QUARTERLY MARKET REPORT LEARJET AIRCRAFT - Q3 2021 Where have all the Learjets Gone? The fourth quarter of 2021 is upon us and Learjets for sale are missing in action. The Learjet has always maintained a strong following of loyal customers but the fear of absence, since Bombardier’s February announcement of terminating the line, has made Learjet owners grow even fonder. As the fourth quarter buying push grows stronger by the day, Learjet prices keep inching up and inventory continues to fall. The only laggard at this point is the current Learjet book values, which aren’t due out until early December, but are sure to show this ferocious buying appetite. Sellers are in the driver’s seat, but buyers who hire representation still have a few tricks up their sleeves. Last quarter, this article stated, “there are still decent options available if you hire a broker for representation that knows where to look for your next aircraft.” During this same period last quarter, there were 77 aircraft from the main Learjet line available. Today, that number is down to 60 with a portion of these under contract. This seller’s market is showing no signs of slowing down. True, this type of market cannot last forever, but it will last for the remainder of this year. Until something throws cold water on these markets, the price of entry will only keep growing. Discouraged buyers should rest assured, there is still hope. The desire to purchase will only lead to success if buyers are willing to be flexible on which model they choose and hire an acquisition expert who knows where to look. The “do it yourselfer” is doomed from the start.
