCLE - A - BOOK (RAB). 2. Restored 20 hospital beds, furnished with pillows, blankets, and mosquitoMENTOR - A - SCHOOL (MAS). REHABILITATE - IT project (RI) nets2. TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER PROGRAM 3. Restored and painted patients’ rooms as well as flooringProjects interest under this program are: TECHNOLOGY TRANSFERTRAINING (3T). TECHNOLOGY REUSE CORPS (TRC) This progress would not have been possible without your generous donations. We applaud your dedication to our mission and to a brighter future for the patients who have begun enjoying some of the amenities. Obviously, it has not been easy, and we still have many challenges ahead of us as we now embark on phase 11 of the project at the TB center, which will include: 1. Adding a new roof to the patients’ chapel 2. Restoring the borehole to provide clean running water 3. Provide solar light for the center3. SELF-SUSTAINING DEVELOPMENT This year, we invite you to contribute to this effort by making direct donation toPROGRAM the project (scan the code on this letter), or purchasing a raffle ticket for drawingThe Self Sustaining Enterprises (SSE) program is aimed at self which will be held on July 30 at 8:00 p.m. in Staten Island, New York.
