Ladyville SDA Primary School New-Normal Guidelines
Level one How can the spread of COVID-19 be slowed down or prevented? As with other respiratory infections like the flu or the common cold, public health measures are critical to slow the spread of illnesses. Public health measures are everyday preventive actions that include: Staying home when sick. Covering mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of used tissue immediately. Washing hands often with soap and water. Cleaning frequently touched surfaces and objects. Ensuring that social distance is maintained. As we learn more about COVID-19, the various health precautions will stay in place to ensure the safety of teachers, staff, other children and parents. LEVEL ONE School Operational Plan Learning Continuity Plan – Distant Learning Approach - Currently, due to COVID 19, students are not permitted to go to school by the Government of Belize (GOB). Therefore, no face to face teaching is taking place at the Primary Level. - Following guidelines from the Ministry of Education (MOE) for continuity learning assignments which lends itself for distance learning, packages will be prepared for students at the primary school level. - A package consisting of content, example instructions and activities will be prepared for Infant One to Standard Six students by teachers respectively. - Teachers will be trained to use platforms such as: Google classroom, Zoom Whatsapp and others to enhance distance learning. - Parents will also ensure that students complete and upload work in the Google Classroom- for those students that have internet and electronic device.
- Parents will pick up packages and ensure that students complete their homework. They will also be responsible to assist students in their learning at home and to return packages to school on the returning dates set by the school. - Teachers will create a Whatsapp group to be in contact with their parents and students and to assist in the learning process as much as possible. - The school will develop an assessment system that will lend itself to the two week cycle and distance learning. Alternate Days- Ten days Cycle, (2 wks.) Group A ------Monday -------Wednesday-------Friday Group B -------Tuesday --------Thursday - In the event school re-opens for face to face instructions, the day shift (two weeks cycle) will be implemented. However, due to social distances protocol only half of the student population will be allowed to be on campus per day. The 180 contact days will be cut to half (90). - The whole student population will be divided into two groups; Group A and Group B. For week one, Group A students will attend classes Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Group B students will attend Tuesday and Thursday. For week two Group B students will attend classes Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while Group A students will attend Tuesday and Thursday. At the end of the two weeks, both groups would have received the same amount of classes. Note: January 2022, school will reopen for face-to-face instruction for Upper Division only. Group A will attend classes Mondays and Wednesdays while Group B attends class Tuesdays and Thursdays. There will be no classes on Fridays. School Time table - Due to a large population, scheduling was necessary to maintain social distancing while learning continues at school and home. - Class schedules will be prepared for all subjects including time for recovery and psychosocial. Students’ breaks time and dismissal for the three divisions will be staggered and lunch will be at their respective classrooms under the supervision of the class teacher.
