OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS: THE TCCIANS BRIDGE? Jackielyn Jhan Gendrano The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) is the school's principal point of contact with students. The OSA ensures that policies are put in place to promote students' academic goals and overall development. The Office of Student Affairs is in charge of monitoring the students' welfare and discipline on campus. Overseeing the implementation of programs and activities by non-academic organizations is one of the functions of the office. Student activities such as school publications, culture and arts, sports, leadership, and scholarship grants are the focus of OSA. Mostly, keeping an eye on non-academic organizations is what the OSA does. At the present, the Office of Student Affairs of Tanauan City College has four non-academic organizations. All the programs and activities conducted by those organizations go through the OSA for approval first. During the implementation, it supervises to ensure the protocols are being followed regarding the execution of programs. They also inspect the budgetary requirements to see if the funds allocated are appropriately used by the non-academic organization. Aside from that, the scholarship, specifically the TES scholarship by the CHED, is also under the OSA. They collect students' applications for the TES scholarship and the requirements and submit them to the CHED. In just one year, as the Office of Student Affairs Dean, Mrs. Shara May J. Logan and other personnel experienced the activeness of the different organizations. She saw it as a key milestone for the office with the continuous opportunity to open new non-academic organizations. One of the newest organizations is Campus Connect, the campus ministry that focuses on sharing God's words. Furthermore, being organized and connected to the different organizations is also an achievement for the office. Some of the programs and activities are held with the collaboration of these non-academic organizations. Due to the students' different interests, OSA aims to open more non-academic organizations that cater to the students' specific hobbies or interests. She emphasizes that the office wanted to ensure that all students belong to an organization to which they can relate. She firmly believes that belonging to an organization related to their interests helps the students relieve their stress from academic work. It is in charge of overseeing and guiding recognized student organizations and councils. It keeps track of all student-led and student-related events.
