Maya In Kozan Hello, Kozan ! I arr ved n Kozan a sunny Easter morn ng. Mr Vas le os and h s pup ls p cked me up from the a rport. I had a strengthen ng breakfast w th fresh m lk, eggs , home-made bread, sweet and cheese p es and we set off to see the c ty. Kozan s a modern c ty w th lots of old elements. 50
The central church of Sa nt N kolaos and the old bell tower dom nate the central square. The old mans ons are really beaut ful but what really mpressed me was the Folklore and Natural H story Museum. It s huge and the past of the area passes n front of your eyes. We lost track of the t me and now t was t me for lunch. One of the k ds nv ted me to her house. The smell of the del c ous d shes welcomed me at the door: 51
Roast lamb and mage r tsa, the nat onal Easter d shes, ts ts lato, var ous k nds of local cheese and salads w th fresh vegetables. And, of course, tsourek , the sweet bread of Easter. And then came the sweets full of nuts or cream and chocolate!!! 52
We all needed a relax ng walk so we went to the beaut ful park w th the tall trees, the founta ns and the beaut ful lake. Oppos te the park I not ced a modern mpress ve bu ld ng. The k ds told me that t was our next stop: the famous ” Koventar os” L brary, one of the b ggest n Greece. 53
I espec ally adm red the old manuscr pts and the spac ous rooms for the publ c to read. Next and f nal stop for my f rst day was the 13th Pr mary School. My fr ends showed me around and expla ned that t s be ng extended so that there are more classrooms, labs and off ces. It got late, we were all t red, and t was t me to rest for the second day of my v s t. Good n ght Kozan ! 54
Kozan , 2nd day My day started early when a m n -bus p cked us all, students and teachers, to take us to Mount Bour nos. We crossed the green countrys de and went on a short h ke to adm re the rare flowers of the mounta n. After that we v s ted the H stor cal and Archeolog cal Museums and learnt about the h story of the area. I bought beaut ful local handcrafts for souven rs. 55
Our second stop was mount Vo o where we crossed p cturesque stone br dges, walked along narrow streets and adm red the awesome mans ons. When we got hungry, the teachers had a surpr se for us: after a short tr p we arr ved at a lake w th a huge br dge, Lake Polyfytou. There, at Nera da, a small v llage overlook ng the lake, we had our meal wh ch of course was f sh from the lake cooked n many ways, fresh salads and local sweets 56 made w th fru t from the area.
We crossed the fert le valley of Al akmonas R ver and returned to Kozan full of mages and scen c landscapes that I w ll never forget. I thanked everyone for the r warm hosp tal ty, I prom sed to v s t them aga n and nv ted them to my country. 57 Farewell Kozan !!!
Maya In Jordan On Thursday morn ng, I arr ved at Queen Al a Internat onal A rport n the Jordan an cap tal, Amman, when I got off the plane nhaled fresh a r, wandered the old and modern streets of Amman, headed to the down town for breakfast.... Foul, crunchy falafel, ch ckpeas, m nt tea. 58
I went to Souk Al-Bukhar a ( Al-Bukhar a Market ) to buy trad t onal Jordan an products, a shemagh, an embro dered dress, trad t onal s lver accessor es, and some g fts for my fam ly. 59
Then I headed to the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth. There are great secrets n th s sea, I swam n t and ano nted my body w th ts mud, wh ch conta ns many benef ts for the sk n, and I bought some Dead Sea beauty and sk n care products for my mother, as she loves t. 60
I then headed to the c ty of Al-Salt to v s t the cemetery of the Turk sh sold ers who were martyred dur ng the F rst World War, and upon my arr val, the mus c played the Royal Jordan an Peace and the Turk sh Republ can Peace, placed flower wreath on the sold ers' memor al and read Surat Al-Fat ha n the r souls. 61
The people of the beaut ful c ty of Al-Salt took care of me and offered me mansaf for lunch, t tastes very strange and del c ous, and they gave me some Jameed from wh ch they make mansaf, as well as the sp ces for mansaf. 62
On the last stop of the day, I headed to the c ty of Zarqa, where the anc ent and beaut ful desert palaces are. Then I went to the Azraq water reserve to see rare b rds, then to the Shomar reserve to see the Arab an Oryx deer. A beaut ful and hard day. I w ll sleep ton ght, to go to the a rport tomorrow, to go to Aqaba. 63
Maya In Umm Qa s My Jordan fr end Ibt sam Abu Dlakh welcomed me, to my “ second country”, Jordan. She prom sed to ntroduce me to her country's her tage landmarks. She s from Irb d. Here s Umm Qa s, located 28 km from the Irb d governorate n northern Jordan. Umm Qa s dates back to the Greek era as t was one of the c t es of the Roman all ance and was d st ngu shed as the c ty of sages and ph losophers and was famous for many poets Among the most famous of her poets Arab us ... 64
Umm Qa s was known n the days of a wall and t s one of the Greek c t es ... t played an mportant role dur ng the wars that raged between the forces of Alexander the Great to se ze Syr a ... 65
Umm Qa s has an area of about 550 dunums .Some of the most prom nent monuments n Umm Qa s are the two theaters, the northern theater and the western theater, the churches square, the ma n street, the royal cemetery and the T ber as Gate. It also ncludes an Ottoman v llage and water tunnels that flow for long d stances under the ground. How many wonderful th ngs I w ll see!!! 66
Maya In Petra My Jordan fr ends came to Aqaba to welcome me and spend a day n Aqaba. I swam n the Red Sea, saw the coral reefs and I walked at the beach. Next day we went to Petra. I walked n the canyon and I adm red the h gh mounta ns. 67
I rode a horse and arr ved to Treasury where I cl mbed the mounta ns w th the ch ldren. I stayed n an old v llage. In the n ght I had a very spec al exper ence: I saw Petra at n ght n the l ght of candles. I bought a bottle of sand as a souven r . 68
The ch ldren asked me to go w th them to wad Rum. We stayed n the camp and I cl mbed a mounta n. I had a n ce even ng n the desert and I watched how they make mand wh ch s a trad t onal food n Jordan . Now I wants to go back to Turkey. I enjoyed my v s t so much!!! 69
