INTRODUCTION The SAMSUNG GROUP or as known as A SAMSUNG is a South Korean multinational manufacturing conglomerate headquartered in Samsung Town,Seoul,South Korea. Samsung brand is the largest South Korean business conglomerate.As of 2020, Samsung has the 8th highest global brand value in the world.Samsung was founded by Lee Byung Chul in 1938 as a trading company.Over the next three decades , the group diversified into areas including food processing , textiles, insurance, security and retail. Samsung entered the electronics industry in the late 1960s and the construction and shipbuilding industries in the mid 1970s, these areas would drives its subsequent growth. Business Operation 1.1 Company’s type of departmentalization and its advantages Departmentalization in management is the process of grouping activity by dividing an organization into different departments. This way allow the employees to run tasks according to their own department and working together to achieve their specific goals. Each department also will be managed or monitored by skilled workers or experts in the field of work in the department. In this case, the company of Samsung Electronics use the Product departmentalization in management of organizational structure. As the Samsung electronics company may have multiple products, this type of departmentalization is suitable for them. Product departmentalization is the grouping of activities around the products or product groups and all common activities required to produce and market a product are grouped together. Samsung also has a product-type divisional organizational structure. Other than that, Samsung electronics do use the Geographical departmentalization where the grouping of jobs are according to geographic location or territory. Samsung electronics is a company that brings Samsung brand to the world with its products that specializing in telecommunication, electronics gadgets and also digital medias. Moreover, they has more than 200 subsidiaries around the world such as sales subsidiaries, production and distribution subsidiaries and so on. 2

Decision can be made faster as group of people because group decision can provide more details and complete information than one individual itself. Other than that, this type of departmentalization allow specialization in producing products or services. During the Movement Control Order (MCO) the government has issued guidelines in business operation that must be followed by all business sector. Business by the Samsung brand has no exception where the company adheres with all new rules and regulation. Some of the changes that have taken place are, business operations cannot be conducted face-to- face where the business centre has to be temporarily closed. Therefore, all employees are required to work from home. This matter give a huge impact on decision making as it involve all business processes from decision in producing products, market the products and also method of product purchased by customers. The huge impact that occurs in terms of decision making in producing new product is the discussion and the way employees work. All the workers in Samsung company practice the grouping activity and do their works or tasks under their department specialist. As they work from home, the environment of working together had become virtual. The workers had to do meeting in online to complete their works like they conduct meetings in online under the same department using zoom app or any other suitable applications. For example, sales department discuss about sales of company, and make decision together on how to increase the sales even in pandemic, same goes to other department such as design department and marketing department. The decision making process are no longer takes place face-to-face but has changed to a virtual world. For such a big company as Samsung, launching new products is important and not something that can be taken lightly. The top manager play vital roles in decision making, as they conduct a digital decision making in virtual meeting. The digital decision making involves top manager as decision 4
maker, multiple experts and other relevant stakeholders that contribute informations and ideas. Pandemic Covid-19 also impact on decision making in product marketing method. Before this, Samsung itself has use direct method strategy in advertising their products. For example, Samsung advertise their products through television, Internet, media social ads and other else. During pandemic, Samsung still running the advertising method as usual but they come out with honoured and great idea. Samsung company decided to support and value the communities. They are donating smartphones to patients in quarantine to help them keep in touch with their families , and also donating air purifiers and other appliances to the hospitals and quarantine centers. Samsung decision in serving the communities in their country indirectly had practice the indirect method strategy as Samsung allows the customers or people to try their product and experienced it themselves. As the results, Samsung’s profit rose despite the pandemic as 66% of their citizens strongly support this brand. This show Samsung company had a right decision making in marketing and do well in pandemic. They take the opportunity as many customers chose to upgrade their phones, laptops and other devices to have a better work from home. Samsung company stability also successed them in producing the virtual Galaxy S21 Launch Event in the pandemic. Other than that, decision making of customer also effected from pandemic Covid-19. Back then before the regulation changed to shut the business operation, customers are welcomed to walk-in and enter any of Samsung center or branch to take a look at their products, try the gadgets there and let customers know that their new products are good to use. In conjunction with the safe and secures practise concerning Coronavirus COVID-19 in the country. Purpose: This Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) is intended to describe how the work is carried out in all offices, factory and project areas, while at the workplace Covid-19 is prevented and contained. To ensure that legal obligations are made aware and complied with by identifying all factors that may harm employees and others. Scope: This SOP applies to management, employees and visitors. 7

Create a Morning Routine Deciding you'll sit down at your desk and start work at a certain time is one thing. As we all know, mourning routines is the most important things for us to keep the energy throughout the day . If we have a bad morning it will affected our moods in the day so make sure to have a best morning ever! To illustrate of that, a morning walk before start working can give you a perfect morning routine. 3. Set Ground Rules With The People in Your Space Set ground rules with other people in your home or who share your space when you work. 4. Schedule Breaks In our company we must know the policy on break times and take them. A day off wont hurts.. give yourself adequate time during the day to walk away from the computer screen and phone. Keep a Dedicated Office Space In an ideal world, remote employees would have not only a dedicated office, but also two computers, one for work and one for personal use. It's more secure for the employer. By having a comfortable work space it increase your focus while doing works. 7. Maintain a Separate Phone Number Set up a phone number that you only use for calls with colleagues and clients. It doesn't have to be a landline or a second mobile phone, or even require a SIM card. It can be a VoIP service, such as Google Voice or Skype. 8. Take Sick Day When you're not well, take time off. If sick days are part of your compensation package, take the time off that you need.
