The Importance of Having Godly Characters in Nursing

Nursing is an activity to provide nursing care to individuals, families, groups, or communities in both sick and healthy conditions (UU Keperawatan No. 38 of 2014).

Nursing care as well includes all aspects of human life, from the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of the patient

Nurses will meet many patients with different backgrounds. There are also patients who have different beliefs or cultures from nurses will carry certain items as their amulet

But, Christian nurses must have a caring attitude like Jesus Christ who lives wholeheartedly serving, helping others without distinguishing which ones should be served and which are not necessary. Colossians 3 : 23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters”

Serving or helping someone must be sincere, not because of coercion. As a Christian nurse, Jesus Christ is a concrete example that we can imitate

In nursing practice, there is a therapeutic relationship between nurse and patient. A therapeutic relationship is a trusting relationship between nurse and patient characterized by exchanging behaviours, feelings, thoughts and experiences between nurse and patient to build a therapeutic intimate relationship. Then there's therapeutic communication too. Here the nurse who cares for the patient must be able to try to hear and understand what the patient feels

Nurses need to ask God for wisdom in speaking and acting to patients. Because if we when doing treat to patient, or do intervention until implementating, we must do it based on Biblical truth, and God’s plans, not because of our strength and thoughts. Proverbs 16:16 “How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!”, ”

In the world of nursing. It's called palliative care. Here, the nurse provides care to the patient (who has an incurable disease) and his family by maximizing the patient's quality of life by reducing annoying symptoms, reducing pain by paying attention to the patient's psychological and spiritual aspects that are perceived according to the cultural context and value system including life goals, hopes, and intentions

The essence of nursing care is to help patients feel comfortable and feel better than their old condition. Mark 9 : 23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

Nursing care is When we doing nursing care, nursing action that we don’t need to look at the background of the patient, is carried out holistically in we don’t need to accordance with differentiate between race the Christian or what religion and where he or she came from, but in world view nursing care our job is to meet the needs of the patient based on biblical truth and provide comfort to the patient.
