The DC's JewelEva Lawless, Age 11 Lisnafunchin NS

June Nicole is a normal 11 year old girl. Everyone calls her JNfor short though. She has long dark brown hair and browneyes. She is funny and also a bit of a dare devil. Sheconcentrates on the things that she thinks are important anddoesn't bother with the things that she thinks aren't. She liveswith her granny, mum and dad.She loves listening to her granny's interesting stories. Sheoften tells the same story over and over again but JNpretends that she has never heard it before because herstories are so interesting. Most of Granny’s stories would beabout when she herself was a child and what her own parentswere like. She says her mother was quite firm and if she saidsomething, that would be that, but still she was kind andloving. Her father was serious and strict and was very busy.She says that his favourite thing in the world was his job andhe was always rushing off to go to a meeting. However shesays that her father died quite young and when he died shewas very very sad.JN also enjoys English, cooking and acting. Just a normal,basic 11 year old girl.

For the last few nights JN has been hearing weird noisescoming from her bed. She's just after finding an odd sheet ofpaper from under her bed. ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇There were so many questions swimming around in her head.Why did it say House of Mercury at the top of the letter? Whois the DC? What is the SMS? What is the task? Why wasn't hergreat grandfather able to complete the task? How did thenote get under her bed? 


A few days later...It was now Monday morning and JN was walking to school.She was worried about what might happen tomorrow, inthe woods. Suddenly a hand grabbed her. She was pulledthrough a hedge and into a field. She screamed. She couldjust make out a long, dark, black cloak. She was pinnedonto a tree. She had a feeling she knew who was wearingthe cloak and she was very scared. She could make out along, very pale, white face with no eyes and a very, verysmall nose. The face was horrible! Instead of eyes therewas just black holes. She could also see that the face waslong and bony and the skin on the face looked very whiteand pale and almost dead looking. JN could also see thatunderneath the cloak there was a boy around her age. Theperson who dragged JN through the hedge had her/hisarms around the boys neck.\"You're the DC, aren't you?\" asked JN.\"Yes\", she said calmly, like she pulled people throughhedges and put her arms around people's necks everyday.\"Why on earth did you just pull me through that hedge?!\"JN shouted, \"And why on earth do you have your armsaround that boy’s neck?! \"Well the reason that I pulled youthrough the hedge was because..,\" suddenly her voicewent very low and dark and cold. JN shuddered, \" You'vebeen chosen by the Secret Magic Society to steal my jewelso I will lose all power and have a different life

somewhere else where I will not be able to remember myold life. If you try to steal my jewel you will be part of myarmy and will fight against the SMS for numbers of years.Your silly great-grandfather worked for the Secret MagicSociety and he was always in meetings trying to protecthis family from harm and take me down. One day he triedto take my jewel and he refused to be part of my army so Ijust killed him\" explained the DC.JN was shocked. Her great-grandfather wasn't serious andstrict. He was always rushing off to meetings becauseactually he really loved his family and wanted to protectthem. He was a good man and he died because he wasstanding up for what was right. The boy under the DC'sarm looked shocked. \"The reason that I have Zack undermy arm is because he was also chosen to steal my jeweland he annoys me.\" JN couldn't believe her eyes. The DCjust killed her great-grandfather for the sake of killing himand the DC just couldn't care less.\"How could you be so cruel?!\" shouted JN and she kickedthe DC in her stomach. Just then the DC's jewel fell on theground. The DC quickly went to pick it up but JN wasquicker. The jewel was emerald green. JN had the jewel,but what was she supposed to do with it now that she hadit?\"Stare at it as hard as you can!\" shouted Zack, \"then forceyour left hand towards it!\" He was just brushing down hisjeans and then he came running over to help her. Hestared at the jewel too and then raised his left hand. JN

did the same thing. It must have been working becausethe DC was still on her feet and she was struggling towalk over to them. Zack and JN were forcing their armstowards the jewel. It was very, very, very hard thoughbecause the jewel was trying to push their arms back.They put all their strength into it and the jewel wasturning greyer and greyer. Finally the jewel wascompletely grey. The DC vanished into thin air.JN and Zack took a few deep breaths. Zack lookeddelighted. JN had so many questions for him. But beforeshe could start, an old man with a very big smile and avery long beard appeared. He wasn't really there though, itsort of looked like he was on a tv screen.\"Hello June Nicole and Zack! My name is Sonny. I am fromthe Secret Magic Society also known as the 'SMS'. Youhave defeated the Dark Circle also known as the 'DC'. Wehave been trying to defeat the DC for over 100 years. Youhave finally defeated her. Nobody your age has ever donesomething as big as this before, in the whole history ofthe Secret Magic Society. Zack, you have moved up fromHouse of Venus to House of Saturn. June Nicole you havemoved from house of Mercury to House of Saturn too. JN,House of Mercury is the house you have been in for thelast couple of days. Both of you, meet me at that tree inexactly 20 minutes.\" he said and then he vanished.

Jack looked like he might faint he was so happy. He ranaround the field screaming like a teenage girl whosephone is always pinging with snapchat messages.“OMG! OMG! OMG! I'm in Saturn! OMG! OMG!
