Thedressings are fitted with tiny sensors which can pick upblood clotting, or spot infections, and wirelessly senddata back to a clinician.Swansea University, which is hoping to trial the ban-dages within 12 months, said the new technology couldoffer a personalised approach to medicine.The smart bandage would connect to the patient’ssmartphone, which can also keep track of other healthconcerns, such as inactivity or diet, that could bepreventing healing.
