ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE & SUSTAINABIITY First and foremost we would like to extend our gratitude to The Ministry of Agriculture 2019-2020 and Land Reclamation (MARL), where it took project initiation lead and coordinated with the relevant authorities in the implementation of the provisions of protocol cooperation (Go Green; Plant A Tree) represented by H.E. MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE & LAND RECLAMATION COMMUNITY SERVICE PROTOCOL OF AGREEMENT & COOPERATION ECONOMIC & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT 2019-2023 PROJECT SCOPE OF WORK Among the most important achievements of the RC of El Tahrir’s Environment Committee for the Rotary Year 2019- 2020, is to hold a cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation under the title \"Plant a Tree; Make Your Country Beautiful” 9/18/2019,\" which included cooperation with three relevant ministries, namely • the Ministry of Environment, • the Ministry of Local Development and • the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources, which included the implementation of the protocol in six governorates over the next 3 years. As a first stage, projects were implemented in • Giza, • Cairo, PROTOCOL DURATION 3 • Beni Suief, YEARS BETWEEN • Luxor, 2019-2023 • Qalyubia, and • Damietta. The geographical scope for work was chosen according to the Ministry of Environment's 2020 plan according to several criteria discussed by ministry experts, where the Environmental Committee conducted a field visit at the specified sites and it was confirmed that those sites were indeed compliant to the criteria. The cooperation protocol received unprecedented media coverage including most of the official television stations and magazines, which had a better impact in raising community awareness about community participation in collaboration with Rotary Clubs in general. MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE & LAND RECLAMATION COMMUNITY SERVICE PROTOCOL OF AGREEMENT & COOPERATION ECONOMIC & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT 2019-2020 PROJECT OBJECTIVES 1. Participate in afforestation activities 2. Aim to improving air quality, by contributing to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions caused by traffic overload 3. Contribute to energy consumption reduction 4. Contribute to enhanced water management solutions through the utilization of treated water in irrigation. 5. Spread awareness through vocational training of the labor force working on the ground. PROJECT GOALS 1. Encourage public contribution to afforestation in their community 2. Preserve the planted trees. 3. Decrease potable water waste in irrigation 4. Promote the utilization of employing networks of treated water.

MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE & LAND RECLAMATION COMMUNITY SERVICE PROTOCOL OF AGREEMENT & COOPERATION ECONOMIC & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT 2019-2020 STAKEHOLDER OBLIGATAIONS - The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation The MALR has committed to coordination and collaborate with the Ministry of Environment (EEAA) and the Ministry of Local Development, its representative in the six governorates and their assisting bodies, as well as guiding the RC of El Tahrir’s Environment Committee towards the targeted areas most in need. Further, the MOALR will act as the facilitator for our missions towards success project completion. The MOALR provide a statement of the prices of plants available in the Ministry’s nurseries which the RC of El Tahrir will pay for and will see to the procurement of the remaining plant needs through donors and stakeholders within the communities of reach. Specialized media engagement will help in project promotion and update, through the Egyptian Agricultural Channel affiliated with the Ministry by broadcasting a specialized media article to preserve the environment as an integral part of sustainable agricultural development; preservation of natural resources and obtain pesticide-free food using organic agriculture and food. Engaging women across the rural zone is a vital awareness key point, based on renewable energy, as well as the development of rural women's knowledge on clean air to cultivate a healthy environment and encourage them to integrate community participation and raise the level of performance in the agricultural work technically and marketing.

EGP 280’000; allocated to the museum’s open-air botanical learning center. VOCATIONAL TRAINING COMMUNITY SERVICE 2019-2020 ECONOMIC & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ALTERNATIVE ENERGY WORKSHOP 2019-2020 PROJECT COMPLETION – PHASE I – VOCATIONAL TRAINING - ROTARY YEAR 2019-2020 ALTERNATIVE ENERGY NOVEMBER 2019 – JANUARY 2020 In cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and the Faculty of Agriculture, in the implementation of a workshop that included planting surfaces, using biogas gas as a renewable alternative energy source in lieu of traditional energy means, the RC of El Tahrir in collaboration with its RCC BINT MISR AL ZIRAAYA arranged for the loan of the following equipment for training purposes: • 2 biogas gas units • 3 solar energy units, (output per unit 2kw) • one model of surface cultivation • the Rotaract of El Tahrir held their RYLA in Siwa Oasis to help promote the spread of awareness and awareness towards cultural preservation of the heritage of ancient monuments as well as the conservation of natural reserves • A workshop was held on energy production using biofuel to encourage industries based on date palm waste.

GOVERNORATE OF QALUBIYA COMMUNITY SERVICE 2019-2020 ECONOMIC & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ALTERNATIVE ENERGY WORKSHOPS 2019-2020 JANUARY – FEBRUARY 2020 LOCATION: EL QALUBIYA GOVERNORATE The RC of El Tahrir in collaboration with its RCC BINT MISR AL ZIRAAYA in cooperation with the Faculty of Agriculture, Banha University conducted an intensive training course for the agricultural professions, field training in the methodology of education, work, and community participation in order to preserve the environment, where 10 trainers were distributed to 5 training headquarters equipped to train 100 engineers and technicians for a period of 4 days, at the rate of 6 hours per day totaling 120 volunteer training hours for 100 engineers. OCTOBER 2019 – APRIL 2020 The RC of El Tahrir in collaboration with its RCC BINT MISR AL ZIRAAYA cooperated with the Faculty of Agriculture, Banha University and the Ministry of Water Resources & Irrigation in applying an innovative model to reduce water consumption where a saving package was used that depends on three axes where reliance on treated wastewater, which provides consumption of potable water, for irrigation of public parks where trees are supplied Ornamental with water through a modern subsurface irrigation network (watering system with irrigation) and this system saves 50% of the consumed water as it provides the amount of water needed for plant roots only so it prevents water evaporation from the soil surface. Water with grains The nutrients are adsorbed by 300 times, which prevents the loss of water by leaking through the soil layers, and the dew trap was used, which compensates for the loss caused by the transpiration process by the plant as an application.
