Climate Italy has a predominantly Mediterranean climate with mild, sometimes rainy winters and sunny, hot, and usually dry summers. However, with such a large area and so many different geographical features—from high mountains to over 4,000 miles coastline, you’ll find plenty of regional differences and even micro-climates.

Religion Religion in Italy is characterised by the predominance of Christianity and an increasing diversity of religious practices, beliefs and denominations. Most Christians in Italy adhere to the Catholic Church, whose headquarters are in Vatican City, Rome.

Type of Government The Government of Italy is in the form of a democratic republic, and was established by a constitution in 1948. It consists of legislative, executive, and judicial subdivisions, as well as a Head of State, or President. Article 1 of the Italian Constitution states: Italy is a democratic Republic founded on labour. Sovereignty belongs to the people and is exercised by the people in the forms and within the limits of the Constitution. By stating that Italy is a democratic republic, the article solemnly declares the results of the constitutional referendum which took place on 2 June 1946. The State is not a hereditary property of the ruling monarch, but it is instead a Res Publica, belonging to everyone.

Scientific Development Science and technology in Italy has a long presence, from the Roman era and the Renaissance. Through the centuries, Italy has advanced the scientific community which produced many significant inventions and discoveries in biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, astronomy and the other sciences.

Per Capita Income The economy of Italy is the third-largest national economy in the European Union, the eighth-largest by nominal GDP in the world, and the 13th-largest by GDP. Italy is a founding member of the European Union, the Eurozone, the OECD, the G7 and the G20 it is the tenth-largest exporter in the world, with $632 billion exported in 2019. Its closest trade ties are with the other countries of the European Union, with whom it conducts about 59% of its total trade. The largest trading partners, in order of market share in exports, are Germany (12.5%), France (10.3%), the United States (9%), Spain (5.2%), the United Kingdom (5.2%) and Switzerland (4.6%).

Cuisine Coffee- Coffee grown worldwide can trace its heritage back centuries to the ancient coffee forest on the Ethiopian plateau. Pizza- The Morden birthplace of pizza is southwestern Italy’s Campania region, home to the city of Naples. Truffles- the chocolate truffle actually gets its name from a fungus. The black truffle is a species of truffle native to Southern Europe. It is most expensive edible mushroom in the world.

Famous Monuments Roman forum- The Roman Forum, also known by its Latin name Forum Romanum, is a rectangular plaza surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the centre of the city of Rome. Valley of temples- Valley of the Temples is an archaeological site in Agrigento Sicily. It is one of the most outstanding examples of Greater Greece art and architecture, and is one of the main attractions of Sicily as listed in 1997.

Tourist Places The Canals, Venice- The Grand Canal is a channel in Venice, Italy. It forms one of the major water-traffic corridors in the city. One end of the canal leads into the lagoon near the Santa Lucia railway station and the other end leads into the basin at San Marco; in between, it makes a large reverse-S shape through the central districts of Venice. It is 3.8 km long, and 30 to 90 m wide, with an average depth of 5 metres. Leaning Tower, Pisa- The Leaning Tower of Pisa is the campanile, or freestanding bell tower, of the cathedral of the Italian city of Pisa, known worldwide for its nearly four- degree lean, the result of an unstable foundation. The tower is situated behind the

Famous Personalities Christopher Columbus was an explorer and navigator who completed four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean, opening the way for the widespread European exploration and colonization of the Americas. His expeditions were the first European contact with the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. Galileo Galilei was an astronomer, physicist and engineer from Pisa. Galileo has been called the \"father of modern science”. He invented the thermoscope and various military compasses, and used the telescope for scientific observations of celestial objects. His contributions to observational astronomy include telescopic confirmation of the phases of Venus, observation of the four largest

satellites of Jupiter, observation of Saturn's rings, and analysis of sunspots.
