If not for dreams, great inventions would never materialize, people would never join together in unity of purpose and everyone would be content to just let things be instead of working to improve matters. Every great invention, company, career and drum corps started as someone's dream. • Pieces of a Dream moves through the evolution of a dream from its original spark of an idea, through the struggle of its development to its glorious realization , and plays off Eleanor Roosevelt's statement, \"The future belongs to those who believe in the of their dreams. \" • Music is by corps arrangers Nick Golding and Jeffery Willis. The movements are titled Movement 1- The Spark, Movement 2-The Right Pieces, Movement 3-Adversity and Movement 4-Realization of a

Long before the advent of microscopes and molecular biology, it was thought that all matter was constructed from four primary substances: earth , air, water and fire. These substances serve as the inspiration for John Meehan's original four-movement composition , The Elements. • The flurry of members scurrying about creates a mighty breeze in \"Air,\" an audible gust of sound brushing the blades of the field turf. The clanging and clashing of heavy machinery in \"Earth \" demonstrates humankind 's incessant desire to change the face of the planet. • The advance of \"Water\" pushes the sounds of advancing civilization into the distance as the fluid- like push and pull of tempo and meter dampens everything in sight. But in the face of advancing \"Fire, \" a raging inferno causes sweat beads to form on those sitting in the front rows of the

DCI tour and the World Championships for the first time since 2002. The corps, hailing from Dordrecht, the oldest city in the Netherlands, is ~~~~iJffi:tiJJJlltime~mai~f!md~ touring the United States in celebration of its 95th anniversary. • The corps won five titles at the Drum Corps Holland national championships during its attendance from 1982 to 1996 and also won the first Drum Corps Europe championship in 2002. Call it immaturity, but we still love it when our friends come by to play. Watching great musicians perform w ith the products you've created is a wonderful feeling. It fosters a sense of pride that encompasses everything we do. Are we the largest? No. But, we're working on that. The best? Some think so ... but we'll leave that judgment up to others. Let's just say that, so far. .. we've aced Semi Finals with a perfect score in Percussion Quality, and w e'll see you in Madison. We would like to thank the following Corps for choosing Innovative Percussion Drumsticks or Mallets as they face another year of great competition. The young performers who take part in the Summer Music Games Tour inspire people every day. They can move an audience from tears of sadness one moment to total euphoria the next. Because they strive for excellence in what they do, they often make the performance look easy. It is not. Every performance, whether on a rehearsal field or in a stadium in front of thousands of fans, is the culmination of months of hard work, of sweat and of toil. The incredible achievements of drum corps are a direct result of the dedication of thousands of educators to the enrichment of the lives of young people through music and the performing arts . Many of today's performers will become the next generation of teachers, helping to instill in their students a commitment to excellence in everything they do. • SupportMusic.com is a public service initiative involving more than 100 national and local organizations united to support quality education that includes music and the arts. • Drum Corps International is an active participant in the national coalition. Together, we can keep the joys and benefits of music in all of our nation's classrooms . • •
