Our Foundations MAKTAB ATHLONE The Muslim community in Athlone is considered to be one of the most diverse with a wide spectrum of people originating from Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Despite the large Muslim community in the city, educational facilities where Muslim children can benefit from good academic progress as well as develop as modern-day Muslims and Muslimahs are limited. With this concern in mind - in January 2018 - a group of Muslim professionals under the leadership of concerned Scholars set up MAKTAB Athlone. The aim of the MAKTAB was to set up and operate such educational institutes which catered for the spiritual as well as academic needs of children under the banners of Taleem and Tarbiyyah. ‫ﷺ‬The Prophet says:  “The scholars are the heirs of the Prophets and that the Prophets did not leave behind dinars and dirham (i.e., money), rather their inheritance was knowledge, so whoever acquires it has gained a great share.”  “Whoever follows a path in the pursuit of knowledge, Allah will make a path to Paradise easy for him.” [Bukhaari, Kitaab al-‘Ilm, 10]

Surely, MAKTAB ATHLONE opened its (new) front door initially to 10 students inYou alone are January 2018. Such was the transformation over the few weeks - from just athe All-knowing, material point of view - that passers-by stand, admire, encourage.All-wise.” From year 2017 January, MAKTAB ATHLONE was serving free Quran Classes with a motive “Education for All”, which now extended with a dedicated effort, which have introduced full elementary course of Islamic studies for children & open to all FAITH to understand the Islam easy way. Education‫التعليم‬ A DUTY UPON EVERY MUSLIM A successful and progressive individual is one who leads a harmonious lifestyle in accordance with the wishes and commandments of the creator. Islam encourages acquisition of knowledge so as to enable an individual to develop an understanding regarding the expectations from the creator. Verses of the Glorious Qur’an and statements of Prophet Muhammad ‫( ﷺ‬Ahãdeeth) are replete with virtues of striving for and acquiring knowledge. Indeed the acquisition of such an amount of knowledge whereby a believer may develop a basic understanding of responsibilities is compulsory according to the laws of Islam. Those dedicated individuals who are fortunate enough to devote significant parts of their life to the acquisition of knowledge are also granted much respect by the verses of the Qur’ãn and the statements of Prophet Muhammad ‫ﷺ‬. He ‫ﷺ‬ has declared, “Whomsoever Allah ‫ ﷻ‬decrees goodness for, is granted an in depth understa nding of Deeni matters.” [Tirmidhi] A person cannot truly practice upon the teachings of the Qur’ãn and Hadeeth, without first and foremost acquiring an in depth understanding of these sources of knowledge and associated sciences.

There is a strong emphasis on making firm, th e essential teachings of Islam and correcting the recitation of the Qur’ãn as w ell as developing the love required for studying the Quran. In this course, many aspects of religious and moral life - that every Muslim is required to know - are discussed in a caring and nurturing environment. To cater for the diverse needs of the community, MAKTAB ATHLONE is currently offering the following course for Boys & Girls: Ahsanul Qawaaid Quran-Nadhrah A guide for one who is not familiar w (Learning to recite the Quran by ith the Arabic text of the Quran looking in the Mus-haf) • First session - Learn how to spell • Nadhrah of 30th Juz with practical the letters with Makharij & Tajweed rules. Tajweed. (Using the Tajweed color- • Second Session - Learn to recite coded 30th Juz) fragments of words without spelling • Nadhrah from the 1st Juz using the 15 line Quran. (non color-coded)

Teaching TEACHING STYLE‫تعليم‬ There are two important aspects to imparting any kind of knowledge to others, i. e., motivation and methodology. Quranic verses, Ahadith, stories, examples and o ther tips are used to motivate the students. The message of the Quran along wit h its Arabic grammar are taught in an effective and innovative manner by power point slides and easy to use textbooks, workbooks, posters, games and vocabular y cards. Latest ideas on human interaction such as NLP are also employed in this approach.
