DRESS CODE POLICY Personal Appearance & Work Attire As a GAI employee/volunteer, your appearance and work attire reflect GAI’s professionalism and high level of commitment to the guest experience. Paid/Non-Paid Team Members are expected to exercise good judgment to maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times, avoid extremes in dress, length and reflect the proper business atmosphere of GAI. Additionally, as part of the professional GAI work attire, uniforms, employee I.D. badges, employee name badges, and security badges may be required while an employee is on premises. The GAI work attire may be modified by departments as determined reasonable and appropriate for the operation of that department. Department Vice Presidents may take into consideration the following when determining appropriate work attire for their departments: • The nature of guest contact, if any, and the normal expectation of outside parties with whom employees will work with as a major function of their job • Safety Considerations • The nature of the work performed Team Members are required to adhere to the following guidelines: Tattoos - The Georgia Aquarium is a place where creativity thrives as people explore the wonders of the aquatic world. Tattoos can be a personal expression of creativity, but we also need to ensure that our environment remains friendly and open to our educational pursuits. The Aquarium does not permit facial tattoos, but it will permit me to display other tattoos so long as they do not interfere with my specific departmental work or the mission of the Aquarium. If I have visible tattoos, my department leader or other manager will consider: 1. My specific job duties and functions; 2. My personal safety and the safety of others; 3. Offensiveness to my fellow team members, guests, or student groups; 4. Corporate or social norms; 5. Whether the tattoo was done for religious purposes; and 6. Any complaints about my tattoo received from co-workers, guests, or student groups. If my supervisor or other management determines that my tattoo conflicts with the Aquarium’s mission, they will meet with me to explain the reasons and other reasonable accommodations, such as covering the tattoo. If I disagree, I may appeal to Human Resources. If I have a facial tattoo that I believe was done for religious purposes, I will contact Human Resources to determine whether this can be reasonably accommodated.
