Explain the terms : Field , Record and Field Name. ANS: FIELD -A field is a column that contains only one type of data. For example: Roll No, Name , Age etc. Record- A record is a row in a database. It contains data and information about a person or an item. For example : 1 , Amit , 12 etc. Field Name - Field name is a column label. A field can have only one field name which must be unique. For example: Roll No, Name , Age etc are field names. 2. Describe Form feature of Excel. ANS: A form in Excel is a small screen that contains the fields of a database along with the space to add , modify or view one record at a time. A form also contains certain command buttons to perform various tasks. 3. Differentiate between sorting & filtering data. ANS: Sorting- Sorting means to arrange the data in a specific order (numerically or alphabetically).
Filtering- The filter feature of Excel helps us to display only those records that meet the specified criteria and hide the rest of the records. 4. Explain Custom filtering. ANS: Custom filter feature in Excel is used to quickly filter the data based on certain conditions. For example : “ greater than or equal to” , “less than or equal to” etc. 5. Describe the Data validation feature. ANS: Data validation feature in Excel allow us to set certain rules to restrict the data or values to be entered by the user. 6. Define Database with examples. ANS: Database is an organised collection of information. A database helps to organise , modify, view and edit data. Database is made up of fields & records. Example: An address book , phone diary , student attendance record etc.
