Teacher’s Talk
Parent’s viewpoint on Online Classes We all know that schools play an important role in the development of a child. It not only helps in building knowledge but also in the social, emotional, and mental aspects of a child. For more than a year now, the deadly COVID 19 has been demanding new ways of thinking and acting in every field including education. Digital technology has changed the ways of teaching and learning too. My experience with CPS as a new parent of Karthik Bhat,5C who got admitted last year to CPS is shared here. CPS has quickly adapted to the demanding situation of the much-needed CHANGE and introduced online classes with the next-generation tool chain and methodology. This involved not only quickly introducing it but also structurally making teachers, students, parents familiar with its usage by having many orientation sessions and quick support for challenges faced. The immense effort taken by each teacher to upskill and reskill themselves to this methodology of teaching is commendable. The online classes happen judiciously with a schedule- students meticulously start with prayers, wish each other, and see each other and then concentrate on studies. To cope up with the paradigm shift and instill enthusiasm and energy in students, the school introduced various activities, co-curricular activities, festive day celebrations, writing scrap-book articles, assignments, competitions and gave an opportunity to each child to demonstrate his/her unique skill. The school is doing every effort to not compromise on any of the goals of quality education. Thanks to the management, teachers, staff for their huge efforts and kudos to the children for having shown acceptance and adapting to this new way with a ray of hope to meet again someday physically in school.(to meet & greet teachers and friends, to chat and play physically in school) Let us all wish that this pandemic ends soon, and we all return to our normal life soon. Stay safe, stay healthy! Thanks to CPS once again! Mrs. Preethi R Bhat
My Teacher Student’s Corner
Students’ Elections Cambridge Public School is a prestigious institution which is a pioneer in imparting knowledge to each and every student in a holistic manner. We at Cambridge believe that a true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions and the compassion to listen to the needs of others. The role of each student senator is to represent the school’s student body. Student senators should be dedicated individuals who are passionate in creating and maintaining a safe inclusive and equitable environment for all the students within the school. Being the members of Student Senate, the students get an opportunity to develop leadership qualities by organising and carrying out school activities and service projects. Senate Election was conducted in Grade 5. Student senators were elected by the school’s student body according to the potential and leadership qualities they possessed. Elected student senators in Cambridge do have the ability and the right to drive changes and implement the suggestions given by the school’s student body . Elected Senators are at their free will to express their ideas, interest and concerns.
International Asteroids are nature’s way of asking, “How's that space program going?” Asteroid Day International Asteroid Day is observed globally on 30th June. The children showcased their talents which helped them in developing critical thinking, decision making, planning and designing. They learnt the importance of environment and its resources. Doctor’s Day ‘‘The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.’’ – Thomas Edison. When the world is struggling to survive the pandemic, there is no better time to remember the contributions by the doctors. Doctor’s Day is celebrated to honour and felicitate the dedication, commitment and selfless service of doctors towards the ailing people. Doctors are the real heroes fighting at the forefront to save millions of lives around the globe in the present pandemic situation. Doctors helping hands and caring hearts are a boon to the patients. The Middle School in Cambridge celebrated ‘Doctor’s Day’ to pay tribute to all medical practitioners as this year also is special for their ethical and relentless service to the humanity. The celebration was to emphasize on the value of doctors in our lives and to express our gratitude towards them. Teachers explained to the students about the importance of health and hygiene and the role played by the doctors in our society. Many activities were conducted, and children were shown videos which gave them an insight into the lives of doctors and how it revolves around relief and saving lives all around them. A special thanks from the Middle School to Dr. Seema Agrawal and Dr. Harshitha who visited the classes virtually on this auspicious Doctor’s Day celebrated by the students and shared a video on the current circumstances and what can be done as a community to stay safe and well. Children actively participated in the virtual celebration and thanked all the medical practitioners who are working tirelessly for the humanity.

Unit Tests and its importance! Unit tests are conducted in the school to evaluate the summative assessment of teaching-learning process. This a process of measuring student’s achievement. At the school level, educators conduct tests to measure their students' understanding of specific content or the effective application of critical thinking skills. Such tests are used to evaluate students learning skill and academic achievements at the end of an instructional period, such as the end of a unit or a course. Unit Tests are great motivators for our students. In Cambridge, educators of all the subjects test the students after each concept taught in class. This is to measure how much of the assigned materials students are mastering, how well students are learning the materials and how well students are meeting the stated goals and objectives. Educators in Cambridge provide the students with clear targets for progress and enable the students to map a path to success.
BAKRID Eid ul-Adha is the religious name of Bakrid ,which means the ’Festival of Sacrifice.’ This is one of the most important festivals in the Muslim calendar. Muslims commemorate Bakrid to mark Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his own son as an act of obedience and devotion towards God. This day honour’s Prophet Ibrahim's sacrifice of his son in submission to Allah’s command. However, God intervened during the Prophet’s act of sacrifice and a lamp was sacrificed instead of his son. In commemoration of this intervention, animals are sacrificed ritually. One third of their meat is consumed by the family offering the sacrifice while the rest is distributed to the poor and the needy. Muslims worldwide celebrate this festival by sacrificing a male goat as a symbol of the same sacrifice that Ibrahim had gone through. This ‘Festival of Sacrifice’ is acknowledged by the Muslims, and they celebrate Eid ul-Adha annually.
KARGIL DIWAS: 'Kargil Vijay Diwas' is celebrated to rekindle the pride and valour of the soldiers who took part in Operation Vijay. D.E.A.R T IME Reading is an exercise to the mind which enhances the child’s imagination and thinking skills. It is one of the habits which helps them improve their concentration. It also helps the children to change their perspective and be open-minded by accepting the world, things, people, their beliefs, their culture, their values, the way they are. The magic of reading together is D.E.A.R TIME- ‘Drop Everything and Read.’ During the reading hour students drop everything and dive into the ocean of books and experience the euphoria of the joy of reading. The programme aims at nourishing the habit and love for reading. D.E.A..R TIME has benefitted everyone in widening the vistas of knowledge, vocabulary and written expression. The D.E.A.R TIME was conducted virtually across Grades V, VI and VII. The students were very enthusiastic as each one of them enjoyed reading the book of their choice which included picture books, chapter books with a huge variety of genres, non-fictional and fictional stories, magazines and also newspapers. The students were happy and excited about the D.E.A.R. Time programme where they sat with their teachers and read together. It was really an elated moment for the teacher and the librarians to see the students, reading books of their choice very quietly and sharing what they have read. We strongly believe that helping a child to develop love for reading is very important and essential. If a child develops love for reading at a very young age, it will remain a life-long habit and helps children get hooked on books as they associate reading with pleasure.
