DUNES INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Volume 4, Issue 1 ACADEMIC SESSION 2019-2020 01– 05 September 2019 SNEAK PEEK Glimpse of this week Opening day:- After refreshing summer break, Dunes International school reopened on Ist of September. The campus accorded a rousing reception to the budding learners, by bedecking the whole campus with appeal- ing art and quotes and presenting a welcoming assembly. Principal Mr. Paramjeet Ahluwalia and Head primary Mrs Manjeet Ahluwalia in their address to students provided reassurance of an interesting and exciting session which brings about challenges and op- portunities and reminded everyone to be focused on enhancing creative and intellectual potential. Reminder: • Student Enhancement programme will start on Sunday. Kindly refer the circular for more details. • Prepare well for the upcoming literary fest. • Students should come every day in proper school uniform. • Encourage your ward to use handkerchief in school . • Registration for admission for academic year 2020-2021 is open now refer school website for the same. 1

Special Assembly—Teachers Day Teachers' Day is dedicated to our teachers, mentors and gurus who guide us to be learned students and better human be- ings. Every year, Teacher's Day is celebrated on September 5, the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan . Students of higher grades presented a wonderful assembly on Teachers Day. 2

Welcome back As you begin your school adventure, re- member that change can be hard, but it can create something beautiful . Adventurous activities were planned for the students as they come back to school. Students learnt differ- ent skills through these activities. 3

Teachers Day Activity Students of grade 1 made beautiful cards on ‘Teachers Day ‘. They decorated the cards with colourful stick- ers . Art and craft help children develop fine motor skills. 4

Subject: Science Students learnt the concept of different types of animals around us such as small ani- mals, big animals, insects, birds through various activity. They were able to classify them into birds, insects, and land and water animals based on its features. 6

Subject: Math Once kids have a grasp of the beginning concepts of combining sets and telling stories about joining groups of objects we can begin in- troducing addition sentenc- es and gently exposing them to math facts. This is not something they will master in preschool or kindergar- ten. Instead it is a gradual progression from under- standing the concept of ad- dition toward quickly being able to recall math facts that will be used to later solve more complex math problem. Using hands-on activitieslike this flower pet- al addition activity we can give kids concrete opportu- nities to model and make sense of early addition con- cepts and help them begin to recognize math facts. 7

Subject : English Role play activity Students partici- pated in pairs . They were given different topics to enact on . Role plays en- hance communi- cation skills. It enhance their team work and collaboration competencies. 8

Subject: Music Students learn the lyrics and melody of the school song and practice to sing 10

Subject: Hindi Learning letter [ L ] Students drew pictures of objects starting with letter [ L ] . Through this activity they learnt proper use of this letter . This activity helped them to develop reading and writing skills. 11

Subject: Islamic Education Topic: Allah, The All- Beneficent Objective: Able to realize that Allah Sunhan Wa Ta’aala is the Most Merci- ful towards His creations. “The Almighty is more Merciful than a mother is to her child. So no matter what mistakes you’ve made, re- turn to Him with regret and repent” Mufti Menk The students of grade 1 en- thusiastically participated in the activity done in the class. They made a card containing the most beauti- ful name of Allah “Ar- Rahman” in Arabic and in English 12
