COVID-19 RELIEF FUND The Scheinberg Relief Fund was established, with an allocation of US$50M, by businessman and philanthropist Mark Scheinberg, together with his family, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our mission is to provide strategic, high impact relief for individuals and communities in locations where the family has a personal or business presence. As well as reducing the short-term impact of the virus, we’re also seeking to build a lasting legacy in the communities and initiatives that we are giving to, by providing funding for longer-term projects to secure a longer term impact.

OUR FUNDING SUPPORTS SOCIAL BENEFIT PROJECTS WITHIN FOUR CATEGORIES: Medical Equipment and Supplies Food Security Elderly Care Animal Welfare Donations have already been made to non-profit organisations and initiatives in 10 countries across 4 continents. These include Canada, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Isle of Man, Israel, South Africa, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the United States.

MEDICAL EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES The global shortage and cost of key life-saving equipment and supplies was identified as a primary issue that affected all geographies. Therefore, the provision of personal protective equipment, medical and sanitary supplies and testing kits had to be a main focus. MASKS FOR MEDICS Masks for Medics is a collaboration between doctors and healthcare workers who are on the frontline treating those infected with COVID-19. Their aim is to equip community health-workers with the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required to keep themselves and others safe.

Masks for Medics supplies gloves, visors, gowns, surgical masks, high risk masks (N95/KN95/FFP2), sanitiser, thermometers, pulse oximeters and essential monitoring equipment to nurses, care- givers to the elderly, emergency responders, doctors, mental health workers, palliative care workers, and anyone who is caring for very sick COVID-19 patients in their own homes. IMPACT Funding has been provided by the Scheinberg Fund to cover the PPE needs of 116 care homes for the elderly (with 11,041 residents and 6,527 staff) across the Greater Metropole of Cape Town for 3 months, to supply the PPE required to protect St John Ambulance’s community care workers for 6 months, as well as core funding towards Masks for Medics overheads and expenses for 6 months.
