Director’s notes Welcome to our show and the exciting adventures that follow as we travel around the world. This has been a challenging journey, it all began just 80 days ago when rehearsals commenced. Incredibly, this has all come together with just 10 rehearsals for the ensemble! When the phone call came from Paul Rushforth, head teacher from Minehead Middle, asking if I could direct the school’s summer show I was at that time planning my musical for the Dreams Performing Arts. Our show dates were only days apart, so we decided to do a joint musical. And what better choice being, “Around the world in eighty days” as we celebrate the Olympics. The cast have worked really hard, enjoying making new friends and helping each otherto learn their lines and the choreography. The soloists had fun practicing with the band,we had a lot of laughs. Thank you to all the children, you are fabulous!!!A big thank you goes to the Design and Technology department at MMS who made aspectacular Chinese Dragon, Eugene the elephant and many more wonderful props.Special thanks to Jill Thompson, Georgina Charnock, Cheryl Milsom and Rachel Wyldsfor all their great input towards the show.Behind the scenes Jane Potiszil and Sally Scyner made many of the wonderful costumes, special thanks to them, also to Clare Williams who helped me at the first costume fitting.Thank you to the expertise of lighting director, Jim Woodley, on sound, Chaz and GarethBass. So sit back and enjoy, and come on a voyage of discovery as you go around the world in80 days.

This is the second time I have been in a show at the Regal, in last year’sschool performance of the Jungle Book, I played the role of Hatti JR (the baby elephant). Many people have worked extremely hard to make this year’s performance stage worthy. You would not believe the transformation that has been made since the first rehearsal(hopefully for the better)! I hope all goes well this evening, enjoy the show! Abi Puddy-Chambers (Miss Fotherington) Hi, Around the World in 80 days is my second performance with the school.
