ABOUT DAYLIGHT aylight, in its literal sense, means the natural light of the day (Merriam Webster, n.d.). It symbolizes the genuine happiness brought after a pleasant experience, achievement, or event. Like a light that illuminates after a joyful moment, everything in this world will be new encounters. The Daylight Magazine is a zenith of experiences and a celebration of identity bounded in the grassroots and accounts of what made Charles Andrei D. Rosales the individual he is now and will be in the future. This issue aims to look forward to what lies ahead for the author and his journey for the next ten years of his life by simply jumping to the future.

JUNE 2021 DAYLIGHT A Step Forward It’s Worth the Wait A Fresh Start Endless Stress New Beginnings Adulting 101

ONE STEP Another chapter of my life will soon close as my high school journey is about to end. The six years of culminating new friendships and memories will always be remembered and treasured in my heart. Although it may seem bittersweet, it is one step forward in reaching my dreams and goals in the future.

To prepare for the future is to take opportunities and risks, especially in applying for colleges. It allows me to pursue the career path in life that I genuinely see myself in the years to come. College admission may take a long time, but once I receive that letter of acceptance from Veterinary Medicine in UPLB, it will mark the beginning of a new chapter, making the wait all worth it.

As I start a new chapter in my life, I need to be mentally, spiritually, and physically prepared, as being in college means being ready to take on challenges head-on. Undeniably, it also opens numerous doors of possibilities and opportunities to discover part of myself I have never seen before. My journey to UPLB will surely be not easy, but it will be fresh and exciting as I meet new people and new friends.

STRESS As a college student pursuing Veterinary medicine, stress, frustrations, and anxieties are endless and inevitable. It is probably one of the constant aspects of being a university student. However, to suppress such negative tension, I need to constantly depend on my family and friends to vent out and receive support, comfort, and motivation.

After all the hard work poured over for the last six years of veterinary medicine, graduation is the best reward a student could ever receive. It is the ceremony that validates significant accomplishments and recognizes successful completion. Getting that degree and diploma would make both me and my family fulfilled and pleased, signifying that hard work does pay off.

After graduation, I must face my young adult life with seriousness and maturity by standing on my own feet. I must learn to take responsibility for myself as a grown-up and discover ways to sustain my needs on my own. Finding true independence is challenging, but I must maneuver my way to be qualified to work and take charge of my own life.

I would like to give thanks to the following: To my family for their unwavering support and dedication in honing and providing for my needs; To all my friends for helping, motivating, and believing in me through my years of high school; To Ms. Shannen Jaurigue for the kind considerations and hard work in educating the class; To God for always guiding and illuminating me through everything that I have been through.
