What is It Before giving a shampoo, gather all necessary materials and tools to be used as it can be annoying to the client to have the hairstylist run for the necessary tools in the middle of the treatment. Tools and materials used: Towels Cape Hair Brush Blow Dryer Finishing Products Towel Dry and Comb Hair Ever wonder why sometimes when you blow-dry your hair, it is all over the place and is sometimes frizzy even though you just took care of it? Some people take care of their hair too much without knowing the proper process. Some of them wonder why their hair is all over the place which is the outcome of the improper towel drying practice we do at home. Towel Drying is the process of drying the hair after shampooing. Simple, but in this process lies the outcome of the hairstyle and the health of the hair itself. When we go on a hair salon, sometimes after shampooing, they massage your head. That is how you should do it. Why? Because vigorously rubbing the hair with a towel destroys the hair cuticle and that creates what we call the frizz. This readies the hair for blow drying and styling. 5

How to Properly Towel-dry the Hair STEP 1 Wrap the head with a towel - After Shampooing the hair, wrap the hair with the towel around the hair line. STEP 2 Massage the head - Place your hands on the top of STEP 3 the head and gently and firmly squeeze the head with little circular motions to remove all the extra moisture downward into the ponytail. Avoid roughing the hair as this will create tangles and damage or create fractures on the hair. Take the towel off the hair – Gently take the towel off the head as to not cut any hair. STEP 4 Take the towel off the hair – Gently take the towel off the head as to not cut any hair. It is important to let the hair stay damp and not sopping wet. The hair is now ready for combing. Combing or brushing your hair is a ritual that greatly diminishes the number of strands on the hair. This is due to the wrong way of combing but combing or brushing your hair regularly helps the oil glands; thus, adding a natural shine to the hair. 6

How to properly Comb the Hair 1. Get a handful of hair that cannot fully cover your hand and slide through to the ends to at least 3 inches off the ends. 2. Hold the hair and comb through the ends. 3. Gradually comb through by adding inches off where you previously combed. 4. And then work your way through to the roots of your hair. 5. Apply blow-drying product and the hair is now ready for blow drying. Blow-Dry the Hair Following Standard Procedure Blow-Drying is the most crucial part of hairdressing. Most hairstyles are achieved through the blow-drying process, and this is also the part where the finished hairstyle is shown. This is the methodologic process of speeding up the drying of the hair and styling it but should be skipped for naturally curly hair as to not destroy the curls. 1. Use the blow dry nozzle - Attaching the blow-dry nozzle will concentrate the air on the area you are blow-drying. 2. Section the hair - Subdivide the hair into four and work from the nape section. HEIGHT SECTIONS ROOTS MIDDLE ENDS 3. Comb each section thoroughly - Glide the comb through the hair unhurriedly while applying tension with the comb followed by the blow-dryer starting from the middle back section. Working from left to right, begin at the ends and work up through the middle lengths to the roots. 4. Once one section is dry, proceed to another section - Keep the hair in a smooth state while blow-drying, so that kinks do not appear in the finished style. 5. Continue to blow-dry the hair, working through the sections until you get to the front hairline. Change direction by blow-drying the hair around the front hairline in a backward movement away from the hairline. This will ensure that the whole head is blow- dried to the same degree. 7

ROOTS MIDDLE ENDS BASE SECTIONS VOLUME SECTIONS Apply Finishing Product on Blow-Dried Hair After all the past processes that you have just learned about the hair condition of your client, you now can identify the types of hair and what product to use on the hair to improve its condition. Hairspray (aerosol) – Hair spray is a must-have and the most common cosmetic hairstyling product. Hairdressing creams - can be applied on the scalp or ends if the hair is dry. It can be used on coarse hair or fine-textured hair as it can be controlled using the quantity of usage. Coarse textured hair will require more dressing and fine-textured hair will need less dressing. Oil sheen spray – is used to give an added shine to the hair.
