THE WCC CHRONICLES A MESSAGE FROM THE fEoICrm& AEeICr

Leadership is a choice, not a position. I am thankful to those people who supported and trusted me in my journey at the Chronicle but I, Wynona Lei O. Malicse, former Associate Editor in Chief of the WCC Chronicle had stepped down to give the role to the young ones who have amazing talents and skills proven that they deserve to be on the top this time. On the other hand, I had continued to serve as a Circulations Manager and News Writer that contributes to the official school publication to make the Chronicle shine brighter during this school year. The new Chronicle is the fresh start of the WCC Chronicles, with a new set of officers ready to bring stories to life. To my former SHSG Vice President, hosting partner, my friend and the current Associate Editor in Chief, Mr. John Michael Demapitan, I am already aware of your leadership skills, and you deserve this position more than anyone else. I hope that you will lead the WCC Chronicles together with our Editor-In-Chief, with love and respect to the group. The Chronicle is important to me, and it’s been a treasure that I have been holding for these past few years. It is a home that I can’t just let go. I hope that you, JM, will also hold strong on this position without shame and repentance. I hope that the future of the Chronicles will continue to prevail and deliver the news without bias. Let them use the strength of each member to constantly propagate the name “Chronicles”. I want the whole campus, WCC Aeronautical and Technological College – North Manila, to be aware that the Chronicles is not a by-stander organization. It is a group of journalists, multimedia artists, and editors, who only wants the best for the school. Mabuhay, Everyone! FORMER ASSOCIATE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF S.Y. 2020-2022 64

Dear WCC Chronicles Team, As the former editor-in-chief of the WCC Chronicles, I wanted to take a moment to extend my deepest appreciation for the remarkable job you have all done throughout this school year. The dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment of the team had truly made a difference within our school community. The WCC Chronicles has always been a vital platform for sharing stories, ideas, and perspectives, and the team have preserved that with immense grace and professionalism. The articles have informed, inspired, and challenged readers, fostering a sense of unity and intellectual growth. The quality of your work, both in terms of content and presentation, has been nothing short of exceptional. As I stand and observe away from the spotlight of the organization, I am filled with immense pride in witnessing the tremendous growth and accomplishments of each team member. From capturing the essence of school events to highlighting the various talents within our community, the team has consistently demonstrated their commitment to the organization's goals. To the current Editor-in-Chief, Mitchie Ayessa D. Ferrer. I want to commend you for your exceptional leadership skills. Your vision, organizational acumen, and ability to lead the team have been instrumental in the success of the WCC Chronicles. Your unwavering dedication and tireless efforts have made this year a resounding success, and there is no time for you to keep doubting yourself, you should be immensely proud of what you have achieved. As the baton passes from one generation to the next, I would also like to address a few words to the future generations of the WCC Chronicles. You are the torchbearers of our cherished tradition, and I urge you to approach your roles with passion, curiosity, and a commitment to truth. Journalism, now more than ever, plays a crucial role in shaping the world, and your voices matter. Embrace the responsibility that comes with this privilege, and remember that every article, every interview, and every word has the potential to make a profound impact on individuals and the community as a whole. In the face of adversity, maintain your unwavering commitment to integrity, accuracy, and fairness. Seek out stories that often go untold, challenge prevailing narratives, and give a voice to the marginalized. Embrace diversity in all its forms, and let it be reflected in the stories you choose to share. Once again, my heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to the entire team. Your dedication and outstanding contributions have made this school year one to remember. May the WCC Chronicles continue to capture stories as they create new memories to tell and cherish. THE FUTURE OF THE WCC CHRONICLES LLLAAANNNDDDIIINNNGGG 2022-2023

FINeAditLor-iMn-EchSiefSAGE Greetings! During the time when we were electing for the new Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editor-in-Chief, as the Circulations Manager at that moment, never have I thought of eyeing for a higher position as I do not believe in my capabilities in leading a student organization. I remember back then when I was nominated together with my co- member for Editor-in-Chief and I guess being elected was part of God’s way of telling me that it was time to go out of my comfort zone, explore my capabilities, and start believing in myself before I graduate and set myself on the realities of the world. When I got elected, I had prepared myself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for all responsibilities and duties my position has. As a 3rd year BS Aeronautical Engineering student, I could say that it was challenging for me to balance my organization and academics but I am grateful for all the love and support I have received that helped me make it throughout my term. I started with doubting myself and my capabilities. However, every time my adviser, school administrators, professors, and co-students have shared good comments about how Chronicles is showing an exemplary work as student journalists, it warms my heart as I believe that I was able to lead them right. But life is not perfect. Honestly, there have been times when we weren’t able to do our best – when I, was not able to do my best. Mistakes happen and we always learn from it. I always learn from it. 67

This year was not easy for me as I am responsible for the future of Chronicles. My leadership will be the reason how the school community will think and see of our organization and I believe that in this one journey, I have done my best to navigate myself, my members, and Chronicles through all challenges our positions possess. This academic year has been a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences for me as a student leader. Our magazine's symbol, Phoenix, is our representation of our rising organization. As Chronicles continue to rise, we will strive to become a stronger team – defending truth and an epitome of integrity and accountability. Chronicles. Our organization would not be this alive if it wasn’t because of your hard work, patience, and passion on becoming a student journalist. Thank you for trusting my capabilities to lead you and for all your efforts that have made Chronicles our second home. JM Demapitan. My ever-supportive Associate Editor-in-Chief. Thank you for always having my back and for al the help and support you have given the moment we got elected. I'll be forever grateful. On behalf of The WCC Chronicles, I would like to thank each and everyone who have given their all-out trust and support for our organization – the school administrators, students, professors, staff, and God during the Academic Year 2022 - 2023. Non Desistas. Non Exieris 68

THE FUTURE OF THE CHRONICLES 69

As The WCC Chronicles faces a new academic year, we aim to deliver our work better by preparing ourselves for all school events. Members of Chronicles will be undergoing activities and/or seminars that will hone our skills on journalism - both written and photography. The executive board have been listening to all suggestions and comments our co-students give and we use them to improve ourselves as defenders of truth. With new set of editorial board for Academic Year 2023 - 2024, The WCC Chronicles is preparing for fresher and more developed ideas in delivering news, documenting school-events, and promote good journalism not only among our members but also to the whole school community. As the Phoenix rises, Chronicles will soar to become the better version of itself. 70
