Life Imitates Art by Hayley Bennett My photography explores ideas of art history, using the comparative visual signs, conventions and codes of art history. The work connects the themes of contemporary everyday life and frames them within an art historical genre. Subjects are derived from social, cultural or political situa- tions such as the COVID epidemic using family as subjects. These works often take the form of a tableau or staged im- ages using digital methods. Materials and personal effects are used as props to connect to the contemporary everyday. Currently, my work is intended to document and reflect on the effects of the Coronavirus epidemic on our emotional wellbeing and that of our communities as well as the older generation who feel alone and absent.
