Max cannot sleep. In the morning, he is going to the park with Sam and Casper. 4

All he can think of is swooping the highest on the swings. 5

Then he will run up the steep stairs and shoot down the tunnel. 6

Next, Max will zip across the park at high speed. 7

The alarm clock rings. Max gets up, but all he can see is gloom and rain. 8

“It’s a storm,” Mom says. “I’m afraid we cannot go to the park.” Max is so disappointed. 9

Mom has a plan! She starts by popping popcorn. 10

Then she gets a green blanket and sets up a tent. Max puts three stools in and Mom strings up lights. 11

When Sam and Casper come, they point at the tent. “What’s that?” says Sam. 12

“It is a thunder and lightning tent,” explains Max. “Come and see.” The three of them get in the tent. 13

They hear the thunder boom and see the bright lightning. 14

“It’s not as much fun as the park,” says Max. But they all agree that it is the next best thing! 15
