BOARDS VVVOOOIIICCCEEE OOOFFF TTTHHHEEE BBBOOOAAARRRDDDSSS Warm Greetings Rotaractors! \"Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually, the confidence will follow.” - Carrie Fisher. This club has taught me to step out of my comfort zone to try new things without fear of failure because I feel like we're all a family here and the members will always be there to catch us when we stumble and support us in our steps. To my fellow members, some people will judge you for changing, while others will celebrate you for growing. No matter what, keep going, glowing, and showing the world that you have what it takes to be successful. The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to venture a little past them, into the impossible. Just trust your journey, and the process, raise your energy, and the right people will come into your life. I'm grateful to have met so many people through this club, developed such beautiful relations, and learned so much from them and I wish all the members, a very pleasant Rotaract journey, may you all grow and make beautiful memories and lasting friendships! Also, \"Don’t you know yet? It is your light that lights the world.” - Rumi Keep Growing! Keep Rotaracting! Regards, Rtr. Tanisha Club Service Director 2022-2023 12 | THE PRIDORA | January 2023

Article Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was an incredible individual who left an impact on the world that is still felt today. He was a leader and an icon who inspired people from all walks of life. He was a revolutionary who fought for India's independence from British rule and his legacy continues to be felt today. Born on December 12, 1894, in Cuttack, Orissa, Netaji was the eldest of three children. His father, Motilal Bose, was a well-known philosopher and educationist who served as the director of the Oriental College in Calcutta. Netaji showed an early interest in politics and, at the age of 18, he began his involvement in the Indian nationalist movement. He became a member of the Indian National Congress and quickly became one of its most prominent members. In 1941, Netaji was arrested by British authorities and imprisoned in the Tihar Jail in Delhi. He was later transferred to the Suganagar jail in Rajasthan and then to the Kamarupa jail in Assam. Although he was imprisoned for a long period of time, Netaji never gave up on his goals and continued to fight for India's independence. In 1945, he escaped from prison and, together with his supporters, he began a guerrilla campaign against British forces. Netaji was eventually captured and executed by the British in 1945. However, his legacy continues to be felt today and his story is a testament to the power of the human spirit. Rtr. Samridh Sinha 13|THE PRIDORA | January 2023

POEM MY VISION The clouds won't let Me See the sun, The rain wouldn't Put it Past one. My enemies have arrived And are covering the sky, I wanna defeat them In the twinkle of an eye. The Longest river Started as a drop, I was once weak But I'm going to be at the top. I will break my limit Then I will reach the summit, I don't need any discount and One day I will move the mountain. It's impossible to never Make any sacrifice, But I will rise And reach the sky. Then the sky will be Rtr. Vaibhav Kumar in my hands But will I always keep My feet @Kumarvaibhav34 on the land? 14|THE PRIDORA | January 2023

Reminiscing Moments My First Event It was 10 AM on 22nd December 2022 when the event was scheduled to take place. The event was called \"PATDAN\" and so it was obvious to mark out the aim of the event. It aimed to collect the maximum number of possible old winter clothes from students in order to distribute them among the poor and needy ones. I still remember how badly I wanted to attend the event but was initially reluctant to go since I had to catch my train the same evening. But after much consideration, I made up my mind to attend the event hoping to manage my schedule. The meeting venue was kept at St. Xavier's College and the main event was set to take place at Jagannath Temple which was a bit far from the main city. We all gathered at the meeting venue to segregate the collected clothes in order to make the distribution easier. As soon as all the necessary arrangements were done, we headed out for the temple. The event commenced immediately after everyone took blessings from Lord Jagannath. Being a new recruit I didn't have much idea about the execution of the event. We coordinated with other Rotaractors and took directions from the senior members who were ever ready to guide us. After distributing half of the clothes outside the temple, we decided to distribute the rest of them among the slum people nearby. Thus, we headed out towards the slum and the rest of the distribution was done there. All this time the only thing I could focus on were the happy faces of the little children and their family members. Some old-aged uncles living there also seemed pretty excited about our event and guided us the way through the slum area. Being my first event, it was a totally new experience for me. We were given refreshments soon after the event ended and then we took a group picture. There were smiles all around. After that everyone headed towards their homes being a little more contented than usual. All the way back to my room, the only thing I could possibly think of was how many interesting and memorable moments I would have missed if I had not attended the event. I probably made the best call that day. It was indeed a fun event that became one of the reminiscing moments of my life. Rtr. Piyush Dutta 15|THE PRIDORA | January 2023

LGBTQ+ is an umbrella term for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and more. In the current world, this community still lacks legitimacy and rights. It faces many challenges as a result of misconceptions about the community, including western culture, disease, phase, mental illness, and other conditions. The world will be a better place if we take the initiative to learn and understand this community. This will make it a better place to live for members of this community as well as those who do not know what this community is like. In daily life, some people often confuse gender with sex or sexuality. Some people are not even aware of it due to prevailing illiteracy rates and lack of education on LGBTQ+. Educating ourselves about this content will reduce the rate of existing homophobia and make the LGBTQ+ community feel appreciated, safe, and valued. The same applies to overcoming phobias within ourselves through various steps and practices. Homophobia is a phobia; why not consider overcoming this phobia that will benefit the person living with it and others around them?

Coming to the validation and importance of “Pronouns” in the present world. From our very childhood, we were taught four pronouns: He, She, It, and They. But in everyday life, pronouns can include He / him, They / Them, She / her, and many more. But these three are the most common. He/him and She/her are commonly used pronouns, but we don't know what They/them are, so this is generally a gender-neutral pronoun that helps agender people feel validated, but also allows anyone to use that pronoun. We hope that people learn more in this context and the community gets equal validation. This will enable us to make this planet a little more livable for everyone around us.
