Abstract: A summary or brief description of the content ofanother longer work. An abstract is often provided along with thecitation to a work.Annotation: A note that describes, explains or evaluates;especially such a note added to an entry in a bibliography, readinglist or catalogue.Article: A brief work on a topic. Often published as part of ajournal, magazine or newspaper.Author: The person(s) or organisation(s) that wrote or complied adocument.Bibliography/Reference: A list containing citations to theresources used in writing a research paper or other document.Call Number: A group of letters and/or numbers that identifiesa specific item in a library and provides a way for organisinglibrary items.

Database: A collection of information stored in an electronicformat that can be searched. Information is normally on a specificsubject.eBook: Electronic book that can be downloaded to computer ormobile device to read later.Full Text: A complete copy of a resources, usually an articleviewed on a computer screen.eReserve: Electronic access to unit readingsJournal/Periodical: A publication, issued on a regular basiswhich contains scholarly research published as articles, papers,research reports or technical reports.Journal Title: The name of a journal

Keyword: A significant word or term in a title, abstract or text ofan information source that indicates its subject and is often used asa search term.Newspaper: A publication containing information about variedtopics that are pertinent to general information.PDF: A file format that allows files to be transmitted from onecomputer to another without being changed.Peer Reviewed Journal: Peer review is a process by whicheditors have experts in a subject field review books or articlessubmitted for publication by expert peers. Peer reviewed helps toensure the quality of an information sources by publishing onlyworks proven validity, methodology and quality. Peer reviewedjournals are also called refereed or scholarly.
