PROLOGUE Beep! If you’ve seen this from a post online and decided to click, then congratulations! You’re now invited to the enchanted world of 4D Fairy. If anything, the “4D Fairy effect” is a self- coined term that is defined being “enchanted” and genuinely showing support for one of Team NIV’s finest members. Take note that while this is an “unofficial” take on her persona, the author firmly believes that this short book may serve a positive outlook why MNL48 Alyssa deserved to supported by the majority of the fandom populace.

Frankly, the author might not be hopeful in delivering the core message, but he hopes to the heavens that this short book may be a steppingstone for new and old fans alike to get more curious and supportive of none other than 4D Fairy. REASON ONE She's a power dancer, a muse to graceful moves I mean, it’s no brainer that one of the most famous videos of the 4D Fairy herself is the well known “Gingham Check” dance performance fancam, where she shows how energetic her performance is, truly one who might be new to watching it will never cease to at least smile at how gracefully the performance is executed. But beyond that famed video, she’s a power dancer to almost any imaginable modern dance trends nowadays. Just take a look at her TikTok account, where she shares snippets of dance moves to the tune of AKB48 songs and surprisingly, even to known KPOP songs, such as from the group Apink! and NCT 127. One of the prime assets of being an idol is capacity to perform lively to gain audience traction. And yes, I’m a 100% believer that Alyssa’s numerous exhibits of dances is a testament as to how very idol-like her persona is--and make no mistake, a prime asset to being a center.

REASON TWO Blessed with a calming voice, a muse of lyrics and melodies When I started out looking into her SNS traction, one of her famed song covers is “Rhapsodi”, sung originally by JKT48. While some would take note that some song covers might be just plain simple, I’m always a sucker for simplified song covers. No manicured madness or anything, just a manifestation of a real performance. To date, another excellent song cover is her “Again”. And upon listening, you can imagine being a daydreamer at 3 in the afternoon, coffee in your hand, staring into the cloudy orange sky, and thinking bittersweet memories of nostalgia. For me, her calming voice is like a harbinger of nostalgia. You know what it feels like when you listen to a particular song, and as soon you reach a few seconds, your mind transports you to a “sappy” moment in the past? Well…for me, that’s what her voice conveys. I’m pretty sure lullabies and mellow melodies are a perfect fit for her.

REASON THREE She will shower you with her custom messages, a muse for messages If anything, MNL48 Alyssa has always retained one of the most known catchphrases in her SNS posts. <<beep! you’ve got a message from the 4D fairy!>> For me, this catchphrase is what makes her SNS interaction very witty and unique. And while the rest the content is random at its best i.e. a random “how-are you”, a new upload later, or perhaps an announcement, I view her SNS posts at a different light. In a world where we are indulged in notifications and SNS updates, most of them feel manufactured, as if a machine created them. But with her own updates, while yes it’s likened to a mailing list and feels parasocial, sometimes parasocial messages like this provide a temporary escape of the toxicity of the online world, and provide us even a bit of comfort. It feels like receiving a promotional email, but it doesn’t feel promotional, but rather gives you a bit of warmth and a bit of hope for outlook in your life.

REASON FOUR A trigger force to push the inner musing soul in you One of the prime things that got me rooting for her is her interest in asking the public, which in turn is a prime time for witty and insightful answers. Her segment “Questions of The Night” is a simple recurring segment in her Instagram stories, where she asks her fans to answer simple questions such as “when’s the last time you felt nostalgic?” and “where do you find inspiration to create something?” And again, these simple questions are like a “trigger force” for someone, as what happened on my end. For me, her questions were like trigger for the hidden musing soul in you. Her questions are like those of a distant friend, and as while you may haven’t met her yet, the warmness and genuineness is there. It’s like a warm cup of brewed green tea, soothing and warming you. I’m always a firm believer of quiet happiness and appreciating even the mundane aspects of life. I always believe that simple words and actions are enough for a person to be at least warmed by the pure innocence and compassion from other people, even when miles away. Make no mistake, people might always enjoy the complex side of things, but for a thing as simple as the Fairy’s question, perhaps it teaches us to have a simple outlook in life, indulge in the beauty of musings, and live with inner peace through musings that we have answered.

REASON FIVE Pure aesthetics, a muse of beauty People seem always have a thing for aesthetics. Our world ever since time antiquity, has been always an avid observant of the arts. Not only in art through various media, but art itself is inspired by the physical manifestation of human beings, the utter beauty, its raw form undeterred. While some fans are initially enamoured with aesthetics of the members, the 4D Fairy itself fares to other muses of aesthetics. Her selfies or should I say…portraits, are a testament as to how good her taste is in enchancing the muse in. One picture may imagine an analog aesthetics of getting lost in the fields in Montana, or perhaps one picture may inspire a neon aesthetic, perfect in-blend with synthwave or nu-wave music. Yes, aesthetics galore is what may have reeled us in, but always hopeful that 4D Fairy herself fares to others in the beauty limelight.

REASON SIX Generally a happy pill, a muse of happiness Aside from her standard 4D Fairy persona i.e. unique opening greetings and random texts of care, she generally maintains a positive persona amidst the opposing tides of today. Her SNS interaction, albeit not being regular due to personal reasons (or simply caught in provincial nostalgia), is a melting pot of humorous, motivating and interactive ways to bring happiness not only to her fans, but potentially to fish other fans. From humorous TikTok videos, to challenges and to even dance crazes (I swear that ‘Chika dance’ looks so cute), it’s a variety of her own ways to portray the positive soul in her. With the chaos we are experiencing at the moment, we oftentimes struggle with keeping ourselves happy at all times. We often feel anxious and stressed with what’s happening nowadays, and people like Alyssa are like rays of sunshine to light up our hopeless emotions. Quiet happiness means being amused by the simplest of things in life. And I’m very sure she’s the embodiment of the philosophy that I had held on for life.

REASON SEVEN A believer of genuine support; a muse of courage I’ve watched recently the evolution of her signature “4D Fairy” greetings per group era, and it’s fun to see the growth of an idol, even from the perspective of a simple greeting. But there was one thing that didn’t change in her that I still love: and it was her courage. In the mad race we are caught in, people are vying for a position that will take them higher or getting the spotlight of the majority. But for Fairy, she only wants the genuine support for her in regards to her idol career. In various instance, she has always mentioned that she doesn’t wish for a much higher position, but rather merely stay in the group to bring joy to her fans. And for me, it isn’t just sign of contentment, it’s a sign of courage. Being brave doesn’t necessarily mean defying all odds, but rather gripping harder amidst the current. And for me, Fairy, embodies a brave soul, that regardless of her status, she shall continue her journey: forward and onward.

EPILOGUE Let’s be honest: it’s short isn’t it? To be honest, I want to regain my faith in the fandom to look over those who might have lost the spotlight they once deserved. I mean…it couldn’t be help, but I hope this small project will help them lead their eyes to 4D Fairy. For old fans, or should I say fellow Fairies: do not fret. We may represent a small populace, but I’m hopeful that you’ve always retained your high spirits up and continue in supporting her. For new fans, I hope this served as a primer for you to know a bit about 4D Fairy. As the meme goes: “It ain’t much, but it’s honest work”. And for Fairy…who always had helped me trigger my creative soul: thank you. Your simplicity, talents and aesthetics revived is what revived the dead creative soul in me.
