WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY BY RAJAT DEY, UMAKANTA ACADEMY World Environment Day uncovers a realm untouched by human hands, where the extraordinary thrives in breathtaking splendor. Imagine trees whispering ancient secrets, their branches swaying to a celestial melody. In this ethereal expanse, vibrant flora and fauna intermingle, painting a tapestry of harmonious colours. Each sunrise unveils unseen hues, as if nature wields a cosmic brush. On this momentous day, let us embark on a wondrous journey, where mythical creatures roam and magic fills the air. Embrace the secrets of this hidden realm, for we are the guardians of its enchantment. Happy World Environment Day, where the extraordinary become our reality ! USE OF POLYTHENE BAGS AND THEIR Jai Hind EFFECTS BY SMRITI MAJUMDER, ISWAR CHANDRA VIDYASAGAR COLLEGE, 03 BELONIA. JUNE 2021 ISSUE I Use of polythene bag now a day’s increased immensely. Nobody carries the goods in a cotton or jute bags as was used in earlier times. Poly bag reacts with food and make it toxic. The drains in cities and towns get logged with them. Waste from big industries pollute rivers, polluted water endangered the aquatic animals. Roads and streets were full of plastic bags; we often see them here and there. When the plastic bags were burnt and smoke released it causes asthma, other and even cancer and skin diseases too. This is the right time to avoid the use of plastic bags otherwise our next generation will not be able to survive and we will be held responsible for this. Jai Hind

NOISE POLLUTION BY LITAN DEBBARMA, SVM, MOHANPUR Noise pollution is the constant presence of loud, disruptive noises in an area. Usually, noise pollution is caused by construction or nearby transportation facilities, such as airports. Noise pollution is unpleasant, and can be dangerous. Some songbirds, such as robins, are unable to communicate or find food in the presence of heavy noise pollution. The sound waves produced by some noise pollutants can disrupt the sonar used by marine animals to communicate or locate food. Jai Hind WORDS ON ENVIRONMENT BY KUMARI 04 PARNITA, KV KUNJABAN NO.1 JUNE 2021 ISSUE I Our environment is the nature's most precious and vital gift, and it needs to be handled with utmost care. It is the natural ecological system where we live with each other for survival. The environment is divided into physical and biological components. Environment forms the ecosystem of in which all living organisms survive together. We dependent on each other for our survival, if one living organism is disturbed, the whole cycle gets disturbed. The ecosystem comprises human being, plants animals and microbes among the living things and non living things comprises rocks, sand, soil, water and minerals that together play a crucial role in the functioning of the environment. Jai Hind

WATER POLLUTION BY KHAKCHANG DEBBARMA , SVM, MOHANPUR Water pollution has become a continuous increasing problem on the earth which is affecting the human and animal lives in all aspects. Water pollution is the contamination of drinking water by the poisonous pollution generated by the human activities. The whole water is getting pollution through many sources such as urban runoff, agricultural, industrial, sedimentary, leeching from landfills, animal wastes, and other human activities. All the pollutants are very harmful to the environment. Human population is increasing day by day and thus their needs and competition leading pollution to the top level. We need to follow some drastic changes in our habits to save the earth water as well as continue to possibility of life. THE WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY BY PRASANJIT DAS, Jai Hind UMAKANTA ACADEMY 2023 marks the 50th anniversary World Environment 05 Day after it was established by the United Nations general assembly in 1972 over the past five decades. JUNE 2021 ISSUE I with the United Nation and environment program (UNEP) at the largest global platforms for environmental outreach. Millions of people participate online and through in person activities, event and actions around the world. Plastic is made from fossil fuels more plastic we produce, the more fossil fuel we burn, and the worse we make the climate crisis. But we have solutions, \" UN Secretary general Antonio Guterres said in his world Environment Day message- we must work as one government, companies and Consumers alike- to break our addictions to plastics, champion zero waste, and build a truly circular economy\". Jai Hind

GLOBAL WARMING BY ANUTAMA GOUR, SVM, MOHANPUR Global warming is the cumulative rise in overall global temperature on earth measured over a long period of time. It has been attributed to the large scale deforestation exploitation of natural resource. Use of fossil fuels and over population is one of the reasons for global warming. With a human crowd increasing exponentially it has become impossible to meet each and every one's energy requirements. We must understand that natural resources are limited on earth and we must use them judiciously. If we keep on exploiting the natural resources like forest water and vegetation very soon we will face mass extinction and the earth will wipe out the entire human race. As our great leader Mahatma Gandhi said that earth has enough has enough for everyone needs but not for everyone’s greed. Jai Hind WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY BY HEMLATA BHARTI, KV KUNJABAN NO.1 World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5th of 06 June every year. It was celebrated for the first time in 1974. The United Nations general assembly decided to JUNE 2021 ISSUE I gather all nations together to bring forth attention on these kinds of environmental problems that creates a threat to not just human but also to the plants and animals. Every year a different country hosts the celebration of environment Day. The theme for World Environment Day depends on the environmental problems that have to be administered immediately and differs year to year. Last year the theme for environment day was ecosystem restoration and this year the theme is one Earth. There are lots of movements and initiatives taken globally in order to save the environment. However, as a inhabitant of the planet, it is also our duty to do whatever we can to the restore the environment and make it sustainable. Jai Hind

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY BY SUDIPTA DEBNATH, SURYAMANI NAGAR H.S SCHOOL June 5th is celebrated as World Environment Day all over the world. It is a day to spread awareness about protecting the environment. June 5th was declared as World Environment Day by the United Nation general assembly Stockholm conference human environment in 1972. It leads to the creation of the United Nations environment World Environment Day programme. The first World Environment Day was celebrated in 1974 in Spokane, USA. Biodiversity is an essential thing, and it should be maintained to lead a peaceful and resourceful live upon the face of the earth. Jai Hind PLASTIC POLLUTION BY BABLI SARKAR, SVM, MOHANPUR 07 Plastic is a light strong material that is made with JUNE 2021 ISSUE I chemicals and is used for making many different sorts of objects. But now a day’s plastic pollution is affecting the whole earth, including mankind, wildlife and aquatic life. It is spreading like a disease which has no cure. Plastic pollution is caused due to the accumulation of the waste plastic material in the environment. Plastic is a non- biodegradable substance. It doesn’t get disposed off in the soil or water and its effects is worse when it burnt. It is thus a challenge to dispose it off. They remain in the environment for hundreds of years and causes air, water and land pollution. It is hazardous for the humans, animals as well as the plants. Several animals, birds and marine creatures die due to plastic pollution each year. Plastic plates, bags, spoons, glasses and other material are rapidly available in the market. These are economical and easy to use. People prefer using these use -and -throw material during their busy life. However plastic become a part of our life and we cannot avoid their uses completely. For instance, instead of using plastic bags, we can easily use jute bags, cloth or paper bag. Plastic pollution is a cause of serious concern. It is increasing because of the negligence of humans. We all must realise the harmful impact it has on our lives so as to avert it as soon as possible and create the awareness among the people for our convenience. Jai Hind

GREEN HOUSE AFFECT BY ANUPRIYA GOUR, SVM, MOHANPUR The atmosphere of earth receives energy on daily basis from various resources including sun. However it is a natural cycle that earth's atmosphere absorb heat which again passes back to the space in order to maintain the natural cycle in the universe nowadays increasing level of green house gases in the environment released through many sources has disturbed the natural cycle by trapping heat many resources and protecting them to go back to the space. Do the current environment has become warmer than the earlier environment. Jai Hind ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION BY ANKUR DEY, SVM, MOHANPUR Everything that we see in our surroundings forms 08 environment. It is our basic life support system. It provides us air, water, food and land-the basic needs of our life. JUNE 2021 ISSUE I Environmental pollution is increasing gradually and causing a serious impact on living organisms including humans. It can be reduced by microorganisms or plants that have biosynthetic pathways for the degradation or accumulation of environmental pollutants from soil and water. Lack of genetic components in natural microorganisms or plants lessens their ability to degrade or accumulate pollutants and hence is currently released at high rates. Through urbanization, industrialization, mining, and exploration are at the forefront of global environmental pollution. Both developed and developing nations share this burden together, though awareness and stricter laws in developed countries have contributed to a larger extent in protecting their environment. Environmental pollution is a significant environmental problem affecting organisms, and the responses of biomarkers can assess the consequences. Bio-monitoring is a crucial tool for insight into emerging environmental concerns. The usage of biomarkers at the field level and its integrated with the environmental conditions will help to assess environmental impact caused by pollution. Therefore, a significant amount and specific biomarker in the field condition help to demonstrate the stress. Jai Hind

WHISPERS OF CHANGE: ILLUMINATING AIR POLLUTION'S VEILED NARRATIVE BY RAJAT DEY, UMAKANTA ACADEMY. In the vast tapestry of existence, a silent force lingers, weaving its invisible threads through the fabric of our world. Air pollution, a clandestine enigma, obscures the purity of our atmosphere, a disheartening symphony of toxins. Yet, amidst the haze, a glimmer of hope emerges. Through scientific revelation and collective action, we unveil the path to redemption. With innovative strides in renewable energy and conscientious choices, we rewrite the narrative. Let us harmonize the discordant notes, transforming the symphony of polluted air into a vibrant ode to the planet. Together, we shall breathe life into a cleaner and revitalized tomorrow. Jai Hind SOUND POLLUTION BY JOYDEEP DEBBARMA, KV 09 KUNJABAN NO.1 JUNE 2021 ISSUE I It is considered as environmental pollution that is caused by access level of noise by many sources. Noise pollution is also known as the noise disturbance. Excessive noise is harmful to health and cause imbalance in human and animal life. It has been a massive environmental issue in India which needs proper attention. Outdoor noise caused by sources like machines, transportation systems, poor urban planning construction of side by side Industrial and residential buildings etc. Indore noise sources includes household machines, building activities, loud music etc. The most common impairment caused by the noise pollution is the permanent hearing loss due to ear drum damage. Jai Hind

THE URGENT NEED FOR ACTION: ADDRESSING ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES BY ANAND YADAV, NIT AGARTALA JUNE 2021 ISSUE I Introduction: Environmental challenges continue to be a major threat to our world, necessitating prompt attention and concerted action. The challenges we face are huge and far-reaching, ranging from climate change to biodiversity loss, pollution, and deforestation. It is critical that we all work together to protect our environment for future generations. Climate Change: Climate change, which is mostly caused by human activities such as the use of fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes, is at the forefront of environmental concerns. Rising temperatures, extreme weather events, melting ice caps, and sea-level rise are all repercussions of a warming world. Immediate action is required to minimise greenhouse gas emissions, shift to renewable energy sources, and implement sustainable practices. Biodiversity Loss: Many plant and animal species have become extinct as a result of human actions such as habitat destruction, pollution, overexploitation, and climate change. This biodiversity loss disturbs ecosystems, decreases resilience, and jeopardises critical services like pollination and water purification. Biodiversity conservation necessitates the preservation of natural habitats, sustainable land-use practices, and the promotion of conservation activities. Pollution: Pollution, in its different forms, endangers both human health and the environment. Pollution is caused by industrial operations, inappropriate waste management, and the usage of hazardous chemicals. Pollution reduction efforts include tougher legislation, the promotion of cleaner technologies, and raising 10 awareness about individual responsibilities for waste reduction and recycling. Deforestation: Forest destruction has serious effects for both local and global ecosystems. Deforestation, fueled by agricultural growth and urbanisation, not only contributes to climate change by emitting CO2, but it also disrupts habitats, harms biodiversity, and diminishes the planet's ability to absorb CO2. Forest conservation and reforestation efforts are critical for the preservation of our ecosystems. Conclusion: Environmental problems are linked and necessitate comprehensive solutions. To combat climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and deforestation, governments, organisations, communities, and individuals must work together. To maintain our environment, we must invest in renewable energy, encourage conservation, and implement good practices. We can ensure a more sustainable future for future generations by understanding the urgency and taking action. Thanking you

ENVIRONMENT BY MOUMITA MUNDA, ICFAI UNIVERSITY, TRIPURA The word \"environment\" literally refers to the area or circumstance in which a being 11 exists. Humans, animals, trees, ocean, rock and natural resources of earth and together create an environment. The only planet in the solar system where life and sustenance are JUNE 2021 ISSUE I feasible is earth thanks to its environment. Since the beginning of the time, the earth has given all of its inhabitants what they require to survive. In contrast, human have destroy the earth by using all of its resources for their own self serving purpose, leaving it to resemble a desolate waste land. To save animals and sustain various species, environmental preservation is necessary. Finding solutions to protect the environment from a additional harm should be a top priority given the alarming pace of climate change, which is a result of pollution and exploitation of the ecosystem. The only way to solve the problem is to restore the environment to its original condition. The world's leaders are working to slow down the environment's rapid deterioration, and groups like the United Nations come up with projects to raise awareness of the issue and motivate people to take action. The 2019 Sustainable Development Summit, 2019 Climate Action Summit, 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Paris Agreement, as well as numerous additional projects like river conservation, afforestation, coastal management, wetland protection, and so forth, are just a few of these activities. While all of these actions are being taken, people must also do their part to protect the environment, which is a part of everyone. We can be confident that with everyone's efforts, the environment will change for the better and become more sustainable. Jai Hind

GREENHOUSE GASES BY PRITI DAS, KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA NO.1 KUNJABAN Greenhouse gases or molecules are naturally present in the atmosphere of the Earth. However, they are also released due to human activities. These gases play a vital role in trapping the heat of the Sun and thereby gradually warming the temperature of Earth. The Earth is habitable for humans due to the equilibrium of the energy it receives and the energy that it reflects back to space. The trapping and emission of radiation by the greenhouse gases present in the 12 atmosphere is known as the Greenhouse effect. Without this process, Earth will either be very cold or very hot, which will make life impossible on Earth. The JUNE 2021 ISSUE I greenhouse effect Is a natural phenomenon. Due to wrong human activities such as clearing forests, burning fossil fuels, releasing industrial gas in the atmosphere, etc., the emission of greenhouse gases is increasing. Thus, this has, in turn, resulted in global warming. We can see the effects due to these like extreme droughts, floods, hurricanes, landslides, rise in sea levels, etc. Global warming is adversely affecting our biodiversity, ecosystem and the life of the people. Also, the Himalayan glaciers are melting due to this. Jai Hind

SOUND POLLUTION BY BIDHAN MOG, ISWAR CHANDRA VIDYASAGAR COLLEGE Sound pollution is a kind of pollution that is generated due to man-made activities 13 which creates an imbalance in human or animal life. The origin of Sound pollution can be due to industrialized or non-industrialized JUNE 2021 ISSUE I activities that badly affect the health of plants, animals, and human beings. Growing Sound pollution level is posing a great threat to the present and future generations on the earth. There are numerous causes of Sound pollution, so here we’ll be discussing some of them. Industrial and modern development is causing noise pollution to grow enormously. The Sound is usually caused by the heavy machinery being used in the large industrial units. Also, the increase in urbanization makes use of large machinery in the development of buildings leading to so much Sound pollution. Some other outdoor causes of Sound pollution include Sound from the traffic of vehicles and transportation. Railways also release loud sounds into the air through the use of locomotive engines, whistles and loud horns inside the railway stations. Other than railways, aeroplanes also cause Sound pollution when taking off. Some of the indoor causes of Sound pollution including the Sound from generators, plumbing activities, household equipment such as food processors and grinding machines, music systems, vacuum cleaners, coolers, fans, and many other appliances play a great role in causing Sound pollution. Also, the use of firecrackers at the time of festivals and marriages create so many nuisances in the air. So the need of an hour is to control all such activities and contribute to saving our planet. Sound pollution leads to many health problems such as hearing loss, mental illness, and insomnia. It is quite harmful to heart patients as it sometimes increases heart rate and leads to heart attack. It also causes distraction and affects productivity at the workplace. So it is essential to take steps in order to reduce the effects of Sound pollution. There are certain rules set by the government that we need to follow to deal with Sound pollution. Jai Hind

THE SMOG OF TIME BY ROHAN KUMAR JUNE 2021 ISSUE I SINGH, NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, AGARTALA The Smog of Time Dark clouds all around All I find is despair now; Heaviness curtails these lungs of mine My eyes have forgot their only shine; Into the mist I step forward My body repulses the incoming smoke; I take a step back to gain senses As I wipe my soot laden lenses; Far away blares a television Warning of another radiation poisoning; I continue on my way to the high grounds As my home the flood surrounds; I still remember a time long gone When birds adorned this black sky; A time where a mask wasn’t my dress A time when health wasn’t my only stress; All I could find in my hazy mind Where dumped regrets of what changed; A disaster which I think could be stopped 15 If only the chemicals weren’t dropped; The ground which once ran dry Is logged with water all over again; But this it isn’t like the one that gave life This time the water causes my body strife.
