BIOLOGICAL SELF Physical Self Our physical self It is a crucial aspect of our self. My body had gone through immense change and have been shaped by biological and environmental factors throughout my lifetime changing my understanding of my own self. As I grow older, I’ve gone through various periods of changes and learned how different factors impacts our physical selves. And that we possessed distinct features and how it affects our physical attributes, characteristics and my perspectives in life. I became insecure and very conscious of my body image because of the standards of society, on how I should look to be considered as pretty and how I should act as a decent girl. It brought down my self esteem for years contemplating on things that I now realized that are not that important. But now, I have learned to love my body and be confident no matter what people say. And as you can see a lot have changed in my physical appearance but my features, I’ve Sexual Self inherited from my parents still remain. The sexual self is a crucial aspect of our development, but sadly this topic is not openly discussed by everyone leading to misinformation and considered as taboo. I’ve gained an understanding about the sexual identity and gender orientation, and its difference which I am confused before as I don’t have knowledge about it and not really get it. It is quite interesting how this topic elaborates the concepts associated with the sexual self, and various factors contributing to one’s sexual development and behavior. I’ve discovered and began to figure out my sexuality when I was in junior high, it is quite confusing and very difficult to deal with it back then as I struggle on how to deal with it. As I became aware of my attraction and experience relationships with both genders, I still feel confused about it since sexuality is so complicated. However, I’ve learned to accept what I am while still currently coming to terms with it.
S O C I Social Self A This topic taught me how social and environmental factors shape oneself, L along with environmental systems, cultural orientations, and other social factors that play a crucial role in one’s self. My family and friends are a S significant part of this. I am a bit shy of a person when it comes to talking to strangers and meeting acquaintances, however, I can become quite loud when I am comfortable with my companions or the people, I’m surrounded with such as family and friends that I’ve made throughout my life. And these are my friends who were there for me and accepted me for who I am. They were the ones who makes me happy and confident with myself. We often go out together and have fun whenever we are available. Social Digital Self This topic encompasses the crucial role of E the usage of the internet contributes on forming an individual’s social self. Our personality in person compared to our L personality online can sometimes be different as we try to change ourselves to be able to fit in with the norm. People tend to F act differently from their actual selves and create a different identity that they display through the internet. I can relate to this, as I was swayed by my friends on social media pages, behaviors that I can now honestly say that is bad and toxic. But now, I am not that much active on social media as before, as I try to be private and also avoid it since I realized how it can be so toxic and harmful for my mental state because of senseless arguments online. However, I still enjoy using the internet occasionally for entertainment and catching up with friends which bring me so much joy.
MENTAL SELF COGNITION, MEMORY, AND INTELLIGENCE This section discussed how human beings learn, and how learning abilities develop one’s being. It tackles the mechanism of human memory and the different types of human intelligence. My learning from this topic gave me knowledge on different levels of memory, meaning of intelligence and the cognition. I can say that I exceled at my class in primary and junior high, but ever since I started college, I discovered that Im not that special and be empty minded most of the times. I struggled to catch up and since I am a very much conscious of my grades, I felt that I wasn’t doing very well in school that made me lose interest and motivation in studying. But still, I try to do my best in everything so I can excel when the time comes and to achieve my goals. HUMAN LEARNING Overview of human learning, the various factors that contribute to the learning process, and how it shapes the individual self. I’ve come to understand human learning and various theories which explain how it occurs. Learning can happen in a variety of situations and has no extent. Ever since I was a child I am interested in and learned drawing by myself such as different characters that appears on the television. Technology was not available back then and we can’t really afford it so I spend most of my time being creative with the support of my parents that provided me with everything that I needed. However, as I grew older, my interest in drawing gradually fades since I lost my confidence when I was chosen to join a contest and lost. As for now, I started to continue to rediscover my skill and plans to improve it by learning so much more in college as I strive on becoming a successful architect someday in the future.
EMOTIONAL SELF HUMAN EMOTIONS AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE This topic delves into the understanding of one’s emotional self through the lens of emotional intelligence theories. I’ve understood that managing and understanding human emotions is important, and that emotional intelligence includes one’s capacity to regulate emotions and be emotionally aware which can be helpful on one’s emotional and intellectual growth. Since most of the time emotions can be difficult to express and understand so it can be a bit complicated at times for us to comprehend it. Acknowledging the presence of emotions, as it plays a big part in making decisions and relating to others as well. It can be easily recognized but can be very difficult to define. For me, I still struggle reading other’s emotions that makes me overthink most of the time. I am an observant person, so I tend to notice people’s emotions and try my best to understand and relate into it when needed. EMOTIONAL REGULATION It is the practical applications of emotional intelligence to one’s daily life. I learned how emotion can be learned to regulate, individual’s emotional expression and regulation. As we experience development throughout adolescence. Emotional regulation is an attempt to influence emotion and is applied at times when interacting with self and with others. As for me, I tend to overreact and rarely regulate my emotions. I am a person that can be easily annoyed at times but I am currently working on trying to express and manage my emotions in a healthy way.
INNER SOUL S P It discusses the nature of spirituality, and various factors I shape one’s spirituality and its impacts on oneself. It is a R significant factor in controlling our emotions as this help us I to attain our inner peace and take a break from our T problems. This topic can be commonly indicated as being U religious or believing on another greater being above us. I A came from a catholic and religious family, and studied at a L catholic school. When I was young, we always used to go to church and attend a mass every Sunday. And even back S then, I can feel that it isn’t what I want. as for now, I am not E that religiously active anymore ever since I’ve come to my L realizations and discover that those who are religious can F be the worst person that throw so much hate to a person. However, I still believe in God while not being traditionally religious.
CONNECTION WITH NATURE It discusses the natural connection people have with nature. Affinity with nature, the ties that bind people and nature together. Whenever I hear nature, I always think of forests and mountains. I reminisce my vacations back then at the province with my family and miss how peaceful and calm living in there back then. The environment in there is much more pleasant to the eyes and far greener compared to the city we live in. I felt that being in there have given me comfort and had a connection with nature back then as I breathe in the fresh air. I guess being connected with nature truly gives us peace and helps in finding the inner peace within us. DISCOVERING LIFE’S MEANING It showcases the concepts of well-being and life satisfaction crucial to one’s life. What they mean to an individual, the factors that contribute to them and their consequences to daily living. Throughout my experiences and learnings in my life, I discovered that true contentment and happiness is being with people who truly makes me happy and have been there when I needed them. I’ve realized that the simple act of being kind to one another can cause significant change in one’s life. I can honestly say that I am satisfied with my life as long as I am with the people I love and care about.
