REDUCED RATES GENERAL INFO The City of Lafayette provides a program for eligible participants that reduces fees for youth by 50% for activities sponsored by the Recreation Department* and reduces the daily admission fee by 50%. The reduced rate program is available to all Lafayette Residents meeting one of the following guidelines: • TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES (TANF) • SUPPLEMENTAL SOCIAL SECURITY INCOME (S.S. I. OR S.S.D.) • W.I.C. CLASS CONFIRMATION Please provide your email address on the registration form and review your receipt carefully. Contact the Recreation Center immediately if there is a problem. REGISTRATION INFORMATION ► The Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel or combine any class due to insufficient participants. If a class is canceled, you will be notified before the first class and receive a full refund, credit, or class transfer. ► Late fees: Any youth sports registration not received by the registration deadline will be assessed a $10 late fee. Payment will be taken (check or credit card) for youth league waitlist registrations but will not be processed until the child is placed on a team. CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY We strive for positive experiences and excellence in everything we do. If you cancel from a class, you must request the cancellation seven days before the start of the class to receive a 75% refund. Day Camp deposits and Preschool/B.A.S.E. registration fees are nonrefundable. ► Class transfers are subject to a $5.00 transfer fee. ► All cancellations initiated by the participant must be approved by the program supervisor and will be assessed a 25% cancellation fee. ► NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS willbegivenforcancellationsinitiatedbyorfortheparticipantmadelessthanseven days before the start of class. Refunds will be issued in the form of a check or credit card (depending on the payment method ) or a household credit balance. SPECIAL EVENTS SPECIAL EVENTS Please note: *Only service dogs are allowed for City events AUGUST COMMUNITY POLICE ACADEMY Wednesdays, Aug. 24-Nov. 16, 6:30-9:30pm The Community Police Academy (CPA) provides the public 15 and older with an inside look at law enforcement. The academy will explain and demonstrate many of the department's policies, divisions, and functions and provide an increased understanding of the tasks police officers face in their daily work. Topics covered include crime scene investigation, high-risk vehicle stops, traffic enforcement, DUI investigation, SWAT, police communications center, hiring process and training, arrest control, and much more. The CPA meets once a week for 13 weeks, and each block provides participants with first-hand information from officers and includes hands-on and interactive opportunities. If you have ever wondered why police do what they do to keep you safe, apply to attend the 2022 fall academy! Applications and background checks are required. Celebrate Day of the Dead/ Día de los Muertos at the Lafayette Public Library with music and activities to honor and celebrate our deceased loved ones. The Lafayette Public Library invites the community to create an art piece (drawing, diorama, etc.) or an altar to honor the memory of a family, friend, pet, or person of historical significance. NOVEMBER LAFAYETTE POLICE SANTA COP PROGRAM SPECIAL EVENTS TOY COLLECTION DRIVE The Santa Cop Program coordinates gift donations for our community's families who are in need. Help support this program, which relies mainly on donations, by donating new toys (appropriate for 2-15 years of age) or making a monetary contribution. Donations are accepted year-round at the police department, and additional toy collection sites can be found around town in November. The Police Department, municipal court, and City Hall accept monetary donations (cash, check, or credit card). You can find more information at lafayetteco.gov/Police. A certain someone has hidden candy canes outside the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center and City Park fields. Grab your flashlight and search for candy canes but be on the lookout for hidden elves. If you find an elf, bring it to the check-in table to receive a prize. Warm up inside the recreation center with hot chocolate and cookies/pictures with Santa Claus.
