Onam is an annual Harvest festi- val in the state of Kerala in India. It falls on the 22nd Nakshatra Thiruvonam in the Malayalam calendar month of Chingam, which in Gregorian calendar overlaps with August–September. According to legends, the festival is celebrated to commemorate King Mahabali, whose spirit is said to visit Kerala at the time of Onam. The festival lasts for ten days and is celebrated with a great splendor. In Dunes ,we celebrated this festival by making flower carpets. Students enjoyed the visit of our little Mahabali to their classes. The importance of celebrating Onam was depicted in the assembly conducted by our grade 2 students. 15
