2015 By the numbers...18,600 4,000+children in Arizona’s foster children served by AFFCF,care system a 50% increase over 2014Meanwhile... “If any children can benefit from extracurricular activities, it is foster youth. Extracurricular activities address three areas of concern for foster youth, namely academic achievement, behavioral problems and identity development...” National Center for Youth Law

Keys to Success... Based on research, as well as informational interviews conducted with a wide variety of service providers in Maricopa County, AFFCF identified youth transitioning out of the foster care system as a population that continued to need additional support to achieve self-sufficiency. The Keys to Success program increases opportunities for youth by providing them intensive, individualized career exploration and planning, as well as educational and employment development services.165 Piloted in 2014 and fully Outcomes to date implemented in 2015, (December 2015) for the AFFCF Keys to Success youth in the program program provided services are promising: to 165 youth in 2015.98% 97% 33%Number of Number of youth Number of youthparticipating youth achieving one retained after onecompleting career or more goals year of service andexploration and of their individual continuing to makeplanning services service plan within six progress toward a long-within 90 days months of enrollment term career goalof intake100% Youth achieving one or more ISP goals within a year of enrollment
