TRUST FOR THE NATIONAL MALL 2015 ANNUAL REPORTLandmarkMusic Festival For the first time ever, the Trust for the National Mall staged a music festival to generate funds and awareness about the need to restore, protect and improve the National Mall and enhance the visitor experience.The festival, held in September 2015, was a tremendous success,attracting a diverse audience of more than 50,000 attendees overtwo days. The festival took place across five stages and featuredmore than 40 artists, including Drake and The Strokes.The Trust worked with best-in-class music promotion companyC3 Presents, an organization that manages popular music festivalsaround the world, including Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits.C3 Presents did a first-rate job planning, implementing andpromoting the festival and making it a fun, memorable event forall involved. Renowned chef José Andrés curated the world-classfood court at the Landmark Music Festival.The Landmark Music Festival was about more than just greatmusic and food. It served as an engaging platform to educate a newgeneration of Americans about the values, ideals and history of ourNational Mall. Additionally, it spotlighted the need for more fundsto support the Trust’s mission to restore, improve and preserve thepark for future generations. 12

In this high-tech era, it’s also important to maximize our online presence, so the Trust launched a new, interactive, grassroots website, LandmarkCampaign.org, as part of our promotional efforts around the festival. Not only could site visitors learn more about the upcoming music festival, but they could also build“virtual monuments” while learning more about the history and the needs of the real monuments on the National Mall. 15
TRUST FOR THE NATIONAL MALL 2015 ANNUAL REPORTConstitution Gardens The Trust for the National Mall has been working collaboratively with the National Park Service on the Rehabilitation of Constitution GardensThe Trust for the National Mall has been workingcollaboratively with the National Park Service on theRehabilitation of Constitution Gardens, which willbe implemented in two phases. This year, we focusedon phase one: The Rehabilitation of the HistoricLockkeeper’s House, the oldest remaining structureon the National Mall. The goal of the project is toestablish a visual presence, provide exhibit space andspotlight donor recognition.The reconstruction will include a new stone seatwall, the relocation and rehabilitation of theLockkeeper’s House, a new entry plaza, as well asinterior and exterior exhibit space and storytellingdevices. Landscape improvements will includemore than 150 flowering understory trees, 15 canopytrees and thousands of native grasses and perennials.As a result, the Trust is not only restoring theLockkeeper’s House but making the 38-acre areamore beautiful for all visitors to enjoy.The restored, revitalized Constitution Gardenswill honor our cultural heritage, while celebratingthe environment and natural resources around us. 16

These volunteers which was comprised of 447 individuals and 156worked a total of 17,983 hours this year, for a value organiz ations. Of these, 338 donor s wer e ne wof $697,201 (a 43% increase from FY ’14). this year (293 individuals and 45 organiz ations). Donations came in from 36 states + dc. The 2015 average (non-board) gift was $1,689.92.
