‘A Livella di Totò 51 Sinossi Italia, 2016, 15’ Commedia Per celebrare la metafora tra la vita e la morte, Nello Mascia ha deciso di allestire un cortometrag- gio sulla famosa poesia di Totò ‘A livella con Francesco Paolantoni, le musiche di Ciccio Merolla e Regia/Direction prodotto da Run Film. Strumento usato dai muratori per metter sullo stesso piano le superfici, la Nello Mascia livella, in questa poesia, diventa un emblema dell’appianamento: ricchezza e povertà, diversità sociali, gioia e dolore. L’autore prende spunto dalla ricorrenza del 2 novembre, e l’uso di comme- Musiche/ Soundtrack morare i defunti per affrontare con stile ironico il tema della morte. Comincia con la riflessione di Ciccio Merolla come alcune lapidi fossero diverse tra loro a secondo che il defunto fosse ricco o povero e, distrat- to, rimane rinchiuso nel cimitero e assiste al dialogo di due anime: un marchese e un netturbino. Interpreti/Cast Il primo arrabbiato per la vicinanza della lapide del secondo che, inizialmente mortificato, dopo Francesco Paolantoni poco prende coraggio e zittisce il marchese ricordandogli che la “morte è una livella” che elimina Produzione/Production ogni disparità sociale portando tutto nell’oblio. E nel concludere, il netturbino dice“Sti pagliacciate ‘e fanno sulo ‘e vive! Nuje simmo serie, appartenimmo ‘a morte”. Cioè solo i vivi sono così sciocchi Run Film da attaccarsi al rango e alle convenzioni sociali, non ricordando che prima o poi tutti siamo desti- Lingua Originale/Language nati a morire. Francesco Paolantoni è impegnato nell’interpretare tutti e tre i ruoli del poemetto e firma una straordinaria testimonianza di attore poliedrico e sensibile. Italiano Synopsis To celebrate the metaphor between life and death, Nello Mascia decided to set up a short film about the famous poem of Totò ‘A livella with Francesco Paolantoni, the music of Ciccio Merolla and produced by Run Film. The tool used by the bricklayers to put on the same plane the surfaces, the level, in this poem, becomes an emblem of apprehension: wealth and poverty, social diversity, joy and pain. The author ta- kes the lead from the recurrence of November 2, and the use of commemorating the deceased to tackle ironically the theme of death. It begins with the reflection of how some tombstones were different ac- cording to whether the deceased was rich or poor and, distracted, remained locked in the cemetery and assisted the dialogue of two souls: a marquis and a cotton bud. The first angry about the proximity of the tombstone of the second, which, initially mortified, soon took courage and silenced the Marquis, reminding him that “death is a level” that eliminates all social inequality by bringing everything into oblivion.
