So you want to be a dictator? ★ Being a dictator means putting your country first. Obeying to their needs. Treating your people with equality and respect. Realizing that you’re the only one in control and not abusing your title or power. Modern example of a dictator: Historic example of a dictator: Kim Jong-un is the supreme leader of North Korea. Benito Mussolini was the prime minister of 2011-present. Italy from 1922-1943.
RISE TO POWER: ★ What does it mean to manipulate laws, the government, and political parties? Well, Historic example of this: Adolf Hitler Hitler gathered his army manipulating important things like those is and killed over 11 million basically cheating. NO political parties (because normally the dictator wants himself people for being jewish, to be the ONLY ONE in control.) Tips+Tricks to get your power: ★ Propaganda-Propaganda is biased information that is promoted throughout a country to get an emotional response from the citizens. It helps dictators rise to power by giving attention to things that they want to be supported. Like war, in which, people give money to support them. Keeping your power: ★ How did they brainwash people? In school, they made teachers talk about how their country’s leader is the expectation. They made the children think that the dictator was the hero and they should strive to be just like him. The teachers brainwashed the children. This helps the dictator basically control their minds from a young age. The dictator has endless support from his people as long as his people stay clueless. Historic example- His situation is very similar to Kim Jong Un’s. It’s just Adolf Hitler that he brainwashed the children into being Nazi soldiers. The children thought it would please him. Modern example- Kim Jong Un When kids were in school, he had posters of himself everywhere. which had kids thinking that he was the ideal person to be. As the children grew up, that idea grew with them.
What does it mean to Repress Opposition? ★ To repress opposition basically means to push out a Historic example-Adolf hitler specific group of people, And to restrict their abilities to do anything. Sometimes, they kill off that group of people, Or they imprison them-restricting them from everything. This helps dictators keep their power because if they kill off Hitler hated jews. That’s who he the people that are the problem then they won’t chose to push out. He treated them have anyone bad mouthing the dictator/creating like they weren’t human. Like they conflict. deserved nothing. He did this because he thought jews only cared about Modern example- Kim Jong-un wealth. He didn’t like that. So, he eliminated them. Kim Jong-un pushed out other countries (like America) in fear of his people learning something that he doesn’t want them to know. That’s why no one can enter or leave North Korea.
How do they justify imprisoning and torturing their enemies? ❖ Well, they see it as “getting rid” of the problem that was holding their country back. They also use it against their citizens to show them that if they did something wrong and made enemies with the dictator, then that’s what they would get. It helped them keep their power by scaring other citizens into obeying laws. Modern example- Mohammed Bin Salman Historic example- Benito Mussolini He has had Mussolini used castor oil to torture his multiple enemies. The castor oil would give the supervised victim extreme stomach pains and explosive tortures. One diarrhea. of them was a female news reporter.
What were military and police force used for? Their responsibility were to keep the citizens in check. They would spy on people just to make sure that they would put them in check. They keep an eye out for the dictator, make sure that there are no threats, protect the dictator and his country, and they make sure that there is no one that can take his power. How does the media help dictators keep their power? ★ Well, they use censoring. They hide all the things that they don’t want shown on the media. Unwanted information was kept. Anything the dictator wanted to keep private/not tell his citizens was censored. That’s how it help him keep his power. NO historic example because the internet/media wasn’t a thing until 1983. Modern example- Kim Jong-Un ALL media in North Korea is controlled by their government. No news from anywhere else. He didn’t want his people exposed to things he may have hid. North Korea is a VERY private country.
