Name : Nithin Sakapuram Roll No : 1009-20-166-015 BA 2nd Year Department : BA (HSG) 2nd Year Email ID: [email protected] Sahan: A Boy With No Friends Once upon a time there was a village named Chatrankot, the capital of Dandakaranya, a kingdom of forest, and also the head village of the „Seven Villages Council‟. The head of the Chitrankot was called as Mahatya. It was the time of the 3rd Mahatya Karikala Virvasthya. All of sudden the robbers attacked Chitrankot on a miserable night. All the great warrior of the village started to defend the attack of robbers. May warriors including the 3rd Mahatya Karikala Virvasthya lost his life on the line of duty. Even though it lost its Mahatya, the village stood strong and replaced 3rd Mahatya chair with the 4th Mahatya Devdurgha Shaji, a warrior, professor and administrator from Shaji clain of that village. A boy was born in the village a day before the incident took place. He borne with a „star curse mark‟ on his left hand. There was a myth that „a person who borne with the star curse mark brings troubles to the village and consider such person as monsters.‟ Henceforth the villagers did not accept the boy to stay in their village. In addition to this the villagers demand for the assassination of the boy. They said death of a monster is good for all. But the 4th Mahatya Devdurgha Shaji did not supported arguments of the people. He considered the myth was not fact and ordered everyone not to talk about the star curse mark. The boy with curse mark is named as Sahan. The 4th Mahatya took over the charges of Sahan. He provided Sahan with food, shelter and everything he wants except the love of parents. The people of the village hates Sahan since very beginning because of his curse mark and the incident after his birth. This continued the same as he grows. At age of 5 Sahan was introduced to school 60 | P a g e

2 by 4th Mahatya. But his education did not continued well. He was not interested in schooling. All he likes is wander around the streets of the village and causing a trouble for the people of the village unknowingly. He did not cares for anyone and became a trouble maker of the village. He had no friends to play. Not even a single person who likes him except the 4th Mahatya. He always wishes to play like all other children in the village. Unfortunately he fails everytime to find a friend to play. One day when Sahan was walking through the street two women were whispering about him. One lady said „hey is that boy..!! The boy with curse...‟ The other stopped her and said „we are not supposed to talk about that, it was prohibited' . Sahan heard this and feels annoyed of them. On a fine morning he found a boy of his age who is willing to play with Sahan, if Sahan manages to give him an expensive gift. Sahan then rushed to market and bought an expensive pen with the money he saved for his new outfit. He gave that pen to the boy. All of sudden when they start to play, the father of the boy appeared there and warns the boy not play with Sahan. „ He is a monster, you are not supposed to play with him‟ he continued. Though the years passes the situation of Sahan did not changed. Sahan reaches his 12th birthday. The 4th Mahatya Devdurgha Shaji summoned Mahanvir Patya, an instructor in school of Sahan. Mahatya discussed about the situation of Sahan. He further added to take special care of Sahan. „ Today Sahan's 12th birthday. He growing now. But still he have no friends in this village. Mahanvir, teach him to make friends, explain about the value of friendship and value of loved people‟. „ I will take care of Sahan‟ assured Mahanvir. Mahanvir started walking out and searched for Sahan. He couldn't found Sahan anywhere. Searching the whole village he found Sahan near a waterfall sitting alone shedding tears. “Sahan..!” shouted Mahanvir. He approached Sahan and enquires him about his misery. “ How do you know it feels all alone,, right from my very childhood. No love of parents. Do you know how I feels without a family for me?My parents sacrificed their in line of duty. Do you know how it feels to me” Sahan rised his voice with tearful eyes. “ I know... I know how you feels.... Sahan...” replied Mahanvir. “ Cause even my parents put their lives on the line of duty to protect this village when I was 7 years old. I know your pain better than any other in this village Sahan. We shares 61 | P a g e

common feelings towards parents love. Its unfortunate to both of us. But we must not feel sad for their sacrifice,, they are the great of warriors... Feeling sad of their sacrifice is not acceptable. I know.. A boy inside you cry everyday for the parents love. But you have to realise that they sacrificed for us. That means they always with us in every object of this village air ,water, soil, everything.” continued Mahanvir. “Sir, Why do people risk there life for others” questioned Sahan. “Everyone's life is one time opportunity. A person life is a great opportunity to him. Only in some situations a man put his life on line. And that situation is for the sake of his loved one's... the one is precious him. It maybe people, his land, his friends what ever, he risks his life for the things which are precious to him. And you are precious to me Sahan” replied Mahanvir. “Family is not by blood Sahan. Treat your fellow person as your family member, then this world will be your family. Friends are important part of life Sahan, you should make friendship with fellow children. Everyone in this village saw a trouble maker in you. Prove that your not a trouble maker, prove them your not a failure. I know Sahan one day like our parents, you too stand for this village and protect this village” Mahanvir ended his conversation. Sahan thought about what Mahanvir said. This conversation brought about a change in the path way of Sahan. He thanked Mahanvir for his piece of advices. From the next moment he tried to win the love of his people. At the end of his life Sahan had too many friends and wins love of all the people in his village and kingdom. Its only possible with his dedication and attitude of never giving it up. And there the real story starts... Name : Pettem Sri Vidya Roll No : 100921861079 Year : 1st year Department : Department of Informatics Email Id. : [email protected] Title of the Article : Caste Caste Hey connections, I don't want to waste your precious time. So, Let's dive into the topic. As you already know the title is \"Caste\". \"Caste\" is such a topic that can't be ignorable. Maybe because of untouchability, reservation or rituals we follow. After I went through a few articles and videos about \"Caste\". I came to one understanding. So I want to share it with you. Without any delay, Let's start. In prior, let us know what our scriptures taught us about Caste\". When it comes to caste, it is defined as follows 63 | P a g e

1.Brahmi 2.Kshatriya 3.Vaishya 4.Shudra According to scriptures, \"Caste\" is one's community or the group in which one chooses to stay. However, the four Categories are referred to as the natures of work, which one does, according to their skills. It is dismal that in our society due to these categories: 1.People are discriminated against massively. 2.Injustice and inequality still prevail. Guess why? All because so-called society tagging people with a \"Caste\" by birth. But the truth is, A \"Caste\" cannot be, determined since birth. In our scriptures, Krishna to Arjuna says, \" O Arjuna, all the different qualities of work of the various castes in society, namely the Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras, are determined by the innate modes of their natures. \" -Bhagavad Gita 18.4 \" There is no superior Caste. The beings created by Lord Vishnu are into Castes according to their skills/abilities. \" -Shanti parva, Mahabharata Here natures or attributes are nothing but the character one possesses or skills one has. One's occupation and social order are on their nature. Exactly how in modern times we have Human Resource Management. Whichever candidate comes for a job in a company. The person goes through the human resource department. They test the seeker's skills, knowledge and nature. And as per the seeker's credibility, they have been offered a position. 64 | P a g e

As per Bhagavad Gita, Every person has three attributes. They are: RAJAS(Extroversion) -> Passionate, Always active, Excitement, Emotional, Angry, Extreme in everything. TAMAS(Introversion) -> Lazy, Inactive, Non-Interactive, Dullness, Promotes sleep, Non-awareness. SATTVA(Ambiversion) -> Intelligent, Balanced, Active, Smart, Composed, Interactive, Decisive, Stable, Alert. Every person is a mixture of these three attributes/characteristics. Let us understand how it is transcribed as \"Caste\" for individuals. Caste is dependent on the proportion of Rajas, Sattva and Tamas. RAJAS: SATTVA: TAMAS 20:70:10 -> Brahmin They can be Decision-makers, Priests, Teachers, Advisors, Mentors, Leaders. As to the corporate world, they can be Managing Director, CEO, President. 70:20:10 -> Kshatriya They can be Soldiers, Fighters. As to the corporate world, they can be SR Manager, Vice- President. 40:35:25 -> Vaishya They can be Merchants, Traders, Farmers, Money Lenders. As to the corporate world, they can be SR Executive, Mid-Level Manager. 20:10:70 -> Shudra 65 | P a g e

They can be Service Providers, Workers, Helpers. As to the corporate world, they can be Executives, Workers, Daily Wagers. When one's attribute proportion changes, \"Caste\" also changes. So, any person's \"Caste\" cannot be decided upon birth. By birth, everyone is \"Shudra\" by default. Because a newborn's, -Unknown about all things -Need to be taught and nurtured A baby's \"Caste\" gets highlighted once they grow up as their nature develops with age by •Education •Knowledge •Environment Therefore in our Vedas, Shudra has been said to be the foundation. So we can conclude that \"Caste\" automatically changes as per the attribute proportion changes. Example: Sage Vyasa, writer of The Mahabharata who born to a Shudra but by his work, he became a Brahmin. Similarly, Sage Valmiki writer of The Ramayana. But as time flew \"Caste System\" got corrupted, people started recognizing castes with surnames, and it became a family tradition to pass on \"Caste\". In Bhagavad Gita, it stated, \" Birth is not the cause. It is a virtue. Which is the cause of auspiciousness. \" -Bhagavad Gita \"Caste\" can be determined from karma and the three attributes, which cannot be determined by looking at the last name. 66 | P a g e

Another thing is people misinterpret that, • Brahmin came out of Lord Vishnu's Head. • Kshatriya came out of Lord Vishnu's Hands. • Vaishya came out of Lord Vishnu's Stomach. • Shudra came out of Lord Vishnu's Legs. • But the fact is, •• Lord Vishnu's head represents Brahmin. •• Lord Vishnu's hands represent Kshatriya. •• Lord Vishnu's stomach represents Vaishya. •• Lord Vishnu's legs represent Shudra. But It has been purely mentioned in Vedas that, Lord Vishnu is a Metaphor that represents a group of people or society. Again it doesn't mean Brahmin is superior and Shudra is inferior. As how, every part of our body is equally important likewise every \"Caste\" is equally important. Therefore this concept has been mentioned in Vedas by stating Vishnu as a METAPHOR. We can use the \"Caste System\" in our lives like Human Resource Management. You can evaluate People based on their nature and recruit them as per your needs. We can use the \"Caste System\" as a \"Self Development Tool\". Step 1: Evaluate your percentage of attributes. 1) RAJAS(extroversion) 2) TAMAS(introversion) 3) SATTVA(ambiversion) Step 2: Try to select an occupation or do things in awareness of your attributes for maximum output. 67 | P a g e

Step 3: Increase your Sattva nature. Step 4: Decrease your Tamas and Rajas Nature. It can help you in your personal life and career growth. Reference: https://youtu.be/Ui0z6ceY2H8 68 | P a g e
