Quick Fact: SWAT by the Numbers (2018): 16 Average Amount of Hours SWAT Trains each Month in Addition to Outside/Advanced Training Received 5 Activations 2 Search Warrants 1 Armed/Barricaded/Suicidal Gunman 2 Directed Actions Each December, SWAT concludes training for the year with a week- long/40-hour training circuit encompassing all aspects of the Team’s training throughout the year on topics such as Firearm & Weapon Qualifications, Vehicle Apprehensions, High-Risk Search Warrants, Active Shooter Training, Dignitary Protection, & Tactical Rural Tracking Utilizing K-9 Teams. TPD SWAT Members maintain memberships with the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), & the Florida SWAT Association (FSA), while SWAT Snipers are also members of the American Sniper Association (ASA). These organizations provide our Team with advanced training on topics including Team Leader Development, SWAT Command Decision Making & Leadership, Armored Vehicle Rescue Operations, Tactical Medical, Hostage Rescue, & Sniper Certification Courses. 51
