Reminiscences An Initiative of Editorial Board-DPS Nacharam 1
From Vice-Principal’s Desk Creative expressions evolve into unpredictable Pandora box filled with knowledge. Only if the pen had wings, it would have flown all around the universe to bring back stories galore! We at DPS are quite optimistic that the values imbibed throughout the schooling will result in a successful life. The values imparted to the students today either consciously or unconsciously will have a major impact on our society tomorrow. In this fast moving technological world, my only advice to all the readers is to liveevery moment hundred percent. Take time to appreciate nature and its gifts. Be self-disciplined, compassionate,an effective communicator and most of all have general awareness to evolve into a leader.Move with the times…but be grounded. My best wishes to the new editorial team for their successful contribution towards this special issue of DPSChimes. Nandita Sunkara Editor- in-Chief (Vice Principal)Message from Raygalla Kalyan SrinivasIt has been a wonderful journey in terms of training the youngminds of DPS Nacharam about Journalism, editorials and thevarious responsibilities that come with the preparation of anewsletter. Yashasvi Malka I believe that DPS has made me who I am today and has been an integral part of my life. I did not like this school until 10th grade. However, joining the hostel in 11th grade changed my perspective. As I started spending all my time in school, I grew to love it. As a previous head boy I believe that a leader is someone who stands up for his people and not just someone who scores good grades. My most precious memory in DPS was when my batch mates and I contributed to provide finan- cial support to our cricket coach who was then suffering from cancer.Whenever I mention I'm from DPS, people's respect for meincreases. DPS gives students numerous opportunities andbigger platforms to showcase their talent when compared to other schools. My best day at DPS wasthe day I visited school months after I graduated. It was a very nostalgic moment for me. To all myjuniors I would say take every opportunity that comes your way and don't give up.Do something for which people will remember you.As said to Tanya Sehgal and formulated by Nikita Masurkar Vamsi Krishna My batch mates and I came up with the idea of wheelathon and it is something I’ll never forget. Certainly my most memorable event in DPS. We put our blood sweat and tears responsibility and management. I has a desire to avoid may think you’ve got time. But trust me, you don’t. Time Management is one of the most important skills for a student. And it’s the most crucial for a 11th and 12th standard student as it partially decides where you’ll doing alright, but the truth is there’s always room for improvement. Whatever you do, make sure you don’t regret it at a point where you can’t do anything anymore. And remember, always be grateful for the position you are at because there are so many unfortunate people who have no idea what they’re missing on. -As told to Tanya Sehgal and formulated by Nikita Masurkar6
Aditya ShivamThe world outside DPS is both similar and different. It is similar because there is the very same healthy competitive atmosphere and the reason I’m able to cope up with it now is because of the exposure that DPS gave me to the same. It is different because I no longer get the care and affection I used to get in school. That sense of home away from home is hard to find outside DPS. I miss being the head boy and cherish all the memories I made at the canteen with friends. Where you have a football ground now, we had our bus bay. My most remembered moments in DPS include the time I became the head boy along with all the stay backs we had prior to our board exams and the games periods whenwe would all play football. I assure my juniors to just relax and give their best because they are in the best hands. However, there’s one thing I’d like to tell you all, learn to respect everyone. Have fun but never at the cost ofhurting someone. Being a respectful person will take you a long way in life.-As said to Tanya Sehgal and formulated by Nikita Masurkar Umme Ayman Life outside DPS is completely different. You will learn how to value your life in DPS only after stepping out of it. DPS helped me shape my personality. I was encouraged to come out of my comfort zone. The post of Head Girl came as a blessing. Today, I could be handed a mic in front of an audience and I would still know to deliver my thoughts without a pinch of embarrassment or fear. After my last day of school, when I was back home, I took my evening nap wearing my blazer and uniform for I knew that once I removed it, I would pack it away forever. That feeling hit me really hard and left me craving for one more day of school. Being the Head Girl I learned to balance my academics as well as be an active council member. Failure is just an illusion because until you try, you will never know where you will end up. So be brave enough to break your own barriers for it will help you become a stronger and braver person.-As said to Tanya Sehgal and formulated by Nikita Masurkar 7
Srikanth RaoBeing from DPS gives us a headstart in life. When we carryforward our identity from school, it makes us stand out of thecrowd. Organising events in school taught me lots of thingsthat are handy now. I took up things like parliamentarydebating and organised awareness camps on various issues.I was able to do because of the exposure and opportunitiesschool gave me. Dipsites come out to be bold and confident. We are ready to accept any kind of challenge and the same is visible in the way we carry ourselves. When I say I am from DPS, people already have a notion that I am confident and outspoken. As I recall, none of us cried on the farewell. We wanted to make the most out of it. The real thing hit us when we were done with our last board exam. We realized that school days were over. Back in my days we didn’t have a separate football ground. We utilized the minimal facilities to the fullest. Now I see that the school has developed so much with better grounds and coaches, the juniors need to realize what they have got and value it. Ten years down the line I see our school reaching new heights. It develops each day and it’s a treat to see that. -As said to Tanya Sehgal and formulated by Nikita MasurkarAnussha Narain DPS is a world in itself but the world outside is completely . I have my share of experiences and obstacles but school schedules were way different. So many things that we used to worry about in school barely matter now. Experiences and opportunities in school taught me so much, gave me confidence and strength. When I walk into school today,I see how much the infrastructure has changed. However, the students today are justdifferent versions of us and how we were as students. Being a Dipsite has definitely givenme a headstart in many ways. The moment I say I’m from DPS people form this ratherperfectionist image of me and I don’t blame them. It’s how we are groomed and broughtup. My only advice to my juniors would be to live school days to the fullest because youwon’t get them back. Study hard but don’t let academics take away all your time. Learnfrom every experience and take the good even from the bad.-As said to Tanya Sehgal and formulated by Nikita Masurkar8
Saurabh Simha range of people, I realised how protected I was when in school. Being the head boy thrice helped undoubtedly helped me enhance my decision making and organisational skills. I miss my batch mates with whom I mingled extremely well. I recall all the times we hung out and cherishes those memories. I reminisce that although I was emotional during my farewell, I did not shed a tear. To all my juniors I would say do not worry about petty issues and remember to be an all rounder. Don’t focus solely on academics because the world is full of other things.
