**************************************************************** Unity In Diversity India is a land of “Unity in Diversity”. India-Land of Unity in Diversity - Article India is a land of “Unity in Diversity”. The high mountain ranges, vast seas, large river-irrigated lands, countless rivers and streams, dark forests, sandy beaches and deserts, all these have adorned India with an exceptional diversity. Among the people there are numerous races, castes, creeds, religions and languages. In India, national integration alone can be the foundation of a strong, united and prosperous India, especially in these days of extremism and terrorism. Mahatma Gandhi sacrificed his life for unity and harmony. Though there are Bengalis, Gujaratis, Punjabis, Maharashrians, Tamilians, etc. in our country, the fact is that, regardless of divisions and distinctions, caste or creed, we have lived together for thousands of years. The same mother land sustains us irrespective of our differences. Over the ages, we have developed deep respect for each other. The Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, the Sikhs, Parsis- all greet each other on festivals. This explains the deep-rooted element of unity among the followers of different religions. India is one of the largest countries of the world. Different regions experience wide and varied weather conditions- extreme and moderate. The language spoken in a state is different from another.People in each state differ in their dress habits, too. They celebrate different festivals and perform different religious rites. Each group has its unique culture. Irrespective of these distinctions and diversities, Indian feel a sense of unity and oneness among them. Thus, we may rightly conclude that though India is a land of countless diversities, there is a single twine of unity that binds us all. Most of the people in and around my house were sleeping. It was quiet all around. I started walking alone. I noticed some small stones lying near, which I picked and began throwing around. Suddenly I heard a whine; one stone must have hit a stray dog which was lying there. It sprang up and started chasing me. I was scared and. “Escape,” I told myself. I saw a huge stone which I picked and threw at it. The stone hit the dog’s front leg and it collapsed.I kept running toward home without thinking much. Suddenly a feeling of guiltiness arose in me. I rushed to the spot where the dog was lying. Although it was scared, I patted it gently and brought it home.My cousin Arif saw me and asked what the matter was. I explained to him and he asked me to get on his bicycle. I got on with the dog in my lap, whose leg I pressed hard as it was bleeding. We reached the vet. The veterinarian treated the dog. But I had no money with me to pay the doctor. Seeing this, Arif took his wallet to pay him. But to our surprise, the veterinarian refused to accept the bill by saying that what we did was an exemplary thing. Later, I sought my parents’ permission to keep the dog as my pet. My wish was granted. I named him Ricky, who became my great friend. He understands me a lot. I am blessed to have a friend like him. Everything from education to the workplace and even human societies depend on communication to understand each other. Communication is as old as our civilisation itself, from time immemorial, man, animals and all living things communicated with each other verbally and non-verbally. People communicate in multiple ways. General types of communication include: Verbal: Communication in which spoken words are used to convey information. Non-verbal: This type of communication includes posture, facial expressions and kinesics (gestures) to convey information. Written: Written communication is in many forms, such us emails, texts, old-fashioned pen and paper. Visual: This involves the visual messages from the sender to the receiver. This is among the oldest communication modes when the ancient people were unaware of any language to communicate with; they used drawings and symbols to communicate. 43

Formal and Informal Communication can be formal as well as informal. Formal communication is meant to establish substantial work atmosphere in the business sector and business relationships or work relationships. Informal communication may hold various emotions and personal feelings. Communication is a vital part of our life. There are different communication modes available globally, and all of them are essential in one way or the other. We need to have good communication skills as it can improve the way we succeed or limp in life. Albert Einstein- The One Who Influenced Me Most “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” Einstein was born on March 14, 1879 in Germany. Though he was a Jew by birth, he attended a Catholic school. In 1901, he gained his diploma and in 1905, he obtained his doctor’s degree. He invented the theory of relativity. Einstein won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921. The great scientist died in 1955 at the age of 76 in New Jersey, United States. The scientist as everyone believed had a special brain. This made the pathologist Thomas Harvey steal Einstein’s brain. It's true that Einstein justly devised the theory of relativity. It was this theory that revolutionised our understanding of space, time, universe and the force of gravity. Dear friends, there are a few things which you might not know or remember about Einstein as an inventor. Paper Towel It is true that paper towels were invented by Scott Paper Company of Pennsylvania. The product was launched in 1907 as a more hygienic alternative to cloth towels. But in his first physics article, Einstein had analysed a phenomenon that allowed paper to soak up liquids. The candle wick pulls hot wax when it burns by the same process. Stock Market Forecasts Wall Street trading firms hire armies of mathematicians to analyse the daily ebb and flow of stock prices using the most sophisticated tools at their command. If these math wizzes can come up with even a slight hint about which way the prices will jump, their employers stand to make billions. However, stock markets follow what mathematicians call a random walk: some of the math behind these delicate stock market analyses can be traced back to Einstein. He was trying to explain an odd fact that was first noticed by English botanist Robert Brown in 1827. Brown looked through his microscope and saw that the dust grains in a droplet of water were jittering around aimlessly. This Brownian motion, as it was first dubbed, had nothing to do with the grains being alive, so what kept them moving? A full explanation had to wait for Einstein’s paper on the subject in 1905. Einstein realised that the visible grains were actually getting jostled by invisible water molecules. He turned this insight into an equation that described the jittering mathematically. His 45

Brownian motion paper is widely recognised as the first incontrovertible proof that atoms and molecules really exist—and it serves as the basis for some stock market forecasts. Solar Power In March 1958, the U.S. Navy launched a grapefruit-size sphere dubbed Vanguard I into orbit around Earth. People paid attention, partly because it was the first to be powered by a futuristic technology known as solar cells—shiny slabs of semiconductor that turned sunlight into electricity.Einstein didn’t invent solar cells; the first crude versions of them date back to 1839. But he did sketch out their basic principle of operation. In 1905,  Albert Einstein discovered light particles known today as \"photons.\" He predicted that photons above a certain energy level would eject electrons. This revolutionary discovery led to our modern semiconductor technologies, including solar cells. Laser Pointers If you’ve been to a conference or played with a cat, chances are you’ve seen a laser pointer in action. In the nearly six decades since physicists demonstrated the first laboratory prototype of a laser in 1960, the devices have come to occupy almost every realm, from barcode readers to systems for laser treatment. All of it grows out of an idea that Einstein had in 1917, as he was trying to understand more about how light interacted with matter. He started by imagining a bunch of atoms that are bathed in light. He knew from his previous work that atoms which are sitting in their lowest energy state can absorb photons and jump to a higher energy state. Likewise, the higher energy atoms can spontaneously emit photons and fall back to lower energies. When enough time has passed, everything settles into equilibrium. That assumption gave Einstein an equation he could use to calculate what the radiation from such a system ought to look like. But his calculations didn’t match. Something was missing. So, Einstein made an inspired guess: may be photons like to march in step, so that the presence of a bunch of them going in the same direction will increase the probability of a high-energy atom emitting another photon in that direction. He called this process stimulated emission, and when he included it in his equations, his calculations fit the observations perfectly. A laser is just a gadget for harnessing this phenomenon. It excites a bunch of atoms with light or electrical energy, then send the photons they release into an army marching in perfect one direction. The tribute to Einstein is right in the word “laser,” which is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Egyptian Recipe Ingredients: Oil, garlic, tomato juice and sauce, salt, black pepper, cumin, vinegar, onions, macaroni, lentils, rice, water. How to prepare the sauce: In a pot over medium heat, pour the oil and garlic. Stir the garlic until it becomes yellow in colour, then add the tomato juice, and stir everything for 3 minutes. Leave the sauce on a medium heat for 5 minutes until it begins to boil. Reduce the heat, and season the sauce with salt, black pepper, cumin and hot sauce. Leave the sauce on the stove for 10 minutes until it becomes thick, then add vinegar and tomato sauce to it, and stir it well. Leave it for 5 minutes, then remove it from the heat. How to prepare the fry pan: In a deep-frying pan and over a high heat, we put a lot of oil until it gets hot. Fry the onions in the oil, stirring constantly, until they become light brown in color. We put the onions on a kitchen paper to get rid of the excess oil, and set aside. We prepare the koshary. In a large bowl, boil the pasta in water with oil, salt and vinegar added for 10-15 minutes until it is cooked, then drain the water. Wash the lentils well several times and then drain the water. In a medium pot over high flames, put the lentils, chopped onions and enough water to cover it, until it boils. Reduce the heat and cover the lentils for 20-25 minutes, until they start to soften. Add the rice to the lentil bowl, stir it well, then add three cups of water to it. Season the rice with salt and cumin, then cover the pot, and leave it on a low heat until it is done; it may need more water depending on the type of rice. CRYSTAL Mountain-Story Once a man named Sam lived in a village. He knew about a mountain with a strange name Crystal Mountain. Only Sam knows about the mountain. Not all days does he go to the mountain to collect crystals, and sell for a decent amount of money. He goes to the mountain for mining the crystals only on Sundays because on other days, there will be a beast lurking, and on Sundays, the beast will be sleeping. His neighbour realises that day by day Sam has been becoming richer and richer. One day the neighbour decides to spy on Sam, he sees everything what Sam does- from going to the mountain and collecting crystals and selling them to make money. The next day the neighbour goes to the mountain to collect the crystals but little does he know that he goes on a Monday where the monster will be awake. When he reaches the mountain, he does not see Sam and his mining tools. He does not think much of it and goes inside the mountain, deeper and deeper and sees a giant monster! The monster roars at him and chases him. Imagine what must have happened to the jealous neighbour. Do you think he escaped? Yes, but how? Infer it. One day, Kith and Kin were playing hide-and-seek. Kith successfully hid behind the bushes near the garden. Kin failed to find out him. Kin was sad that he failed in the game. He grew tense when Kith didn’t come back. He thought that Kith had escaped to the forest. But why did he do so? He was the best friend of Kith; Kin couldn’t understand anything about his friend’s disappearance. The boy was much worried about Kith and the lonely Kin. At the backyard the boy was watering his garden. He found the fur of Kith stained with blood lying in the garden. He wept bitterly. Could Kith have been eaten by a cat, dog or a fox? Food and Food Habits - Essay Healthy food refers to food that contains the right amount of nutrients to keep our body fit. We need healthy food to keep ourselves fit. Nowadays, children should eat healthy food more than ever. We must encourage good eating habits so that our future generations will be healthy and fit. Most importantly, the harmful effects of junk food and the positive impact of healthy food must be emphasised. People should teach their children the value of eating healthy food at an early age. Healthy food not only influences our physical health, but mental health, too. In short, we must recognise that though artificial food may seem more tempting and appealing, it comes with a great cost. A cost which is very hard to pay. Therefore, we must all choose food wisely, and strive for a longer and healthier life. But the most exciting day was when my family, friends and I went on a trip to Dubai Expo 2020 to explore all the unique pavilions. Although we didn't get to see all the 200, we were satisfied. Expo 2020 was a World Expo hosted by Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022. We were ecstatic when we reached the location; we watched all the dazzling shows that were put on and not one performance failed to amaze us. Each pavilion had its own spark to it and let me tell you I was mesmerised by the whole trip. And about the food, it was delicious! Our family is quite big so we had got pizza and a few drinks for ourselves in a restaurant. The restaurant, in my opinion, looked so futuristic that I felt like I was living a decade ahead of the rest of the world. But with good things comes bad; you have no idea how many times we had gotten lost and to add more fuel to the fire the waiting lines were enormous. We had to wait for a very long time to enter most of the pavilions and when 51

we did, we were truly amazed. There were some ups and downs, but my friends and family had a blast at Expo. I do hope I can go there again someday. We ended our trip and bid farewell to the unforgettable building of the Expo. The Jewish tradition is preserved in the consumption of  Pesaha Paal (Passover Coconut Milk)  instead of wine on the night of Passover along with  Pesaha Appam (Unleavened Passover Bread) eaten on Maundy Thursdays. Ingredients: Rice Flour – 2 cups Grated Coconut – 1 1/4 cup Urad Dal – 1/2 cup (soaked in water) Shallots – 5 or 6 pieces Garlic – 2 cloves Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp Salt – to taste Water – as required Preparation Method: Take rice flour in a big vessel and add a pinch of salt. Grind the soaked urad dal with a little water to form a fine paste and add it to the rice flour. Grind shallots and garlic to form a fine paste and add it to the rice flour. Grind coconut and 1/2 tsp cumin seeds to form a coarse paste. Mix everything together adding a little water to make a thick batter. Add more salt if required. The consistency of the batter should be slightly less than that of idly batter. Keep the batter for around 2-3 hours but no longer to ferment. Grease a steel plate and pour the batter and spread it evenly. (Make a cross using the Palm Leaves from the previous year’s Palm Sunday and place it on the middle of the batter). Steam it for around 15 minutes in a steamer. Now indri appam is ready. 52

Ingredients for Pesaha Coconut Milk: Coconut Milk – 3 Cups Jaggery – 1/4 kg Rice Flour – 1/4 cup Dry Ginger Powder– 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder – 1/4 tsp Cumin Powder– 1/2 tsp Preparation method : Melt jaggery by boiling it slowly in around 1/2 cup of water. Filter the syrup. Take coconut milk in a saucepan. Keep it on low heat and bring it to boil by stirring continuously. Add jaggery syrup to the coconut milk and stir for a few minutes. Dissolve the rice flour in a little water and add it to the above mixture so that the mixture thickens. Keep stirring so that there are no lumps. Add the powdered spices (dry ginger, cumin and cardamom) to the milk. You can add small pieces of the palm leaves to the Pesaha Milk. Now Pesaha Milk is ready. ISRO-Indian Space Research Organisation The Futuristic Space Agency! The Indian Space Research Organisation, located in Bangalore, is India's National Space Agency. It is controlled directly by the Prime Minister of India through the Department of Space (DOS), and the Chairman of ISRO also serves as the executive of DOS. ISRO is India's major agency for duties linked to space-based applications, space exploration, and technology development. It is one of only six government space organisations in the world with complete launch capability, cryogenic engine deployment, extraterrestrial mission launches, and a vast fleet of artificial satellites. ISRO produced Aryabhata, India's first satellite, which was launched by the Soviet Union in 1975.ISRO launched the satellite RS-1 on its own SLV-3 in 1980, making India the eighth country capable of orbital launches. SLV-3 was superseded by ASLV, which was followed by the making of multiple medium- lift launch vehicles, rocket engines, satellite systems, and networks, allowing the agency to launch hundreds of domestic and foreign satellites, as well as different space missions for space research. ISRO manages the GAGAN and NAVIC satellite navigation systems and has the world's biggest network of remote sensing satellites. It has launched two lunar missions and one to Mars. In order to eventually produce rockets that are significantly heavier, ISRO is developing and putting into use engines that are both more powerful and less polluting. In addition, it intends to develop electric and nuclear propulsion for pacecraft and satellites in order to reduce their weight and extend their service lives. Long-term objectives may also include crewed landings on the Moon and planets. Expansion of the satellite fleet, landing a rover on the Moon, sending humans into space, development of a semi- cryogenic engine, sending more unmanned missions to the Moon, Mars, Venus, and Sun, and deployment of more space telescopes in orbit to observe cosmic phenomena and outer space beyond the solar system are all goals for the near future. Long-term ambitions include the creation of reusable launchers, heavy and super heavy launch vehicles, the deployment of a space station, the sending of exploration missions to exterior planets such as Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, and asteroids, etc. ISRO's activities have played an important part in 56

India's socio-economic growth, supporting both civilian and military sectors in a variety of areas such as disaster management, telemedicine, navigation and reconnaissance missions. ISRO technologies have also spawned several significant developments for India's engineering and medical industries. Eliza T. The five of us are currently juniors (11th graders.) We got our powers when we were in grade 1, but we kept them hidden from our peers because our parents told us too. One week ago… The five of us were going to school. I was really not feeling well because I had the flu. James: “Are you sure you’re fine?” Said Ruth: “I’m completely fin… AH-AH-AHCHOOOO.” I woke up to find us in the.. I don’t know, wait this looks familiar, wait. Now we were in the SALEM-WITCH-TRIALS. And when I mean we were horrified, I wasn’t kidding. God! I sneezed again but this time I took all of us to somewhere we all knew 1960s Miami to be more specific summer of Miami. Everyone looked at us in such disgust they looked like they saw a large toad but anyways I sneezed for the third and final time which took us to the winter of New York, 1989..As soon as we got there, Selene was freaking out. Oh my God! What are we going to do? We were stuck, God knows where (at the time we did not know where we were). Said Selene: “Stay calm.” “Selene, we'll find a way out of this. I just need time to think. THERE! A newspaper. It might tell us where we are,” said Ruth. We ran up to the newspaper and read it. We were in New York and the date was the 26th of December 1989. “Well, merry Christmas you guys,” said Ruth. “Merry Christmas!” All of us wished each other. “We need to find some safe place,” said Adam in his deep voice. And we did find an inn. It was cosy and all our money which was 500 dollars. It was ten-a-night. 57

So, we decided to stay for one night and we paid. “Thank you,” we said in unison. We slept all of us wondering what is going to happen to us? Soon it became morning and we had breakfast in bed. After we finished eating, we went to the side walk. “The first thing we need to do is to get some new clothes. I don’t like the looks we’re getting,” said Selene. “Let’s split up Selene; James, you guys go and find a few clothes for us too.” “As for me, Adam and Ruth can come up with a way for us to get back home,” said Kyle. Selene and I left. “Uh, Kyle, can you go and buy a lighter?” said Ruth. Then she started doing something and she started levitating and her eyes were glowing and she opened her mouth so wide that you could fit an entire burger in it. She soon started to come down, her eyes stopped glowing and her mouth wasn’t opened anymore. She reached the ground safely. “Well?” said Adam. “I saw the possibilities and we can only get back home in a week. You know what. Let’s make the best of it,” said Ruth. “Hey guys, I got the lighter!” Said Kyle. Meanwhile, with James and Selene... “Since it’s winter, we need to get warm clothes. James, JAMES!” “Yeah,” said James. “What are you looking for?” “I’m looking for Central Park. It’s my favourite park,” said James. But now what I want you to do is to come with me so we can get the clothes... “Hey guys, oh my God, what took you so long!” Exclaimed Ruth. “Nothing.” Said James and Selene together. “HEY, YOU KIDS, YOU’RE THE ONES WHO KEEP SPRAY PAINTING THE SCHOOLS AND CARS!” Said a police officer. “Whoooo, us?” Said the five. “YEAH YOU!” “Huh? Why are they saying these things about us?” Asked Kyle. “YOU TROUBLED TEENS ARE GOING TO JUVI!” (jail for children and teens) said the officer. “What! I can’t believe it, what are we going to do?” Sighed Selene. “Oh my God, they are coming here,” cried Ruth. “Uhm, run I guess?” Murmured James. Soon they all started running. Running. From My Journal Pages 1. The Talent I Wish I Had Well, I don't really know whether this is any particular talent, but I really wish, I could be a more disciplined person. A person that knows when she should control and push herself to fulfil her goals. A person that doesn't get distracted, and always holds firm unto the tasks she appoints herself with. I wish I could inculcate more healthy and productive habits into my life and build myself into the person I always cherished to be. But if one puts her whole mind and heart into fulfilling her wishes, she becomes dangerously powerful, and it's all in the mind. 2. Students’ Conference Abu Dhabi 2022 Our journey from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi University was an awesome experience with friends. The University had a huge campus with exciting activities and fun involved. The most thought- provoking moment in the university was the sessions which had interesting activities like producing our own show, making a cyber-security company, doing a skit, and many other quizzes. The lecturers very so interactive and amusing with many ideas and games with them. It was a great opportunity to experience such an interactive and entertaining conference in Abu Dhabi for students to know about universities and their exciting courses. 3. If I Landed on Mars Finally, after years of toiling and research, I got an opportunity to fly to my dream planet - THE MARS. I landed to see a dusty, cold and deserted world with many rocks, volcanoes, and polar ice caps. It just looks like earth without any living beings including trees around. There is so much of water, and the atmosphere is filled with nitrogen and carbon dioxide which is more than 95%, and oxygen is only 1% for which breathing is not possible. And the best part is, when it's night, you can see a beautiful scene of two moons in Mars. This is the best opportunity my team and I ever got. 4. What struck you most in Students’ Conference Abu Dhabi 2022? Journal by Eliza T. 11 B The most striking aspect I had at the Students’ Conference Abu Dhabi 2022 was how quickly everyone became integrated. All the students and lecturers got along great since there was a lot of new enthusiasm and understanding amongst them. Despite the fact that the participants came from a completely different environment, they were able to converse about their novel  ideas.  These new  insights stimulated my thinking and presented me with new information on different topics. It’s true. Would you like to become a dynamic person full of life? Sports and games ae essential in your life. Compare a body with life with a body that has no life in it. A person who has this fun in life is the former whereas the latter is a sluggish body though it has life in it, theoretically. Sports and games keep us fit and healthy. They are a useful means of entertainment and physical activity. They aid a person in his character formation. Sports and games keep mind and body fresh. Our body is like a machine that needs oil for its smoother functions just as our body needs physical activities which postpone ageing. They enhance the skills and abilities of children and develop their mettle to be more responsible and truthful citizens of the society. Their body and mind will be healthy and sturdy enough to combat adverse weather changes by not easily succumbing to diseases. Spare a little time every day to play. “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” goes true. Age is no restriction for anything. Sports and games help us materialise our age-old saying “a healthy mind in a healthy body.” Mohammad 60 Sadaf 8 A ****************************************************************

We had tied a net to protect our flowering plants and vegetables. Suddenly, I saw a bird trapped in the net. The bird was flapping its wings helplessly. It was making a die-hard attempt to fly. It had already lost many of its yellow feathers. The air contained light clumps of fluff. I wanted to save the bird, free it from the net. But I was afraid. I knew that its claws and beak would wound me if I tried alone. So, I called for help. My Mom turned up instantly. She was very sad at the plight of the bird. She ran to the sewing machine and came back like a flash of light with a pair of scissors. Slowly, we cut each tangle of the net. Finally, we released the bird and set in the floor. The bird was very weak, it had lost many of its feathers; it was unable to fly. I was on the verge of weeping, but my Mom pacified me. She gave the bird possible first-aid and kept it in an open box in the balcony. She knew that it would fly away when it regained its strength. I was very alert not to leave my kitten to the balcony. So, I locked the door to the terrace. The next day, I examined the balcony and found not a trace of the bird anywhere. I was sure that it had flown to the endless world of its freedom. Ulfat's Encounter with the Aliens- Mini Science Fiction It was a dark and stormy night. The whole of Greentown was covered by dark clouds. I was returning home. It started raining cats and dogs. Suddenly I saw a UFO appearing from the clouds. Like a flash of lightning, it landed on the road. Three aliens came out. I was astonished as I could understand their language. Their plan was to take all the trees away from earth. Not wasting a moment, I called my friends. Those aliens pointed out to a tree. An eerie blue light shot out from their hands making the first tree vanish. Soon, my friends arrived. They tried to scare those aliens by throwing stones, but in vain. Mr. Kim, the fat inspector of the area arrived, too. With a frightened look on his face, he shot at those aliens. One of them pointed his finger at Mr. Kim. To everyone’s amazement, Mr. Kim became as thin as a stick. Everybody laughed. Suddenly, Imad, my friend, ran towards them, shouting at the top of his shrill voice. Those aliens got the first fright of their life and vanished along with their spaceship. The kids were delighted. They had saved their planet. Mr. Kim was left fiddling with his pants. And everything went back to normal in Greentown. Rose is a very popular flower, and it grows in every part of the world. Rose is well-known as the ‘King of Flowers’. It appears in many colours like, red, pink, white, yellow, blue and more. But the red rose is the most popular one because it symbolises love. A rose flower has many layers of petals. It grows in the form of shrubs. Roses have small thorns all over their stem to protect themselves. But now, there are rose plants which have no thorns. The petals of a rose flower are soft and delicate. Rose has a lot of useful features: they are useful to humans in many ways. They are of medical value; they are used to produce food essence, rose water and cosmetics and perfumes. In restaurants, one can find rose- based milkshakes, syrups, sweets and desserts. 66

Is it not about this flower that most of the flower poems in English and other languages are written? So, rose is not only a beautiful flower but also a beneficial one in multiple ways. Know Your Value- Story A grandfather leaves his grandson a 200-year-old watch, the child's only inheritance. The watch was scuffed, worn, and, most importantly, centuries old. His sole condition was that the watch be sold in a jewelry store first. The outward aspect of the busted watch made it appear to be worth less than a penny, but the grandson decided to give it a go because it was his only inheritance. He went to the jewelry store, and the cashier at the table, looking at the item flatly refused to pay for it. The grandson had faith in it, therefore he went as far as he could to persuade the cashier. When the cashier's tolerance had crossed the limit, the boy was dragged out of the store. He knew his grandfather would not leave him anything, but he felt helpless after what occurred in the jewellery store. He thought about it for a while and decided to sell it to the pawn shop for whatever he could get. He goes to the pawn shop where he is offered 20 $ for it. Knowing that he wouldn’t get a better offer he agreed to it. A few weeks later, he bumps across his grandfather's colleague. They discuss his grandfather's death, and then the conversation shifts to his ancestral property. The grandson describes the trauma he went though and the only $20 he received. The person then recalls his grandfather mentioning the old watch, which is now worth more than he could have imagined. The grandson rushes to the pawn shop and searches for the watch, and he finds it kept untouched on the shelf. He then interrogates the cashier about it, where he is answered that customers are more attached to modern technology than old and worn-out watches or busted timers. After washing all the words of the cashier from his mind he gives the watch to a museum for examination. A few weeks later, he is offered 32 million dollars for it and it was auctioned for about 40 million dollars. People who don’t know their value settle for less than they are worth. They know they are worth more, but they settle for someone else’s definition of their worth. “If you don’t know your value, you will always settle for far less than what you deserve.” Chris Jacob 8 A **************************************************************** 70

Educate a Woman, You Educate a Country-Article There was a time when this question was frowned upon: Should women be educated? It was considered that women didn’t need to be educated. But this notion has largely moved from worse to better. We have now realised the importance of women’s education. The modern era has witnessed women’s awakening all over the world in every walk of life. Women are successful in shouldering responsibilities on par with men, even the most challenging ones that everyone thought, women wouldn’t accomplish Many individuals and groups denied women their right to education pointing out that the rightful domain of women is their home, and the money spent on their education is sheer squandering. But gone are those days. Empowering women through education has numerous advantages: educated women may contribute equally and significantly to the country’s growth by sharing or alleviating the burdens of men in several realms. Educated women may contribute to the society as teachers, lawyers, physicians and administrators. They have proved a great deal how they would serve a country during wars. Everyone can hope for a better future if he or she has education.Increasing literacy rate can lead to a steep fall in crime rates. While a country invests heavily in raising the quality of manpower and human resources, keener attention should be given to emancipate women. My online classes gave me a hope that my learning would never stop. Online classes taught me to have greater interaction with teachers. I was shy and timid before. But thanks to online classes, I have cast away a great deal of my diffidence. Now in regular classes, I continue to learn well and speak well. I can spend a whole day to complete my assignment and notes with rest in between. Online classes helped me realise that learning is fun. Today we discussed about English. Teachers appreciated me,and I am not afraid of public speaking now I have a lot of time to spend with my books. They have become my best friends. Generation Gap-Introspective Essay We live in a world that is constantly changing, so the need arises that we interact with people of different generations. Generation gap is nothing but a psychological gap between adults and the younger generation. Sometimes huge differences are found in major realms of communication, education and lifestyle. This generation is away and different because it has more technology that helps them communicate easily. However, older generations are hard to connect with because of their attitude, and what they believe isn’t understood or liked by others. The progress in every field and the way of thinking have been bound by the rationality of generations. Hence, the gap between generations is necessary. The new generation gives birth to new pattern of thinking, and they thus mould the society.Major advantage of the generation gap is that the younger generation may become self-sufficient whereas the disadvantage is that the younger generation may not get significant lessons of life from the older ones. Both the generations have their respective experiences and perspectives, they are bound to have different opinions and points of view regarding various aspects of life. So, accepting those differences is normal, and that everyone has a right to his or her own belief can help in bridging this gap.
