Covid-19 is a contagious disease and comes from a new type of virus, namely the coronavirus group. Covid-19 is a serious disease that has hit the whole world, the spread of covid 19 can be through the sprinkling of the nose or mouth of an infected person (World Health Organization, 2020).
Covid-19 Pandemic leads all the schools to do online learning in order to stop the spread of the virus. Learning from home requires students to be active so that the teaching and learning process can run well, but in fact, there are many negative impacts that are felt from this online learning.
This book will discuss the negative impact of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic
First, online learning makes the students become more passive and not creative. online learning makes students less motivated because Google will direct students to find out the answers easily without having to think for themselves. The wrong use of Google by students can make students lazy so that they delay learning because they will easily get answers by accessing Google.
Moreover, the teacher or lecturer only provides a brief explanation by providing a video from Youtube which will be watched by independent students,and then asking students to do assignments without opening a discussion or question and answer session
Second, Online learning makes the student feeling more anxious or stressed.The changing education system from offline learning to online learning makes the students be shocked. The atmosphere of staying at home is totally different from their class. In their class, they can meet their friend, discuss the lesson together, and support each other. Meanwhile, they don’t get those positive vibes in their home. They just study alone, do not know what to do, and do not know whom to be asked.
Moreover, a lot of assignments with the rigid deadline that are given by the teacher will make the student more stressed because they do not get much explanation from the teacher that leads them to the difficulties in doing their assignments
Third, Online learning depends to the technology such as devices and internet data that suddenly can have any trouble and will impacts the online learning. Onlinе lеаrning is generally tесhnоlоgу dереndеnt. Technology can be utilized in long distance teaching and learning process. Online learning needs several support of device such as smartphone, laptop, computer that can access information anytime and anywhere (Gikas& Grant, 2013).
Many students prove that smartphone and laptop can be used for online classes using learning application Astuti & Febrian (2019) adds that online learning requires internet access that can help students to accessmaterial such as videos, module, and discussion forum with other students or teachers. During online learning students may have trouble with the signal or internet access, when it occurs they may have difficulties for collect their assignment or difficulties during the exams (Handarini&Wulandari, 2020). Therefore students need to provide devices and good internet access during online learning
In Conclusion Covid-19 Pandemic leads all the schools to do online learning in order to stop the spread of the virus. There are several negative impacts of online learning : Online learning makes the student feeling more anxious or stressed, Online learning makes the students become more passive and not creative, Online learning depends to the technology such as devices and internet data that suddenly can have any trouble and will impacts the online learning creative
