Supplications from the Qur’an & Sunnah Allah will test His slaves by the trial of Dajjal, and He will enable Dajjal to do some things that only Allah (SWT) can do, such as bringing back to life a dead person whom he killed, or bringing about prosperity and abundance in this world. He will have with him his paradise and his hell, and his two rivers, and the treasures of the earth will follow him; he will order the sky to send down rain and it will do so, and he will order the earth to bring forth vegetation and it will do so. Dajjal will have the ability to do this only by the will and decree of Allah (SWT) The trial of the Dajjal is one of the greatest & most dangerous of trials and tribulations All the messengers of Allah from Nuh to Muhammad ‫ ﷺ‬warned their people from this fitna (trial) We must follow the command of our Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬and seek refuge in Allah from the trial of Dajjal After seeking refuge from these things in our prayer, we can ask Allah and supplicate to Him with whatever we wish, for indeed He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive & the Giver. Source: https://sunnah.com/ https://islamqa.info/en/answers/45804/the-people-of-hell-will-abide-therein-forever https://dorar.net/en/ahadith/73 https://islamqa.info/en/answers/42970/the-dajjaal-will-emerge-at-the-end-of-time-so-why-did-the- prophets-warn-their-people-about-him-and-when-and-where-will-he-emerge An-Noor Al-Mubeen Project 51

Grant me health in my body. O Allah, make me healthy in my hearing. O Allah, make me healthy in my sight. There is no God but You [Sahih Abu-Dawud] AbdurRahman ibn AbuBakrah said that he told his father: O my father! I hear you supplicating every morning: \"O Allah! Grant me health in my body. O Allah, make me healthy in my hearing. O Allah, make me healthy in my sight. There is no God but You.\" You repeat them three times in the morning and three times in the evening. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬using these words as a supplication and I like to follow his practice. [Abu Dawud] This shows that companions of the Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬were eager to put what they learned into practice. They followed his example and taught those who came after them. When we learn new supplications, we should try to learn them and teach them to our families & loved ones. An-Noor Al-Mubeen Project 52

Supplications from the Qur’an & Sunnah Explanation: In this prayer, we ask Allah to protect our bodies, our hearing & our sight. This means that we are asking to be granted good health and that we use that blessing to fulfill our purpose in life. What is our purpose in life? ⬇ ✅ Allah says: “And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.” [51:56] When we ask Allah for ʿafiyah (good health) in our bodies, we are asking that He grant us the strength to serve Him & worship Him. Many scholars have noted that the Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬specified hearing & sight. They point out that these senses allow us to know Allah’s blessings ⬇ ✅ We see His signs in His creation (His creation of the heavens, earth, sun & moon etc.) & hear His speech in the words of the Qur’an. Hearing and sight are also the main pathways to the heart ⬇ ✅ If the eyes and ears have ʿafiyah (good health), the heart is safe from doubt and desire. When we ask Allah for ʿafiyah (good health) in hearing & sight, we are asking for more than protection from loss ⬇ An-Noor Al-Mubeen Project 53

Supplications from the Qur’an & Sunnah ✅ We are begging for protection from seeing and hearing disliked or haram things cause us to be neglectful of Allah’s commands. Source: https://yaqeeninstitute.org/tahirwyatt/duas-for-relief-and-protection https://sunnah.com/ Supplication 18: Explanation & Benefits ‫ﺎ َﻣﻧﱠﺎ ۚ َرﺑﱠﻧَﺎ ﻓَﭑ ْﻏ ِﻔ ْر ﻟَﻧَﺎ ذُﻧُوﺑَﻧَﺎ‬x‫ﱠرﺑﱠﻧَﺎٓ ِإﻧﱠﻧَﺎ َﺳ ِﻣ ْﻌﻧَﺎ ُﻣﻧَﺎ ِدﯾﺎً ﯾُﻧَﺎ ِدى ِﻟ ْ ِﻺﯾ َﻣ ٰـ ِن أَ ْن َءا ِﻣﻧُواْ ِﺑ َر ِﺑّﻛُ ْم ﻓَـ‬ ‫﴾ َرﺑﱠﻧَﺎ َو َءا ِﺗﻧَﺎ َﻣﺎ َو َﻋدﺗﱠﻧَﺎ َﻋﻠَ ٰﻰ ُرﺳُ ِﻠ َك َو َﻻ‬193﴿ ‫ﺎ ِﺗﻧَﺎ َوﺗَ َوﻓﱠﻧَﺎ َﻣ َﻊ ٱ ْﻷَ ْﺑ َرا ِر‬x‫َو َﻛ ِﻔّ ْر َﻋﻧﱠﺎ َﺳ ِﯾّـ‬ ﴾194﴿ َ‫ﺗُ ْﺧ ِزﻧَﺎ ﯾَ ْو َم ٱ ْﻟ ِﻘﯾَ ٰـ َﻣ ِﺔ إﻧﱠ َك َﻻ ﺗُ ْﺧ ِﻠ ُف ٱ ْﻟ ِﻣﯾﻌَﺎد‬ Rabbana innana sami'na munadiyan yunadee lil-eemani an aminoo birabbikum faamanna rabbana faghfir lana thunoobana wakaffir 'anna sayyiaatina watawaffana ma'al-abrar ﴾193﴿ Rabbana waatina mawa'adtana 'ala rusulika wala tukhzina yawma alqiyamati innaka la tukhlifu almee'ad ﴾194﴿ Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller calling to faith, [saying], 'Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed. Supplications from the Qur’an & Sunnah Our Lord! Verily, we have heard the call of one calling to faith Meaning: a caller who calls to faith, referring to the Messenger of Allah. `Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed Meaning: we have accepted his call and followed him Our Lord! Forgive us our sins Meaning: forgive our sins and cover them on account of our faith and obeying Your Prophet and expiate from us our evil deeds Meaning: forgive our sins between us and You, in private and make us die along with Al-Abrar Meaning: join us with the righteous people Our Lord! Grant us what You promised unto us through Your Messengers Meaning 1: grant us what You promised us for our faith in Your Messengers Meaning 2: and this explanation is better; grant us what You promised us by the words of Your Messengers and disgrace us not on the Day of Resurrection Here the slave asks Allah to not disgrace him on the Day of Judgement in front of all creation for You never break (Your) Promise Meaning: for surely, the promise that You conveyed to Your Messengers, which includes us being resurrected before You, shall certainly come to pass An-Noor Al-Mubeen Project 55

Take me to Your care with those whom You have taken to Your care. Bless me in what You have given me. Protect me from the evil You have ordained. Surely, You command and are not commanded, and none whom You have committed to Your care shall be humiliated [and none whom You have taken as an enemy shall taste glory]. You are Blessed, Our Lord, and Exalted. [Abu Dawud, An-Nasaai, At-Tirmidhi] Al-Hasan bin Ali narrated that the Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬taught him this supplication to say when standing in supplication (Qunoot) during the Witr prayer. This supplication begins with a request for guidance, which is one of the most comprehensive things a person can ask for. Whoever is guided by Allah will achieve all that is good in this life and the next. Because we need divine guidance in every aspect of our lives, Allah requires us to say: “Guide us to the straight path” in every rak’ah of prayer [1:6] An-Noor Al-Mubeen Project 57

Supplications from the Qur’an & Sunnah This is especially important during these times of trials & adversity. Allah reminds of this in the Qur’an: \"No disaster strikes except by permission of Allah. And whoever believes in Allah - He will guide his heart. And Allah is Knowing of all things.\" [64:11] This means that whoever suffers an affliction must know that it occurred by Allah’s decree. ➡ So, one should patiently endure the hardship and anticipate Allah’s reward ➡ If he does so, Allah will guide his heart, grant him certainty in faith, and replace whatever he lost with something equal or better. The Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬said: “How wonderful is the case of a believer; there is good for him in everything and this applies only to a believer. If prosperity attends him, he expresses gratitude to Allah and that is good for him; and if adversity befalls him, he endures it patiently and that is better for him\". [Muslim] Benefits: In addition to guidance, this dua’a includes four other requests: 1) Well-being (a’afiya) Including protection from physical, mental, and spiritual diseases When making this dua’a, one should not neglect to think about being cured of spiritual diseases ⬇ These are two main types: vain desires (shahawāt) & doubts (shubuhāt) An-Noor Al-Mubeen Project 58

Supplications from the Qur’an & Sunnah 2) Request for Allah to be your walī (a close, watchful companion and ally) Allah says: “Allah is the ally of those who believe. He brings them out from darknesses into the light.” [2:257] This special type of companionship and guardianship includes Allah’s guidance, aid, and protection. Allah also says: “Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. Those who believed and were fearing Allah” [10:62-63] This clarifies that the friends of Allah are people of faith and taqwa. When we say: “Take me to Your care with those whom You have taken to Your care”... we are asking Allah to grant us faith (iman) and piety (taqwa). 3) Request for Allah to bless everything He has bestowed upon us Allah has given us everything we have, tangible or intangible. He has granted us knowledge, hearing, sight, wealth, children, and faith. Allah’s barakah protects what He has blessed us with from destruction 4) Protection from the evil of what Allah has decreed Difference between evil and things we dislike: An-Noor Al-Mubeen Project 59

Supplications from the Qur’an & Sunnah Allah says: “Perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not.” [2:216] These are matters that we may dislike, although they may be good for us & later we see Allah’s wisdom in it Evil is a different matter ➡ being dissatisfied with Allah’s decree, not trusting Him, and losing faith in Him are all examples of evil In this supplication we ask Allah for protection from evils such as these. Allah has given people the ability to obey or disobey Him. ➡ Although disobedience, occurs by Allah’s will, is not pleasing to Allah… it is the evil of what Allah decreed. ➡ So in this prayer we are seeking Allah’s protection from disbelief, idolatry, murder, adultery, and all other evils that exist. Source: https://yaqeeninstitute.org/tahirwyatt/duas-for-relief-and-protection An-Noor Al-Mubeen Project 60

Allahuma ihfathni min bayni yadayya, wa min khalfi, wa 'an yamini wa 'an shimali, wa min fawqi, wa 'authu bi’athamatika an ughtaala min tahti O Allah, I seek Your forgiveness and well-being in this world and the next. O Allah, I seek Your forgiveness and Your protection in my religion, in my worldly affairs, in my family and in my wealth. O Allah, conceal my secrets and preserve me from anguish. O Allah, guard me from what is in front of me and behind me, from my left, and from my right, and from above me. I seek refuge in Your Greatness from being struck down from beneath me. [Abu Dawud, An-Nasaai, Ibn Majah] ⭐ The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬consistently made this supplication every morning and every evening. ✅ Ibn Umar (RA) said: “The Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬never failed to say these words in the evening and in the morning.” [An-Nasa'i, Abu Dawud & Ibn Majah] ⭐ In this dua’a, the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬asked for ‘afiya - which translates to well-being, safety or security, and means to be free of illnesses & afflictions. An-Noor Al-Mubeen Project 61

Supplications from the Qur’an & Sunnah ⭐ ‘Afiyah is much more than physical health ⬇ ✅ It includes spiritual, emotional, & social well-being. ⭐ Supplicating to Allah for ‘afiyah (well-being, safety or security) is very important ⬇ ✅ The Prophet’s uncle, al-Abbas said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, teach me something that I may ask Allah, [Mighty and Sublime] for.’ He (‫ )ﷺ‬said: ‘Ask Allah for Al-`Āfiyah.’ Then I remained for a day, then I came and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, teach me something that I may ask Allah for.’ So he (‫)ﷺ‬ said to me: “O Abbas, O uncle of the Messenger of Allah! Ask Allah for Al-`Āfiyah in the world and in the Hereafter.” [at-Tirmidhi] ⭐ In this hadeeth, the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬emphasized the importance of asking for ’afiyah. ⭐ This is because ’afiyah includes Allah’s safeguarding of His servant from every misfortune & tribulation, by: turning evil away from him protecting him from afflictions & sickness and guarding him from evil and committing sin Explanation: 62 An-Noor Al-Mubeen Project

Supplications from the Qur’an & Sunnah In this particular dua’a , the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬asks for ’afiyah in this world and the hereafter. He also asks for ’afiyah in his religion, worldly affairs, family, and property. 1) ‘Afiyah in the religion means that one is protected from doubts, misunderstandings, and evil thoughts. It includes anything that would hurt our faith or cause our worship to be deficient. Notice that this is the first thing that the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬mentions in this dua’a. When a person’s religious affairs are in order, their bond with Allah is strong. This will cause every other aspect of life to improve. 2) Afiyah in worldly affairs includes protection from any physical or mental harm or other forms of hardship. 3) Afiyah in family means that they are protected from trials, misfortune, and severe suffering. 4) Afiyah in wealth is that it is preserved from anything that would destroy it, including floods, fires, and theft. 5) Afiyah in the hereafter is that one is protected from any distress or punishment in the next life. O Allah, conceal my secrets and preserve me from anguish. Supplications from the Qur’an & Sunnah ➡ The slave asks Allah to conceal his flaws and shortcomings and all that will cause him harm if it is revealed. ➡ Next, the slave asks Allah to protect him from anguish, which includes: matters that cause sadness, fear, anxiety or worry The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬taught us to ask Allah to protect us & grant us security from every direction. ➡ In this supplication we say: “O Allah, guard me from what is in front of me and behind me, from my left, and from my right, and from above me.” The greatest evil that we need protection from is the evil of Shaytan. ➡ We know that he is lurking, waiting for every chance to turn us away from the path that pleases Allah. This is what Allah has told us that Shaytan said: \"Because You have put me in error, I will surely sit in wait for them on Your straight path. Then I will come to them from before them and from behind them and on their right and on their left, and You will not find most of them grateful [to You].\" [7:16- 17] This dua’a is one of the best ways that a believer can seek Allah’s protection from Shaytan and from any other evil. “I seek refuge in Your Greatness from being struck down from beneath me.” ➡ Here the slave seeks refuge in Allah the Most-Great from earthquakes or sinkholes. Source: https://yaqeeninstitute.org/tahirwyatt/duas-for-relief-and-protection An-Noor Al-Mubeen Project 64
