PH, to look for 50 to 70 Millions doses of covid-19 vaccine By: Rheycee Cyrell Agapito https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/09/covid-1-coronavirus-vaccine- MANILA, Philippines - The government is looking for a 50 to 70 million eu-regulation-languages/ dosage of Covid-19 vaccine developed by Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech, which covers 60 to 70 percent of Filipino population. Vaccine Czar, Carlito Galvez Jr. said in a television briefing, “We are looking at China’s Sinovac as one of the sources, securing more or less 20 to 50 million doses.” He also added, “In 3 to 5 years, the government is targeting approximately 50 to 70 million (people) to receive vaccines, but only 20 million to 30 million Filipinos a year can be vaccinated by the government.” Sinovac vaccine has already been submitted to the Philippines’ Food and Drug Administration (FDA), while the government is still waiting for the result of Phase 3 clinical trials. Philippines is securing supplies for target population sectors, and private businesses are also rushing to secure doses for their workers. Before the government's vaccine campaigns hit them, Filipinos eager to pay for vaccination may get inoculated.

FLOW OF HOPE (EDITORIAL) Lorea Belle Mangulabnan Corona virus (CoVid19) targets our respiratory system but more than that, it kills our mental health’s well-being. The National Center for Mental Health(NCMH) reported that since the pandemic happened especially during the month of April, May, June, and July, the rates of calls for mental health concerns spike up to 32 -37 calls per day from the 13-15 daily calls before the lock down. Our mind- the controller of our body is not strong against the impact of CoVid. We cannot deny the fact that stressors filed up and sadly, some took their own lives because of that such as the recent death of an eighteen- year-old student from Guimba, Nueva Ecija. We are the hope of mother land. We are expected to be physically strong, but the controller of our strength is uncontrolled. We are uncertain, scared and hopeless and it feels like we cannot do anything about it except to let time pass. But how can we encourage others if we are also paralyzed by our thinking? The most possible way we can encourage others is to encourage ourselves. We must prioritize ourselves so that encouragement and hope will invisibly flow through the people around us. Self-care is very essential. It includes taking breaks while studying, having a ten-minute bath or just simply walking in your neighborhood while complying to minimum health standards such as wearing of facemask and face shields. But in case that mental health problem is not curable by self-care, or it feels like there is no hope, always remember to seek out. Call a friend, tell your parents how you feel, or you can call non-government organizations which offer free consultation. There is no man in an island-like this saying-we need others. We need social support. And I think that what we lacks during this pandemic. CoVid19 is a great enemy but if we become accountable with each other, it will not threaten our lives as well as our mental health well-being. Most importantly, we can be the change we want to see.
