SAP Note      1734333 - BW Pre and Post Upgrade and Migration TasksVersion   21     Validity: 01/19/2015 - active   Language   English (Master)Header DataReleased On 01/19/2015 13:20:42Release Status Released for CustomerComponent BW-WHM-TC Technical ConfigurationPriority Correction with medium priorityCategory Installation informationSymptomThis note automates several of the BW tasks required for system upgrades and migration.Other Termsupgrade, task listReason and PrerequisitesThis note contains the necessary coding required for the task list creation. These task lists can beused to facilitate a BW system Upgrade, Migration. This note requires that all pre-requisites for the BW-related system copy automation are metaccording to note 1707321. It serves as a supplement to note 1707321 and should you choose toinstall note 1707321, it will also install this note 1734333. If you choose to skip the installationof the task manager content notes, then you will not be able to use the following two tasks: \"StopRDA Daemons and Process Chains\" and \"Restart RDA Daemons and Process Chains\". However, if you are onSAP BW 7.30, you can use report \"RS_SYSTEM_SHUTDOWN\" instead of the tasks and run the report at thetime point in which the tasks would normally execute. Otherwise, if you are SAP BW 7.0X, you willneed to perform these actions manually.IMPORTANT: If a system is on the following support packs then CAREFULLY read note 1589145 andperform ALL necessary tasks (ie: using the Post Copy Automoation Installer).ATTENTION:, if you are on a support pack above the ones mentioned, you do not need to implement note1589145.SAP Netweaver BW 7.00: SP16 - SP26SAP Netweaver BW 7.01: SP00 - SP09SAP Netweaver BW 7.02: SP00 - SP08SAP Netweaver BW 7.11: SP00 - SP07SAP Netweaver BW 7.30: SP01 - SP03SAP Netweaver BW 7.31: SP01SAP Netweaver BW 7.40: SP01SolutionIt is important to note, that the utilization of the task lists is only meaningful, if you plan ondoing an Upgrade without Migration to SAP HANA or a Migration to SAP HANA without an Upgrade. Ifhowever you are planning to perform an upgrade along with a DB migration to SAP HANA, do not usethis task list. Instead, the tool of choice should be the Database Migration Option in SoftwareUpdate Manager, which is now generally available and already includes these tasks. More detailsavailable here and in note 1813548Upon successful implementation of this note's manual activities and pre-requisites, four task listswill be created: SAP_BW_BEFORE UPGRADE, SAP_BW_AFTER UPGRADE, SAP_BW_BEFORE MIGRATION, SAP_BW_AFTERMIGRATION. Each task listed in a task list is further described by the documentation available inthe task list manager (Tx. STC01). Please be aware that these tasks lists are intended to alleviatesome of the manual tasks requried by users. They do not fully replace the execution of ALL tasksrequired during the different phases of an Upgrade or Migration. As such they should be used inconjuction with avaible upgrade guides.Specifically, the pre update tasklist, SAP_BW_BEFORE UPGRADE should be executed at the sametimepoint (activity in the upgrade) as when the ASU toolbox prompts the user to action from withinSoftware Update Manager (see note 1000009 for more details). In fact, the complete execution ofthe SAP_BW_BEFORE UPGRADE task list is split into two; initial execution and manual confirmation. When the task list is initially triggred, all tasks listed prior to the 'Confirm all end users arecurrently locked' task are executed. The remaining tasks require that no further end-user action

take place on the system and must therefore be completed when the'user lock' phase of the upgrade isreached. As such, the administrator must return the the SAP_BW_BEFORE UPGRADE task list run andmanually confirm the 'Confirm all end users are currently locked' task so that the remaining taskslisted in the SAP_BW_BEFORE UPGRADE task list can run to completion. The post update tasklist, SAP_BW_AFTER UPGRADE  should be executed at the same timepoint (activityin the upgrade) as when the ASU toolbox prompts the user to action from within Software UpdateManager following the uprade. See note 1000009 for more details. The pre migration task, SAP_BW_BEFORE MIGRATION, should be executed at the begining of yourmigration timetable; that is, prior to the export. The post migration tasklist, SAP_BW_AFTER MIGRATION, should be executed at the same time point asone would execute the report RS_BW_POST_MIGRATION and can be used to replace the use of this reportall together. All task lists should be executed as Background jobs via the task list manager (Tx. STC01) whenpossible. l SAP NetWeaver BW 7.00 Import Support Package 32 for SAP NetWeaver BW 7.00 (SAPKW70032) into your BW system.
