CAMBRIDGE CHRONICLE September 2021
From the Desk of Principal Dear Parents, ‘’ The key to a successful Hybrid learning is going to be the same as any other year: relationships and flexibility!’’ -Amber Chandler One of the hallmarks of our school is the strength of our students. It has been wonderful to welcome our students back to school and enjoy face to face learning. As we slowly move to reintroduce the aspects of school life, it is time to turn our attention to this aspect. Happy to inform that CPS has taken a step forward to continue with smooth learning of Grade-10 and Grade-11 following the insistence of the parents and the students for physical classes and for a better coaching for the upcoming First Semester Board Exam. Hence, we have started Hybrid classes for Grade 10 and Grade-11 where the students attend the classes in person at school for two days and virtually attend the classes for the next two days. Children are divided into two batches maintaining the protocols of distancing, mandatory wearing mask and usage of sanitizer continuously to keep oneself free from the attack of Covid-19. In sum, students love the Hybrid classes for their perfect blend of traditional classroom and online learning. Today’s students need the flexibility of online learning and crave the connection of face-to-face instructions from their mentors. Therefore, we have decided to satisfy their wish. Heartfelt gratitude to all the parents for their never-ending support during this pandemic and to all my lovely students for following the protocols. Warm regards, God’s Blessings to all of us! Ms. Judith Singh Principal
Teacher Talk One day a farmer’s donkey fell into a dry well. The donkey cried for hours as the farmer tried to find a way out to help him. Finally, the farmer decided not to save the donkey as it was old. He and his neighbors together decided to cover the well with dirt. At first, the donkey cried horribly but later quieted down. After a while, the farmer looked down into the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that fell on the donkey’s back, he shaked it off and took a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off into the beautiful sunset. MORAL OF THE STORY: Life is going to shovel all kinds of dirt on you. You need to shake it off, take a step up and never give up. “Winners never quit, and quitters never win.” “Never give up, your victory is right along the corner.” Twinkle Vohra Class Teacher - III C
Student’s Corner My School ‘CPS’ School is the place where we learn. It is the place where we make friends and have lots of fun. I feel school life is one of the best times of our childhood. The covid-19 has resulted in online schooling. All schools across the world have shut. As a result, education has changed dramatically, whereby teaching has been taken on virtual mode on digital platforms. We are enjoying this new way of learning. Online classes are indeed the best alternative medium of learning in the present situation. Our teachers are working very hard to make these classes very colourful and interesting. Truly, we miss our school, friends and teachers. Online classes are certainly not a substitute for real classroom teaching. But, on a positive note, this gives an opportunity to spend time with our family. And finally I want to thank my teachers, coordinator and our dear Principal. Just like everyone I too enjoy and feel proud of my school. Mas. Adarsh Grade IV E
Student’s Corner BIRTHDAYS Birthdays are a very special day for everyone who celebrates it. Firstly, it makes the person feel loved when their close ones do special feelings in the world. Secondly, it makes the person mature. We all wait for our birthday every day as we get older and gain a sense of maturity every year. Our birthday makes the occasion for the very same thing. Moreover, it helps you gain special privileges as well. After all, birthdays are also an eye-opener for many as they fell gratitude. When you see many people going out of their way to make you feel special, you feel gratitude for being blessed with so many things. Miss. Vinisha Grade IV D
Student’s Corner HAPPINESS Happiness is a feeling of pleasure and positivity. When someone feels good, proud, excited or satisfied, that person is termed as “Happy”. Happiness is also known as “Love or “Joy”. Feeling happy helps people to get relaxed or to smile. Happiness can also be inspired ,thought or felt. Happiness was thought as the key to love in ancient civilization. Mas. Gatik Jha Grade IV D
Parent Talk Rightly said \"Invention is the mother of necessity \"and this fact has been exemplified by many changes that have occurred during Covid - 19 pandemic. One of the most affected has been schools and accordingly scores of students across nations. While at one hand, safety of students was important on the other the academic continuity had to be regarded specifically for students who were in their critical years - 10th and 12th . This triggered the switch from the conventional method of teaching to online. School, teachers ,students were unprepared - with no training, insufficient bandwidth etc. Nevertheless, they rose to the situation. I really appreciate CPS school - each and every person involved in this transition. Teachers , not conversant with computers were faced with the dauntless job of scheduling classes, creating digital content, posting notes & assignments, conducting exams and they eventually became a PRO - all because they had the ultimate goal of imparting education to the students in any situation. CPS made available the best possible platform - TEAMS and helped both student and parents to understand the nuances of the platform. Online education came in shades of grey . With more screen time and lack of social interaction which has adversely affected some students , it majorly came as a welcome change from strict schedules , long-distance commutes and them becoming well versed with the digital world . It was more challenging for teachers. Body language and eye contact, which are important cues for the teacher, was difficult to perceive in an online classes. With smaller kids, concentration span is small wherein teachers had to put in extra efforts to make the classes more interactive. As a parent, in this Covid, we have been in their shoes and have developed increased respect for all their hard work. Hats off to all the educators who have exhibited the real essence of being a \"TEACHER\" . They have shown children whatever be the life situation , there is always a door open motivating them in this unfavourable circumstance . We are sure our kids will always have the contribution of CPS and its teachers etched in their heart forever. Thanks & Regards, Soya Joseph - Parent of Johaan Paul (III D)
Teaching Children Good Sportsmanship Parents and kids alike love sports, and it's easy to get caught up in a game and become focused on winning. Yet there is much more to be gained from the sports experience than a winning record. When children and teens are involved in sports, they are able to learn and put into practice values that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Good sportsmanship is one of the life lessons that children can learn from sports. You can help your children understand and value good sportsmanship while making sure they have a safe and fun sports experience. Good sportsmanship may seem hard to define, but its hallmarks include being able to win without gloating, respecting one's opponents, and being able to lose gracefully. Here are some important principles to instill in your children: *If you lose, don't make up excuses. *If you win, don't rub it in. *Learn from mistakes and get back in the game. *Always do your best. *If someone else makes a mistake, remain encouraging and avoid criticizing. Show respect for yourself, your team, and the officials of the game. Parents are important role models, so let your children see you upholding these principles, whether you play a sport yourself or root for your child's team from the sidelines.

TEACHERS’ DAY ‘Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, caliber and future of an individual. If the people remember me as a good teacher, that will be the biggest honour for me.’ ~ A P J Abdul Kalam. Teachers’ day is a special day for teachers as well as students. Everyone looks forward for some celebrations at school. We celebrate it with a lot of happiness and enthusiasm. Students are very happy to express their love and affection towards the teachers by wishing them, making greeting cards and writing few beautiful things for them. Teachers feel so happy and rewarding with their unconditional love and innocent words.
Mid Term Examinations Exams improve the students’ overall personality, memory and their revision skills. Exams are a great way to assess what the students have learned with regards to particular subjects. At Cambridge, we started the preparations for Mid Term Exam well in advance. We finish our portions one month in advance. A revision planner is sent to the students updating them about the worksheets and revision to be done during the class hours. Mid Term Exams are conducted through Microsoft Forms. Students are assessed with both objective and subjective questions.
